Review Castello Coffee Co - Victoria

Super sweet cafe right next to my bus stop, my go to! They make a great London Fog and a wonderful veggie breakfast bagel. They also have a great to go system!

We had a wonderful experience at Castello's. We had the Egg Breakfast sandwich and it was significantly better than any of the fast food restaurants. I had a chicken bagel sandwich and the lettuce and tomato were perfect. The two people we met there were extremely polite. If I lived on the island I would absolutely come back.

Absolutely delicious food- I had the breakfast bagel and the flavours are wonderful! The soy latte is made really well and arrived piping hot! I will definitely order from here again. Really affordable as well.

Blink and you'll miss it, but this place is great. The service is prompt, very friendly, and every time I come in here they make it clear they give a damn. Not just to me, to the other customers I see them serve as well. The food is good, I rather like their breakfast options. I also think they make a great mocha and hot chocolate. He warns you it's hot every time and it is HOT. I love it to-go, you can walk a ways and you'll still have a warm beverage by the end of your march. The shop is nice, couple levels, plenty of seating. Fairly quiet atmosphere. Lots of windows and light. But the standout is the service. Very nice welcoming people.

Super cute family business with friendly service. Although the coffee isn't the best, the breakfast bagels for around 7 CAD are amazing and the homemade banana bread aswell. Everything is very decently priced and tastes amazing. Perfect place for an affordable and quick breakfast! Not the most striking place frome the outside, but definitely more than worth the price!!!

Great place for quality, inexpensive coffee and breakfast. Excellent and happy service. Lots of old books and newspapers to read. Right up the street from Chinatown. This is an excellent spot to start your journey.

The people here are extremely kind, to EVERYONE. I think this matters and they deserve to be praised for this. I have watched on many occasions where some less fortunate souls have arrived (obviously homeless, carrying extra chattel or pushing a shopping cart,) and they are treated with the same respect as anyone else. And this is how it should be but, I don’t see this other places. The coffee and food is good, has a homemade vibe and is reasonably priced. Bravo to these people and their friendly business!

Food and coffee are excellent and very reasonably priced. Lovely atmosphere and very kind staff. My preferred place for a quick breakfast and coffee in Victoria.

This place is on point. They are super friendly and like eager to get some breakfast in you. The English muffin breakfast sandwich was no joke, mind boggling good. I know, it’s just a sandwich but seriously y’all it was so good.

Great place to go for breakfast. Coffees good, breakfast sandwiches are great. Chili's great for lunch. Service is quick and the owners are friendly and personable.

Sold and Suffering. A long time ago a gentleman and his family owned this cafe, and made their muffins fresh daily. They were the best muffins ever. They made the best London Fog and Chai Tea that you could get anywhere. They also made wonderful chili and pasta sauce. However... then they sold the cafe years ago and it hasn't been the same since. The muffins are brought in, and sometimes they are left to sit for much too long. I have had stale muffins on more than one occasion. I haven't bought a muffin there since I bought one that later turned out to have a spiderweb across the top. ICK!! I had a salad one time with a plastic ring in it from the seal on a milk jug. To be fair, the salad was good, but the plastic ring I could do without. ICK! I have had a couple of items with hair in them. ICK! I have ordered the occasional sandwich, but they are more than $5 and have as little in them as they can possibly get away with. One measly slice of tomato for a whole sandwich and there wasn't enough lettuce to reach the edges of the bread. ICK. The London Fog and Chai Tea aren't worth buying. Not only are they not as good as they used to be, they're just not very enjoyable at all. ICK. The pasta sauce and chili has also suffered, I had pasta a while back and honestly dug around in it and couldn't find any meat in the "meat sauce". ICK. I had a bowl of soup one time that was nothing more than cloudy GREY boiled water with soft grey vegetables floating in it. Worst soup I ever had, and it looked as miserable as it tasted. Threw it out. Seriously ICK!!! Their breakfast bagels are good though, I will admit that much. YUM! I used to visit this cafe every day, sometimes more than once! Now I go there maybe once in a few months when I'm desperate. There used to be huge lineups on a daily basis and now there isn't, so it's not just me that feels this way. Maybe this review will help them realize what they're doing wrong. They seem like really nice folks, but you just can't have a successful cafe by selling third-rate / cheaply made / stale product - especially when there are so many other coffee shops to choose from within a few short blocks. I give this cafe Seven ICKs and One YUM.
