Review Wind Cries Mary - Victoria

Best drinks in town 🙌 What drew us in was the quasi-hidden entrance into a darker ambience… immediately noticed the charm of this place. Classy vibes all around, and a very chill atmosphere where you can actually hear one another. Every signature cocktail we tried was a jaw-dropping type of good. So impeccably balanced even with the stronger spirits present. What they do here is meticulous in craftsmanship and incredibly precise in inception… The price here is a bit steeper than neighboring cocktails but frankly this is as good as it gets when it comes to creative cocktails at a reasonable price range. I really recommend you pay the extra few bucks here - the quality is amazing! We absolutely loved our drinks and will be back many times for more!

Nice restaurant that came highly recommended. Buzzing with patrons on a weeknight. On the noisy side (challenging to maintain a conversation due to surrounding noise). Friendly and attentive service. Tasty cocktails and well crafted menu. • The beet salad was fresh and delicious. The signature fried chicken was tasty, moist and crispy. The house hot sauce bucket was a nice touch. • The low point of our meal was the squash gnudi. Although the actually gnudi were light and soft the contrast of the chunky pieces of squash and the richness of caramelized overpowered the dish. • We would definitely return and sample other choices on the menu.

We were on our way elsewhere last night but paused at their cosy outdoor patio— great jazzy music and nice flame heaters and umbrellas up to keep the drizzle off. We fully enjoyed every sip of our well-thought out cocktails, and every bite of our food. The service was friendly and knowledgeable. Four fantastic different seating areas all with an intimate classy vibe. The interior courtyard looked amazing. Recommend for a date, or any intimate gathering

Took my beautiful wife here for a late night, date night Sunday dinner. Very cool location in Bastion Square right off Langley. The hostest took us inside, just down some stairs and what seemed to be a maze of different dining areas. Very cool. The wait staff was immediately amazing, explaining that the menu is served in a family style of shareable plates, which appealed to both of us very much. Everything that we had ordered seemed to be more amazing than the last plate. The place definitely has a very romantic feeling and a great place for great food, great company, and a great date night experience. This may be my new favorite place for date night in Victoria. Thanks.

This place is a new favorite of mine. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner and decided on the tasting menu with the cocktail pairing. Every dish (with the exception of the pork dish) was complex and flavorful, and the cocktail pairings were fantastic and really complemented each dish. My personal favorite dish was the salmon dish. The Laundry and Taxes cocktail was fantastic, and the kelp salt on my margarita blew my mind. The service was responsive but not overly intrusive, and the atmosphere was quite nice in the backyard patio. I would definitely return next time I’m in Victoria, and will be recommending to my friends and family.

Hands down, the best cocktails I've ever had. We had one night in Victoria before a trip up the coast and WCM was highly recommended. It's a busy spot. Reservations recommended (if possible). But we were able to sit at the bar - which was no issue. Staff are friendly, informative and knowledgeable about all of the drinks and menu items. This includes recommending distilleries and wineries in the region. Dishes are meant to be shared and the portions are generous. Everything is fresh and flavourful. The fried chicken is... incredible. If you need a shortlist of places to try in Victoria, this should be at the top.

The best spaghetti I had on my visit to Victoria! The entire menu was great although I can’t really remember the name of the dishes. The dessert was everything! It’s a beautiful space but the only problem I had with the atmosphere was the noise. It’s so noisy in there that I almost left immediately I got there. Glad I stuck it out cause I had a good time.

We couldn't get a reservation so we just showed up and the host found us a spot at the bar. So the first impression was great and it just got better as dinner rolled along. The staff were helpful and knowledgeable. The bartender did a great job asking my wife what she wanted in a wine and made a great recommendation. We had the whipped ricotta toast, OMG it was amazing, perfectly balanced and flavorful. Next up was fresh oysters, which were great but the house made minorette, hot sauces and fresh horseradish put them over the top. Next was the tuna, which was delicious! Obviously everyone knew what they were doing, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend!

At Wind Cries Mary, the intimate setting and vibrant libation choices set the stage for an evening of different impressions. The duck wasn't my favorite and i felt the lentils were not the optimal pairing - they missed a chance to elevate the dish with a more complementary flavor profile. However, a standout dish came with the burrata — a delightful fusion of creamy textures, sweet blackberries, and tomatoes. Despite some culinary misses, Wind Cries Mary's inviting ambiance.
