Review Home Style Diner - Waterloo

Exactly what the name implies. Nothing fancy and hipster, just a good old fashioned well run home-styled diner. Great reliable basic cooking, served with a friendly attitude and a warm, comfortable atmosphere. Decor is basic but clean. All workers were strictly following the COVID rules. Food was hearty but a little plain. Not necessarily a bad thing. Good portions and good prices/value. Trish was a great waitress! Washrooms were clean and nicer than the average family diner. Lots of yummy baking for take home at the entrance.

Carole thank you for your awesome service and morning smiles. Service was top notch. I had the 1/2 stack apple cinnamon and pecan pancakes with bacon. Hubby had an omelette and added onions and cheese. Absolutely delicious! The home fries are another level...probably one of the best in town, add the onions and pepper and that is a first class act! Coffee was also good! On our way out checked out the bakery items...a chocolate cheesecake caught my attention, so I am definetely coming back. Cozy, nicely decorated, loved the church benches and the pics on the wall. Nicely done!!! Strongly recommend

Great breakfast place. Tried the daily special omelette and benedict and both were fabulous... The coffee too was perfect for me!

It was my first visit and I was impressed! The place is spacious and clean with friendly staff to greet you. I was with a group and everyone enjoyed their lunches. Prices are reasonable and they offer two sizes of their mains. Make sure to save room for their delicious desserts. Frozen take-out meals are available too.

Went yesterday with the missus. Staff was very friendly and the Diner had a nice welcoming vibe. Food was delicious and portions were perfect. Nicely priced compared to other breakfast places. Definitely recommend the Skor Cheesecake.

A FIVE-STAR diner!!! Fast, friendly, attentive service! The food is absolutely fabulous! The liver melts in your mouth and full of flavour! Onion rings are the best I’ve had in years! So good we went back for brunch the next day which was just as good! And it’s spotless! THANK YOU!!!

Nice ambience very family oriented. Clean. We had breakfast the food was good the order arrived with not to much of a wait as the diner was busy. The service was very friendly always making sure we had coffee and in need of anything more. We were very pleased with food quality and service. Definitely we would recommend this this gem. Can't wait to return. Thanks so much Homestyle Diner

Better than most fancy/expensive breakfast diners in the region.

Homestyle is an adorable family run diner. If you dine on a weekday it's full of old little retirees. They've got all day breakfast, so I ordered an eggs Benedict. Everything thing tasted right. The egg was a little over done but the crispy home fries with peppers and onions made up for it. Decent food, decent prices.

This was my go-to place for breakfast (now it's the Checkerboard in Belmont village).
Before the fire, their home fries were the best in town. Believe they've changed cooks since (though it's nice to see a lot of the wait staff has returned!) :)
The home fries, while still having onion and peppers in them seem much less flavourful than they were before. Also, is it just me or are the plates smaller?
Pre-fire, they were a solid 4/5, now I'd only give them 3.5 (haven't tried other menu items other than breakfast since their reopening) - will amend if those prove to be as good as they were previously.

Excellent little place!. Rolled ribs are the best in the city. The schnitzel is great too.
Friendly staff. Prompt service. Clean.

This is one very well run restaurant.

Love the club sandwich. It's real turkey meat. Servings sizes are just about right. If you arrlen looking for a home cooked meal, this is the spot.

Good old fashioned food. This is a great little restaurant which serves tasty old fashioned meals. We have tried their hot turkey sandwich, roast beef and turkey dinners and the rolled ribs. The highlight of this place is the desserts--they have a huge list of pies.We have tried their pumpkin pie, coconut cream pie, pumpkin cake and rice pudding--all were delicious.

Great food. We have been to homestyle many times now and love it. The food has been excellent, we tried some different burgers and schnitzels, and have been so impressed, the mashed potatoes were excellent, mashed from real potatoes as they still had a few lumps in them. Rolled Ribs were so tasty and new to us, but we have been back a few times for them. The coconut cream pie we tried was out of this world and you could tell it was home-made. Been in for breakfast a couple times and have had great omelettes mine had fresh mushrooms bacon and cheese in it, my girl friends had all fresh veggies in it, they were great. Service has always been very friendly and fast. A great place to eat.

Breakfast OK, Service Lousy. Decent basic $3.99 breajfast, coffee extra. You have to ask for coffee refills and then wait. Don't come too close before the 11am breakfast deadline or you will be charged "regular price" which is more of course.

Great for breakfast. Tucked into that plaza with the shoppers and the beer store.

Despite the decor and poor, corner location - this diner has GREAT, FAST Breakfast food. I haven't been around to check out their lunch/dinner menu but for a delicious morning meal that reminds you of mom's cooking - check out HomeStyle Diner!

I’ve shared a neighbourhood with Homestyle Diner my entire life. If I payed it any mind at all, it was at the discretion of knowing friends of friends who worked there. And it wasn’t, in fact, until Joey told me that a friend of a friend of ours was currently running the place, when we both decided, much to our facetious enthusiasm, to hurry and give it a try. Yes, to me the place always seemed a dying animal; a routine place with little appeal except to the regular crew that came in and out over and over again. But my culinary travels in our gastropolis have given perspective and patience to my once young and arrogant palate. Homestyle Diner is a strangely romantic place. Its décor may scream grandma kitsch, what with its sponged turquoise rose coloured walls, plastic plants, and wall art for sale. Joey described it as a showroom for old ladies that don’t know it’s a showroom; but I assure you, the space is part of the charm. In regards to what Homestyle Diner offers to eat, it’s triv
