Find myself going here for lunch more and more, love the chicken doner wrap, and it's very affordable too. Great staff, the man who I presume to be the owner is a great guy. 5 stars would recommend

This small family run cafe is a cute little spot with great service and authentic Turkish food. The food is very simple but tasty. I would definitely go back for a good lunch.

Went to Efes for the first time this week. I thought it was OK. Very slow lunch service. I noticed quite a few take out folks leaving in a huff because of a long wait, which given the simplicity of the menu really isn't acceptable. I had the falafel donair and though filling, I found it a bit bland. Very gracious staff but they need to pick up the pace and inject a little more boldness in their flavors.
Possibly the best sandwich in Vic. I was blown away by the quality of the chicken donair I had today. I claim particularly legitimacy on this point because I lived in the Middle East for years and this was what is known as a schwarma in Sauid Arabia. I've had a lot of them and today's was the best. I'm going to be dragging people there to try it out.
Tasty falafel and wonderful service. Victoria has very few decent middle-eastern cafe options so I was thrilled to see Efe's open last year. I have had the falafel wrap twice. The wraps are pretty standard, but the saviour is the made to order falafel has a nice spiced flavour, soft inside and crisp exterior. Would not say it is the best I have ever had, but very good, and definitely above and beyond anywhere I have been in Victoria. This is my go-to for falafel cravings from now on.
I must also mention how wonderfully friendly and polite the staff are at Efe's. They make you feel good about being there and provide outstanding service for a downtown cafe.
Satisfied. Loved the lunch I had. Was a while back but wanted to make sure they got the credit due. If they still make the rice pudding I would highly recommend it. Delicious

Will definitely be back!. My husband and I went here last week for lunch, because we wanted to try something new and try Turkish food. We both ordered the lamb kebap plate and were blown away with how flavorful it was! The meat was perfect, and the rice was very tasty. We also tried the Turkish coffee - unique taste and quite strong, but good! We ordered the rice pudding for dessert and loved it!! The prices were very reasonable. Also, the owner and staff were great! Very pleasant, friendly, and nice to chat with. What a great little place, I already recommended it to my friends and co-workers! We look forward to coming back for more delicious food.

Close enough!. First off I must admit that I have spent some time in the middle east and have eaten some of the best shawarma and falafel the world has to offer. This has forever altered my standards and the few times I've gone to Efes so far I've had to keep an open mind and remind myself that this is Victoria, not Jerusalem! Overall Efes is very solid; the chicken and beef "doner" are juicy, well-seasoned and the wrap is a good, hearty size. Their toppings bar leaves a lot to be desired as it is seemingly just bagged shredded lettuce, thinly sliced tomato and store-bought pickles and banana peppers. Also, adding Hummus to your wrap is an extra dollar and the hummus is mediocre at best. The pita is also very run-of-the-mill store bought pita which doesn't do them any favours, but doesn't really hurt them either. The Falafel is pretty decent as well, but once again not spectacular. They do fry to order though which is a huge step up from the abomination that was the Beirut Express (funny how right after this place opens, Beirut Express closes hey?). As a matter of fact if you're a native Victorian and your falafel/shawarma experience was limited to said Beirut Express then Efes will probably blow you away. They actually shave the meat off the spit the way it was meant to be! All-in-all it's still not quite the place my snobby falafel palate has desired for so long, but I will definitely return whenever the mood strikes and can comfortably recommend it to anyone looking for a tasty wrap done well.
The BEST!. I freakin' love this place. The food is all hand made and amazing. Mehmet (the owner) is a super friendly dude and will go out of his way to make sure you (and everyone else in there) is happy and satisfied. I have been 4 times in a week and a half and I'm going again this Friday!
Having talked to Mehmet a number of times, I can tell you that he is super concerned with giving Victoria high quality food at affordable prices. I know he won't budge on the quality, but we'll have to wait to see if the price creep up as Efes gains momentum. I sure hope they don't because I love this place.
Solid. Best falafel in Victoria. That's not necessarily saying a lot, as all other falafel in this city is garbage, but this is much better. Not sure there's anything better in Vancouver either. Big hearty falafel with all the fixings, definitely a full meal. They were also giving out samples of new menu items for free. Staff had a good attitude, nice light in the joint and quick, fresh food.
Had the falafel - not bad, not the best I've ever had but far from the worst. Would go again.

Went with a friend; She had a chicken Donair wrap, I had beef, and we split a rice pudding. The portions were generous, the price was right even for us, and we're both on student budgets. The rice pudding was out of this world delicious, like if rice pudding and crème brûlée had a delicious baby. The guys were so friendly and lovely! Will be going back a LOT.

An Absolute Must !. This place is legit. Just opened so hadn't heard of it before, but a friend suggested it so I stopped in for lunch. So glad I made that decision as i've found a new favorite. Friendliest staff ever, inviting and classy decor, and as soon as I stepped in I noticed the inviting hospitality that the middle eastern culture is famous for. Sat down and was treated like royalty. All that was wonderful, but the donair - oh my, it was to die for. Juicy, fresh, hot, melt in your mouth kind of meat...perfection. I've been to Turkey many times and know my donair, and this is the real stuff. A MUST for any meat lover !!
Yum!. Efes is every bit a true Doner shop should be. It's fresh, real meat, none of this processed slab of meat stuff some might try to serve, fresh veggies and tzatziki. The lamb schischkabobs are nicely marinated and tender, I highly recommend them! For dessert, definitely try a rice pudding, it's the perfect finish accompanied by Turkish tea. I will be back again and again!
Thank you!. I have lived in downtown Victoria for 10 years. I am always excited for when a new downtown eatery opens. I am not a foodie what so ever, I like to be able to get a nice quick meal to go for under 10$. This is where Efes enters - offering a donair and a pop for 9$ I figure I had to give it a try. The restaurant its self is clean, and very nicely set up. Behind the counter sits two spinning meats one chicken, and one beef. I recommend both. The service is amazing, the owner is really nice and his passion is clear. If your looking for a solid well priced lunch or dinner - go now!

E: On a chilly night about town, I guess James needed a good fireplace to roast his rump near. Although this operation is over a month old, their soft opening is certainly gathering a crowd. While their wraps certainly filled our tummies, I knew I had to come back soon to try their donairs.

It is a short menu but it is done well. I had the lamb kebap on rice. The lamb was tender, nicely spiced and well cooked. The plate came with a large salad and two cups of rice - Turks and Persians cook some of the best rice I have ever eaten in my life. The salad was fresh and flavourful, there was some thought behind what they put on the plate because there were no mealy bland tomatoes and their horrid ilk.
Nice restaurant with nice staff. I had their chicken dish which tasted pretty good, but the chicken was a bit dry. I think the beef and lamb (cooked fresh) would have been a bit better. I will definitely be back to try other dishes.
Friendly staff, the falafel was yummy and I was a big fan of how knowledgeable the staff were about veganism, how easy it was to order vegan, and how many options there were for me. It's close to work, convenient and affordable. I will definitely be back to try more food.
The tall cashier with the accent was the BEST customer service person I've ever encountered. I visited these guys tonight after staying for a week in Vancouver as I drove from Calgary, let me tell you it was much cheaper here and it was actually on par with what we were served back in Calgary and MUCH more than the Vancouver servings overall the cashier was VERY polite, customer service makes all the difference and the food was amazing. Def a recommendation from me.

The price is great, a perfect way to fill up on a budget with the specials offered, portions are smallish but it's what you get considering the price. Quality is worth it, good falafels also, - the main reason of visit, looking forward to trying more of the menu.
Awsome place!! I am in love with the chicken sheesh wrap, it has the absolute right blend of spices and is made right in front of you served fresh. I have been in such love with the sheesh wrap that never bothered to try anything else.

First off Efes is not Viatnamese; it is a Turkish place that just opened on Yates Street in Victoria, BC.
The food there is AMAZING!
It took one visit for this place to become my family's favorite. The Kebab is very flavorful and juicy. The meat Doner is super rich and tasty. A must if you love Turkish food or just looking to try something new.
I get take-out from here very often; it's probably my favourite cheaper takeout place in downtown Victoria. It's fast, friendly efficient service, cheap, and so yummy.
Pretty good for a beef donair in this city. Authentic for sure. Missing the sweet sauce I'm accustomed to with donair, but the meat was well seasoned.
One of the only places in Victoria that has a proper chicken Shawarma sandwich... Ask for extra garlic sauce, you won't be disappointed!!
