Review Liberty Cafe & Deli - Victoria

Really awesome and quaint place! Very relaxing and not too busy, I ordered the veggie samosas, cinnamon twists and almond milk latte. Veggie samosas were spot on, cinnamon twists were a bit too hard, but coffee was excellent! Wifi hotspots and couches available, reasonably priced as well. Would recommend!!

Been looking for a good breakfast place while on my trip to Victoria. The coffee was very reasonably priced and tasted great, and the sandwiches were big and tasty. Good service, very friendly, and didn't take too long. Excellent experience, will be returning.

Super cute space with a nice aesthetic. The worker was really nice and the presentation of our drinks and food was great.

Friendly staff despite language barrier. Service is great. Ordered coffee and cream cheese and smoked salmon bagels. Decently priced.

The espresso quality here is top-notch. They obviously use good quality beans and the staff know how to use their machine. The staff member who served me was friendly and helpful even in the middle of a busy day. She was able to provide good service without compromising speed, which is rare. Worth a stop if you find yourself anywhere in the area.

Love popping by the Liberty cafe for my morning pick-me-up or afternoon Latte! The staff is always super friendly and attentive. And if you are hungry, there's plenty of treats/lunch options to choose from. Great coffee shop and I recommend it to anyone local or visiting Victoria.

The cafe was very bright and spacious! They serve Discovery coffee; the chocolate chip muffin was average, but it was nicely warmed up.

I love Liberty Cafe Ltd from back in 2013! The main Terminal for Central City Bus Depot is across the street. It's kiddie corner from 'The Old Spaghetti Factory'! I've been regularly in attendance in the past for Meet Ups with Family & Friends! I've been a regular customer & the owner knows my Favorite Hot Drink! I love the selection of Herbal Teas they have @ Liberty Cafe, and offer Free WI-FI! Its a convenient location with close proximity to the Conference Centre & the The Fairmont Empress! They have great selection of Breakfast sandwiches & Food to Take-Out if you're always on the "Go"! I love the Owners & their Family, it is a locally owned Coffee Shop at inexpensive prices! If you're downtown Victoria, and require a Short relaxing Break, they have Free Newspapers & Books to casually Read. Please enjoy your Hot/Cold Drink @ Liberty Cafe Ltd!

Oklahoman visiting a friend in Canada. I love chai tea latte's, and have had many from my state and surrounding states. So obviously I ordered one her. Of course I expected the tea scene around Victoria to be quite astounding, and Liberty Cafe did not disappoint. As an avid chai tea consumer, I have to say this, this place has the best one I've had. The latte was perfectly frothed, not too sugary and had the perfect amount of spice. As for my taste buds, I don't like chai tea to be too sweet or overly spiced. I was so happy with this that I went back later in the day and ordered another one after a long walk around Victoria. I'm sad I won't he able to frequent this shop to satisfy my taste buds more once I go back to the United States. Fantastic job Liberty Cafe!

Nice quiet place to enjoy coffee and read or get work done. Friendly baristas that know how to make your coffee just right. If you're nearby, definitely pay them a visit.

Serious safety issue WARNING. We stopped at the Liberty Cafe yesterday for a quick coffee and snack for the kids. We didn't stay. If you look at the picture of the interior of Liberty Cafe currently in Urban Spoon, you will see a display case right next to the till with a small warning sign down low that says "Caution HOT". Unfortunately, small children such as mine can't read yet. The display case contains nanaimo bars. You can probably guess what happened next. Both my kids put their hands on the bottom of the display case briefly and then screamed, and kept screaming, because the case is not only hot, it burned them. They both have blisters where they touched it. This effectively ended our day out and we had to take a cab home and apply aloe vera, ice, and bandaids. The workers were clueless and not in the least bit helpful or concerned. One of them gave us a bag of ice, when asked twice. <br/>My kids have never been burned before and they are well-behaved in public. They know not not to touch things like stoves and coffee makers - however, display cases with treats in them in the public areas of cafes do not usually blister the customer's skin.<br/>I'm going to complain to the Vancouver Island Health Authority today. NOT "kid-friendly!"

Burned my tongue terribly!. I live nearby, and I went to the Liberty Cafe & Deli for the first time today. The place is very cute, clean, nicely decorated. There was no line up, and I ordered a soy latte. I saw on a sign that Liberty uses Cafe Umbria coffee (mmm!) so I was anticipating something delicious. The barista handed me the drink and I eagerly took a sip - and BURNED my tongue and throat so badly!!!! As I left with my takeaway cup, even my hand was stinging from the heat.. Ouch! So disappointed. Baristas should either be experienced/ know what they're doing - or use a thermometer. There is no shortage of coffee shops in Victoria - so needless to say, I won't be back. :(

Transcendent pumpkin muffin. When I picked one up at 8:30 this morning, it was delicately scented and still warm.<br/>Under the sugar and spice crust, it was light. Like the inside of a pumpkin chiffon pie. <br/>I've never had a muffin like it. <br/>Three seconds of textural puzzlement were followed by pleasure that lasted to the final crumb. <br/>Not that it lasted long.<br/><br/>I also tried a raspberry mango muffin from Liberty last week and that was killer too.

Gorgeous Staff + Great Food. The title says it all. Gorgeous staff and great food. The foundation of any great Cafe. It was a little out of the way but worth the trip.

Very tasty!. If you're looking for a great lunch or snack, this is the place to go! Almost everything in the store is handmade by a couple ladies who works there as chefs. They make some really delicious salads and soups from scratch. They're not plain jane either - everything is very flavorful with a nice taste to it. My favorite so far is the Thai Chicken Salad and there's also a super yummy potato salad made with peppers and yams and zucchini. You can tell they put a lot of effort into it all, it's all homestyle. And the muffins! They make different kinds every morning, and they're huge! Just a few cents more than at Dutch Bakery, and like twice the size.<br/><br/>My other favorite thing to order is the iced tea. They brew it from scratch, all you have to do is choose from a selection of tea flavors, and they do it up for you really nice. My boyfriend's favorite drink is the Mellow Yellow smoothies, which is made with real fruit and juice and yogurt. So good!<br/><br/>The girls who work there are also friendly and helpful - especially if you need directions or have any questions, which is good since the shop's located right next to the bus depot and a block down from the waterfront, so they probably get a lot of tourists waiting & taking breaks there. It's a good thing they have big comfy chairs there, haha!<br/><br/>Overall experience: very positive. I'd definitely recommend this place to a friend or any traveller coming through Victoria.

I am a chocolate critic, they don't make it with chocolate syrup, but with chocolate milk, so it's not really sweet. I thought therewaa too much foam. There was no prices on their baked goods, but the chocolate chip loaf that I got was delish!

GREAT PLACE!!!!! WOULD GO AGAIN!. I went to Liberty cafe this past weekend with a friend and we were greatly surprised at how amazing it was. We went on a whim, as we pass it all the time on the bus, and it looked pretty funky. Turns out its a pretty great study spot! FREE WIFI and pretty reasonable prices for all beverages. The food was also really good, a huge selection to choose from compared to most cafes, and they had vegetarian and gluton free options! The music was fun, the staff was incredibly friendly, the WIFI was free and the food and coffee was great. What more can you ask for from a cafe? I would recommend this cafe for sure!
