Review Shinwa Asian Cuisine - Waterloo

Saravana Moorthy
Decent place , quick service and tasty food. Inside a strip mall so no issues of parking. Tried their "Manchurian Eggplant gravy", Vegeterian Shinwa Chowmein. Eggplant is superb taste. Others tried Manchurian fish gravy and Chilli Chicken dry both very good. Its not pricey and good quantity too. Definitely a recommended place

I've ordered Manchurian stir fry veg, Chilli Mushroom, Veg Manchurian Fried rice Hakka Noodles, from this place, everything was very very Bad in taste 🤮, we are vegetarian and they gave us this meat in our food. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE AT ALL TO anyone, this food belongs to garbage only, moreover when we previously ordered our food from this place, the lady who is taking orders was very rude she should get fired.

I ordered 2 vegetable Hakka chow mein and both of them has blend taste. It’s was like there’s no salt or black pepper in it, just tossed thick rope like noodles with vegetables in it. Had it with hot sauce afterwards. Didn’t look like Hakka and wasted $31.30. 👎👎👎

Decent place to get lunch/dinner in the university plaza. Got the Hakka chow mien chicken and beef - it was a bit salty and not as flavourful as expected. There is a 10% discount when paid in cash

First time eating from this restaurant. I ordered the mango chicken, chili chicken and mixed Cantonese chow mein and it is all very tasty. My extremly picky 5 year old and husband are eating it. The only negative would be that there should be more noodles in the chow mein. Asked for extra sauce as I find most places make it kind of dry and it was great. Will definitely order again.

I usually get a take-out lunch special from Shinwa and it's always a good decision. To my surprise, some of the options they have taste very much like Indo-Hakka food. Their Lunch Special is $10 + tax so it's very affordable and their portioning is very good. Recommend swapping plain rice with the Egg fried rice for an upcharge as it's more flavorful. Their spice levels are pretty good; I usually like getting it a bit more spicier and they definitely kick it up a notch per request. Definitely recommend this place if you love Indo-Hakka cuisine & spicy food.
THE EPIC LIFE

This place WAS the best place in KW for your Indo-Chinese craving. Not anymore! Quantity, quality and flavor has degraded quite a bit. Fried chicken and fish appetizers has a lot of breading... hardly any actual meat. That said, the place still deserves a 3 stars. Hostesses are polite and accommodating. Prices are still the same even in the current inflation (maybe they offset it by reducing quantity??? Not sure) Food might not be as great as a year ago, but it is still good 👍
