I never leave reviews but felt compelled because the wonton soup with pork wontons is PHENOMENAL. The best I have ever tasted. Sweet and sour chicken balls are always a classic, but good nonetheless. I was quite disappointed by the honey garlic chicken and the vegetable chow mein, as they were quite bland and nothing to run home about.. however, the wonton soup truly made up for it. Overall enjoyable and would order from here again simply for the soup!

Best Chinese takeout in Victoria! Every dish is so flavourful and delicious. I really enjoyed the salt and pepper pork chops. You need to check this place out, you won’t be disappointed.

Had a big order to feed 10 for boxing day! This is the second year in a row. The food was hot and fresh, not greasy like other places seam to make it. This has become our go to Chinese restaurant in east Saanich now. We order 4-5 times a year and it's been consistently good.

I placed an order here on xmas eve & it did not disappoint. Everything was hot and delicious. Ordered the Wor Wonton soup, Special fried rice, and deep-fried wontons. The wontons came with a very large container of sweet & sour sauce. Thank you! Will definitely order again.

We just tried it for delivery, we are very happy! It arrived nice and hot. Wonton soup was good with baby bok choy. Ginger beef is quite spicy and beast we’ve found since our old place retired! Chicken chow mein, was full of good chicken and flavor. Thank you, we will order again.

Just had take out - meal for 4 and it was delicious. The broccoli was garlicky, the egg rolls flavourful and the deep fried shrimp were not soggy or greasy. Would recommend and will be back.

Food was terrible. We have ordered from here in the past and it was good. But tonight was not edible. When we called to tell them we couldn't even eat it because of how bad it was they offered nothing.

Ordered delivery from this place and it was super fast. They quoted us an hour but we only waited about 20 minutes before our food arrived. Their ginger beef and chicken fried rice were average. Their sweet and sour pork was delicious!

Fantastic. We were heading home after a movie tonight. We had not had dinner so we looked up late night food and this restaurant came up so we decided to get take out. We ordered the Tan Tan noodle which was AMAZING, cabbage with garlic which was good but hardly stood out against the other big flavours and 3 spice chicken which was great as well (small pieces with bones...certainly not for those who don't like bones or expect big chunks of chicken). This is probably the most authentic Chinese food I've had in Victoria. We will definitely go again.

I don't get all the bad reviews, first time ordering delivery was here 20mins after I ordered foods hot not very greasy sure the deep fried prawns were a lip thick with batter and they forgot the Sweet sauce but the other dishes are great. They have a crappy debit machine but that's my only real complaint, driver was kind and apologetic for the debit issues and I will give this place a 7/10 in my books!

New Management & Chef. I have been eating at East Garden since 1993. They have the best Chinese food in Greater Victoria and I've tried most of the Chinese restaurants. They've recently reopened under new management and there is a new chef (Dec 2014). I'm not good with change, especially when it comes to food that I love, but I gave them a shot. The food was fantastic - large portions, flavorful and hot. The menu has changed slightly and the full menu can be see online at www.eastgardenvictoria.ca. For those who have posted less than positive reviews, give them another try. The service is friendly and the food is ready in a reasonable time (if you want speedy food, subway is your place!).

First to last. I've ordered food from this place for years and it has constantly gotten worse and worse till it culminated in our last experience that was the worst chinese food I have ever had over cooked and the greasiest food I've ever tasted , I then phoned and complained and they offered me free meals on our next order so I thought I'd give them one more chance , phoned to place my order and they tried to tell me I used my free meals already when I definitely hadn't ,so thats how they treat their long time customers do yourself a favour and go somewhere else , its just not worth it .

Boring Food. Ordered delivery and although we live 1km away it took an hour for delivery on a Wednesday and the food was cold. Just basic boring chinese food, no imagination in the ingredients and pretty tasteless. There are many chinese and asian restaurants in this city to choose from. Don't bother with this place.

3 strikes your out. The place was empty on a Friday night. I know why, besides being cold (they turned the heat on when we came in), the service was chilly. The server was more interested on answering the phone then us, the only people in the place. Ordered Mu Shu pork when I asked the server to show me the pork in the dish, he could not! Really, but offered no apology. When the other dishes came, the portions were small. We had egg fu yung in about 20 other restaurants, never like this. When I asked, he said that's the way the do it. It was made like a omelet with peas but the inside was still liquidy...we sent it back. When the bill came we were charged full price for every item! NO apology, when I asked about the Mu Shu Pork with no pork and the egg fu yung we sent back he said that's the way do it, if I do not like it, it is my problem. So I said there is no wonder why no one is in the place. Paid the bill, no tip. (obviously). Do yourself a favour, many great Chinese places to go in town. Just do not go to Here.

I literally just left this place. Horrible. The server was clearly the delivery driver, didnt know bout any cocktails, the wonton soup was just oily hot water with bad wontons, the chicken chowmein was low in veggies and chicken and was super brown and overly fish oiled, the tofu with Chinese mushrooms and bamboo wasnt cooked long enough, the rice was old and came in a ice bin, the prawns were over battered and gross, and everything was under seasoned and covered with garlic. You can deffinently judge this book by the cover, Safeway has better Chinese.

Have eaten there because. My mother in law lives close by ....and they give elders 10 % off, thats what keeps her ordering take out again and again... it is cant be for the taste of the food, I have had better in the Mayfair Court...need I say more ......

Just had the worst chinese food.. ever. I had eaten here once a number of months ago, I had the lemon breaded chicken, and the pork fried rice. Both were good and flavorful (though the sauce for the lemon breaded chicken is gross, I just eat the chicken by itself). I decided to order again tonight.. ate two bites and couldn't force myself to eat anymore. I ordered the pork fried rice, chicken chow mein, and the lemon breaded chicken. The rice was brown... As if it had been dumped with soy sauce, however when I tasted it, it was completely bland. Obviously overcooked, but all the dishes were cold. That wasn't the worst part though, it literally tasted like bacon fat. I mean, as if they had cooked down a pack of bacon and poured the fat right over the rice. I gagged when I tasted it. The chow mein was bland at best, dark brown again.. Maybe had 2-3 little chunks of chicken in it. I just can't get over how bad that fried rice was.. I wouldn't eat there again if I was paid to.

You know how they say there is no such thing as bad Chinese food? There is. It's at east garden. I have no idea where the good reviews are coming from because it was the worst I've ever eaten.

Lease greasy Chniese & very fresh!. The chow mein is the feshest and least greasy of all Chinese I've had. Very fresh, not overcooked veggies. I tried the shredded chicken with peanut sauce on the recommendation of a friend - not at all what I expected but really good! Shredded chicken was chilled, with a really tasty peanut sauce and on a bed of cucumber. The cucumber/chicken combo is really refreshing and light! And the first true low-carb option I've ever had from this cuisine! Definitely getting this regularly now.

This place looks like a total dive but the food is clean tasting and full of flavor. Me and my girlfriend ordered a dinner for 2 combo and what we received could have easily fed a family of 4, huge portions! Looks like a total dive but I was pleasantly surprised.
