I recently discovered Ramen,...wow,...for me its a zen like dining experience,...and at least for me one best kept private.
After trying and really enjoying the ramen here, I, in short order, tried the other two popular ramen centric local restaurants.
The Stubborn Chef is #1 imo.
And its all about the steaming bowl of food greatness here for me.
Such a collection of individual ingredients, textures and flavours,...and the aroma,...its a meal to savour and enjoy, no way to do it without alternating from chopsticks for picking out individual peices, then changing over to the spoon to have a go at the flavourful broth.
There's satisfying but not so sexy slurping and articulating of implements and head positions to effectively take it all in soz to speak.
So good,...as an eating experience its hard to beat.
A small place, complete with a young happy staff when I was there, putting together a fantastic meal with a minimalistic kitchen.
This is all about the collection of ingredients and imo these people are really doing well.
Nice local ramen shop. Pleasant staff, prompt service, fair prices. We thought the broth was tasty, not salty, with good flavour. The noodles had a good texture too. I had the homemade kimchi and it was delicious. I found it at Root Cellar and bought some to have at home; it's so good.
This little gem is one of my neighborhood favourites! It always has people in it when I walk by, so you know its got something good going on. People, their noodles are made by hand! Thats pretty rad. You can taste the difference too. Their broths and ingredients make the bowls so flavourful and heartwarming. A bowl of kimchi miso soup is perfect during exams to keep away cold noses and sore throats.
Great place! Enjoy coming here for the shoyu ramen. Coconut shrimp noodle soup is delicious too! Portions could be slightly bigger. Staff is really friendly.
I ordered ‘Spicy pork and chive dumplings (the picture attached)’ for my friend, and he enjoyed it. Thank you for making us happy😊!
I have tried their dishes several times. I enjoyed their sauces, Kimchi, the Kimchi rice bowl, and dumplings etc (I am from Korea. I love their Kimchi haha) They are so GOOD.
I would definitely order their dishes again for myself and my friends.

My family and I like to order Stubborn Chef Express’ frozen wontons and dumplings, ginger dressing and kimchi and have them delivered to our home. The pork and chive and pork and cabbage dumplings are delicious. We like to steam and then panfry them. The ginger dressing pairs perfectly with the dumplings as a dipping sauce. We also like to use the dressing to marinate meatloaf because it gives it a richer flavour.
When we first ordered the wontons with the free soup base, we found both too salty. Our next order was just right, but we did ask them to not include the soup base because we prefer to use our own chicken broth.
Their kimchi is the best we’ve ever had. It has a great flavour and is just the right amount of spice for our palate. We ordered a 454g container the first time, but went through it so fast that we now get the 1.2kg!
We visited their storefront recently and were kindly offered samples of their chili oil and steak sauce. They were so good! We’ll definitely pick up a bottle of each next time.
Not only is Stubborn Chef’s food handcrafted with love, you can also experience this in their service right down to the details. I love the cute handwriting on their delivery packaging that gives it a warm, personal touch.

Don't be fooled by this unassuming storefront at University Heights. These are the best dumplings in town! Perfectly made and the dumpling sauce is scrumptious. The neat, hand-drawn labeling on containers is also endearing.
Good and tasty portions of food, friendly and helpful staff, and locally crafted product. Will shop here again for sure.
The cashier/staff were very helpful and talkative, and we were generously given many free samples :) We have yet to try the dumplings but look forward to doing so !!

Easy to cook.
Ordered online. The packagings were very neat (cute handwriting)! I was surprised by the sauce samples - especially the Japanese Mayo. Will definitely buy a bottle next time. I crave the sauces.
Great frozen take out wontons and dumplings. ** Just tried the Kimchi and it's the best I've had.
Delicious food and very good prices. I ordered minced pork and rice and i was amazingly surprised by the amount and the taste. The best minced pork i have eaten.
