Senzushi is one of my favourite Japanese restaurants of Victoria. The sushi rice is beautifully seasoned and the ingredients are always fresh. The portions are good for the price and they have more traditional and authentically japanese menu options that other restaurants do not which is nice.
The restaurant is always clean and th service is always top notch. The servers are always pleasant and the food comes quickly even when it is busy.
Always super happy after eating here!
We haven't been here in many years. A friend mentioned they really enjoyed the food there from a recent visit so we decided to go back. We went for lunch and was very impressed with the service, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was intimate and welcoming. Went back for our daughter's birthday lunch and she absolutely loved it as she is vegetarian and they have a lot on the menu to offer. Recently, my wife and I went back a 3rd time for my birthday lunch and we tried something different on the menu and came away equally impressed and absolutely loved quality of the meal, the presentation and the great service. Highly recommended.
It's a good Japanese food place in Victoria. Love the vibe and atmosphere. Service was great but a bit slow which was understandable since they were super busy.
The main dishes and sushi rolls are okay. Special rolls are really good👌 there were no sits available so we sat at the sushi bar. But it was okay since the bar table was bigger than normal.
overall a 4.5 experience and recommended 👌
The atmosphere and the food were both fantastic! The sushi rice was a bit salty, making me drink a lot of water, but it was delicious. I can't wait to go back!
Fantastic restaurant, great food, exemplary service. We will definitely be back again, a lot of great things on the menu. Some of the atmosphere slightly dated, but that adds to the charm.
Great food, the portion is fair compared to the price. We are very happy about the food. Love to come back again!
First time I went to this restaurant and I couldn’t suggest a better place to get sushi! The menu has a wide variety of food choices and amazing drink selection, our server was a very kind and professional man who made the experience even better and was lovely to talk too! And as someone who has worked in a sushi restaurant this was such a great experience and the atmosphere was a very comfortable space to be in and has lots of beautiful artwork to admire while eating! My boyfriend and I got the takoyaki, miso soup, negitoro maki, dynamite roll, BC roll and the karage Roll and it was all so good!!! We will most definitely be coming back :)
It's easy to miss this spot if you're just strolling the street - look for the Cigar shop that it's connected too and you're in the right place.
It's spacious and beautifully decorated. Every staff member has been lovely in my 2 visits.
I love the combos/bentos and will be back. They seem to do everything well but it's more like a great everyday sushi spot vs a knock-your-socks-off experience.
sen zushi is best sushi restaurant in greater victoria. If you choose this place, you will never fail.
Hands down this was the very best sushi I've ever had! The fish was so incredibly fresh, tender, and flavourful. I had the chirashi don and while on the pricier side ($35) it could easily feed 2 people. The coconut ice cream was a perfect way to end the meal. Great atmosphere, great service, and truly outstanding food. 10/10, would go back in a heartbeat!
It's was easy to find and fair pricing. I ordered an oyako Don, some Nigiris and ice cream, they all tasted very nice and the prices were very fair to be honest. The waistress was really patient with us. Definitely recommend. My friend and I can both eat and we were hungry so we ordered quite a bit and it's was around 100 but I say normally it would be 20 -40 canadian dollar which is not bad at all for a good Japanese restaurant.
A moment of sen...
Truly good food is not only an occasion to make memories, but brings back old ones. The food here transported me back to my childhood to some of my grandmother's food moments. More specifically with the tamago and shiso.
Tamago, sweet egg, was done perfectly. Biting into it is suppose to be an experience with layers... litterally. As the egg cooks increasing number of folds is made. By gentle pan frying they are able to maintain a sweetness and suppleness to the egg. That finds itself between these layers. It doesn't taste fried, it doesn't tast eggy, it doesn't taste like custard. It tastes uniquely right.
Shiso distinquishes restaurants that are actually trying to be Japanese. This herbaceous leaf unique to Japan paired so well with the rice and sashimi.
Speaking of which the rice had a wonderful gummy texture. It's vinegar supported the oils of the sashimi.
I can't find any complaint with the sashimi. All were like principles in a show. They complemented each other and were distinct. I think the pictures exemplify the experience.
A unique distinction with Sen is that they provide grated ginger. I haven't seen this before. It provides a unique experience.
I've been out for sushi on a number of occasions before, and this was my first truly enjoyable experience eating sushi. Thank your for the great experience. I look forward to coming back. Cheers!
best sushi i’ve ever had! the server was so kind and checked in on us occasionally. i loved that they served us both cold water and hot tea in the beginning, and the food came pretty quickly too. the atmosphere inside was wonderful, and it was nice that the chefs and servers were all japanese as well, adding to the authenticity of the restaurant!
I've always been told that you can get a pretty accurate picture of the quality of a sushi restaurant based on their tuna, and the tekka maki here was fantastic. We also had the Bacio Bianco for dessert and were pleasantly surprised that it was large enough for two to share.
The food and table service was excellent. The noise in the front room was too loud for conversation at the beginning. I requested a quiet place but it was not possible which was understandable as the restaurant was very busy (around 6:45 p.m.). It is just the way the restaurant is designed. Over the course of the evening, it quiet down enough for conversation (around 7:45 p.m.)
It was still an enjoyable dinner, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants a dinner comparable to ones in Japan (comparison made from three visits to Japan).
Randy was an incredible waitress, we got our food in a timely matter and we felt taken care of. The best edamame i’ve ever had, so salty and hot! definitely returning here!

Haven’t been here since 2017, I ordered hot house sake, cold chicken udon, ebi tempura roll, and spicy agedashi tofu (although it’s not spicy at all for me tho😂) overall the food and service was good. Recommended, will definitely go back.
I’ve been going here for (quite literally) my entire life, and I am so thrilled that they are still thriving. The fish always tastes fresh and the bento boxes offered at lunchtime are a great deal. The staff have always been incredibly kind and accommodating. Highly recommend if you appreciate quality sushi and are looking for authentic Japanese cuisine.
