Review Bonfire Restaurant - West Kelowna

My wife and I went for breakfast Sunday morning. Service was relaxed as was the general atmosphere. The food was correct. If your not adventurous some of the sides will not impress. The sausages, eggs, cornbread muffin were are all excellent. The coffee mushrooms and the other sides were too much for my spouse but I tried them and they were clever but not to my taste. Price was similar to other restaurants and we will go back.

Great food! Usually short staffed it would seem. Breakfast was so slow and I could rarely even get a coffee refill. In the whole weekend we were there they never had coffee cream. The waitress seemed to be annoyed at having patrons and eager to complain about other staff members. Dinner was much nicer and better paced and dinner staff seemed to handle unexpected hiccups better. Great selection of local beers and cocktails!

Enjoyed an amazing meal on Friday. Our knowledgeable server recommended the steak fritz which we both savoured at a perfect medium rare with some tasty red wine. We sat in the lounge and felt at home with a cozy ambience. Our server, Kelly was attentive and pleasant and the kitchen was on point. We left feeling very well taken care of and look forward to coming back. Great dining experience!

Food was good and the staff was very friendly. Great view. But don't come here if you don't have time to spend. From order to food-to-table was a good 45 minutes. The menu was a little on the pricey side and we only ordered appetizers. If we'd added on mains we would have been there all afternoon.

Used to come here all the time to the bar and get truffle fires and a beer. Loved the quality menu and seasonal tap changes so we suggested our out of town friends meet us there for dinner. Apparently they had a whole management and chef change over? Worst thing they could have done. Not one of us liked our meal and the fries were changed to shoestring served with ketchup!? Super disappointed since the price of everything has stayed the same.

My wife and I were getting married at The Cove Lakeside and we called and asked if we could host our rehearsal dinner 2 months in advance at The Bonfire since it was part of the hotel. They accepted our reservation. Come the night of, they only had 3 serving staff on for the entire restaurant, and our party was of 30+ people. The kitchen staff was also very under staffed, 2 people from what I remember. I know that they worked their butts off. I want to make this clear, the party and myself had nothing but respect for the staff for trying their best and being very professional about it. But it was an average of 35-40 minutes for guests to get their first round of drinks, and 2 and a half hours for food. By the time some of the food got out, it was cold and not appetizing at all. Some of our friends who were eating at the restaurant that we’re not part of the dinner said that they had similar wait times. The manager did admit that they had a “scheduling error” which caused it and made the bill right. It was really frustrating to know that this had been on their books for 2 months and they didn’t book enough staff. If you’re coming with a loved one for dinner, it’s probably a nice place. Plan on hosting a party at The Bonfire, maybe consider elsewhere

Beyond disappointed with this restaurant. My family and I have been coming here on a very regular basis for many years. We have always enjoyed the views, the service and loved the food! However, after many changes in management and kitchen staff, this once hidden gem has been run into the ground. The quality of the food as well as the way it is prepared has changed and certainly not for the better. With the exception of a few sweet girls, the servers are rude and unorganized. Despite this, we have continue to go until today. My parents went to seat themselves after hovering in clear view for a long time without any acknowledgement of their extistence. As a former waitress, I am fully aware how customers sitting on dirty tables can throw you off but you ALWAYS remain friendly and professional. Instead, they were greeted with snappy comments and an attitude that shouldn’t even be present in McDonald’s. This individual argued with them and basically told my parents that if they didn’t like the service that they should leave, which they promptly did and will never return again. After numerous disappointments my family, my clients and friends and myself will never support this borderline struggling business again.

Our company party was yet again this year held at the Cove. Unsurprising is that in all the years we have had our parties there, that the food is often cold; the food is never replenished in a timely manner; by the time the last table got up to eat, nearly all of the food was gone. I did mention it to one of the staff, and although some of it was replenished, it was a sparse and overcooked variety which tasted like leftovers. The desert was very cold and hard bread pudding with no sauce, and one inch square pieces of something that resembled Costco cheesecake. The squares were approximately a 1/4" in height and there were 80 people at this event. To add insult to injury, the small bar set up in our venue charged $7.00 per highball. Bearing in mind that this is a Christmas Party many people commented on the price. Will never go to this restaurant again. It happens too frequently for words. Don't waste your $$$ on this poorly run venue.
