Review Dairy Queen (treat) - Waterloo

I went to the store today (approx 12:50pm) to purchase a cake. When I walked in the door dinged, but no one was around. So I waited a few minutes for an employee to pop out from the back. No one came. Instead, I heard laughter and chatting in the back. The worker, and I believe her friend were in the back chatting. They were too busy chatting that they couldn't hear the door ring when I walked in. Again, I waited a two more minutes hoping the worker would pop their head around the corner to see if there was a customer. But they didn't, I then shouted, "hello". The worker came rushing from the back, and then served me. I got my cake in the end, but I was in a situation I should not have been in. If I had not called out to get her attention, she wouldn't have come out from the back at all. She would have continued chatting. Management needs to be training their employees to position themselves in a spot where they can keep an eye on the door to receive customers while in the back. I'm not against chatting on downtime, but I am annoyed that the worker neglected her duties. Not a great experience today at all.

Always great to enjoy some DQ goodness. Today was no different. They are doing their best to keep everyone healthy and safe at the same time. Appreciated.

I ordered two strawberry sundaes for my toddlers to enjoy and she filled them up way to much, then when she put the strawberries on the top it starting leaking down the sides. She attemped to clean it with papertowel which i was fine with but after that she took them to the dishwashing sink and started cleaning with a dishcloth. So disgusting my kids are going to hold that, put there fingers in the mouth etc. She brought the cloth straight from the sink too:( Do yourself a favor and go to Boardwalk Grill and Chill.

The ice cream for blizzards and sundaes is always melted. I have lived near this Dairy Queen for 4 years and they’ve had this problem since then. I sent an email to the manager about this problem yet they dont fix it. No one likes melted ice cream! If you are a customer reading this, i advise you to go to the Dairy Queen on Ira Needles at the boardwalk, it is worth the 8 minute extra drive, trust me

Quality is the same as Dairy Queen everywhere - which is to say just fine if not exceptional - but this location is fairly slow and has frequent errors. They're always happy to fix it but that doesn't help with the slowness. If there are a couple of people ahead of you waiting 10-20m isn't unusual.

Went in with my family this past Saturday - this store is typically very busy on weekends and is a CHILL only. Though we had to wait in line for a few minutes, the staff working at the location was very calm and collected within their interaction with customers and always ended each transaction with a smile. We ordered 6 blizzards and all were very well made and tasted delicious. We live in the Laurelwood area and love visiting this location. The owner is very friendly!

I asked the cashier if they have the cookie jar blizzard. She said yes so I said I will get one of those. She ended up making a plain cookie dough blizzard. I told her it wasn't made right so she got the manager. The manager explained to me that the cashier was new and didn't know how to make blizzards not on the menu. I was nice about and said that's why I asked if you guys have it because it's not on the menu and the cashier said yes. Then the manager repeated herself about the cashier being new and not knowing how to make it. She was a bit snippy the second time she explained and I felt she was being rude and didn't listen to what I said. The manager remade my cookie jar blizzard and something was still missing. I think there's also supposed to be hot fudge or caramel in it. I've gone out of my way to go to the boardwalk. I've had new employees at the boardwalk make my royal blizzard without the fudge in the middle and all they did was apologize and make a new one. That's what great customer service is.
