I kinda liked this place. The service was great and the food I ordered was really good too. I got the bacon wrapped stuffed pork tenderloin. I feel it was cooked quite well, was tender and juicy, and tasted great.

We were staying at the attached HoJo and it was getting late on our first night in Victoria.  The kids were hungry and I really wanted to get back in the car and drive somewhere to eat dinner.  My husband insisted we just go to next door to the Lakes for dinner.  I was very dubious.  The restaurant was not busy at all and we were seated right away.  My kids were given crayons and colouring placemats (always welcome!) and they chose the cheesy pasta on the kids menu.  I ordered the BBQ burger and fries and my husband had a clubhouse sandwich.  I was very pleasantly surprised by the food.  My fries were absolutely delicious.  I know, I know, just french fries right?  No, seriously, delicious.  Thin and crispy.  I asked the server about it and she told us they were beer battered.  I literally would go back just for the fries.  My burger was also very good.  Saucy and messy, but good.  My husband likes his sandwich a lot.  It was huge and he ate everything.  My kids enjoyed their pasta.  Plus they got a strawberry sundae as part of their kids' meal and it was very nicely presented with macerated strawberries and fresh whipped cream.  Pretty good for a restaurant attached to a HoJo!  When in Victoria, I would return for sure.

Great place for a reasonable price breakfast. Our regular breakfast place. Where else can you get a 4 egg omelet for $11

Service was excellent! But I do not recommended the Braised Short ribs at $34.00!!! Sever said it was delicious and the meat just falls off the bone..Not true at all !!! So tough and the potatoes oven roasted tasted oily and deep fried, mushroom glaze way to salty..But on a good note the seafood chowder was delicious..

Newly renovated and rebranded The Lakes restaurant is a nice spot to stop in and enjoy a delicious meal. Prices were fair. We received exceptional table service. Thank you Heather for a pleasant experience.

Sorry, I forgot to take photos when it arrived. Presentation was great. Salmon was wonderful and such great flavors. Cream of mushroom soup was full of mushrooms and flavor. Pasta had lots of shrimp and scallops.

Stopped into The Lakes as every Monday is Happy Hour. Restaurant did a great job with their renovations. Lots of TV's in the lounge for the sports enthusiasts. Started with a bottle of wine ( Robert Mondavi ) and the Vegetarian Gyzoas. Gyzoas had a great taste but unfortunately way, way to much sauce. For the main I went with the Cobb Salad, adding chicken. Salad had very fresh ingredients. Would recommend The Lakes.

A hidden gem in Royal Oak! Must try, whether you stop in for a beer to check out the game or bring the whole family out for a delicious feast! Situated in the newly renovated and renamed Holiday Inn(formerly HoJo) situated 2 minutes walk from Commonwealth Center, the Lakes Lounge offers tasty pub fare options alongside fine dining, kids menu and delectable desserts. Choose a comfy booth in either the lounge (19+) or dining room. or grab a chair at the brand new MASSIVE wooden wrap-around bar that has to be seen to believe. Friendly staff make you feel at home and newly renovated everything gives a fancy feel without the fancy prices. Definitely worth a visit! Bring the kids... or don't!Either way you'll enjoy your visit at the Lakes Lounge.

Went for breakfast...price for two...$35ish Positive: easy to find, lots of free parking, service was great, clean and spacious interior. Lots of option with breakfast menu. Food came out quickly. Neg: none Food for thought: opens earlier than most other restaurants in the area.

Small diner type Cafe with a bar. Good brunch menu & had the lunch special, which was delicious. Hence the 5 star rating. Though its called The Lake, don't expect a lake view. There is a lake close by though.

What a gem of a restaurant! We were in the area and hungry and boy are we glad we stopped in. The food was impressive, we just had burgers and fries, but they were better than most places of this calibre. The food also came out quickly. My wife's cocktail was delicious too! But in the end what made it memorable was the great friendly service! The staff were smiles and visited our table frequently enough. Abby (Avery?) was lovely and made sure we has an enjoyable visit. Thank you

Terrific food, nice atmosphere, reasonable prices. The clubhouse was AMAZING and the portions are generous. Food came fast and was hot. Staff were slow to greet me and I had to initiate conversation to get seated. Maybe they were just having an off night? Once seated the staff were very attentive. I enjoyed my meal and will try them again.

This place is a hidden gem just outside the main city. I've been coming here for years, and the service/food has always been consistently satisfactory. The few times over the years when an order was wrong somehow, the staff very politely and efficiently fixed the issue. The Lakes Club and Avo-Toast are so good!!!

Food was ok. Service would have been great, but they served the majority of our group just fine, for whatever reason the rest were served 35 minutes later.
