Great Cafe. The cheese shop is good, the prices are not exorbitant, and the selection is fine. The cafe on the other hand is excellent. Boasting a small, weekly-changing menu – fresh and tasty food is around the corner. Highly recommend for people who like fresh seasonal food.
The whole package!. Charelli's is my happy place in Victoria. They have a fantastic selection of delicious cheeses, meats, and imported goods, with freshly baked bread available if you can get there early enough! The staff is phenomenal - friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and generous. You don't have to guess whether or not you will like something; samples are readily available to help you make your decision.
Charelli's is always busy, but I like the friendly camaraderie with staff and other customers. It's not a fast food place; Charelli's is a place to take your time and just enjoy the experience. I've never had to wait very long, even on busy days, and it's definitely worth the wait.

The best cheese shop in Victoria, maybe the west coast. Very European atmosphere. Great sandwiches and recipe ideas. Excellent and interesting assortment of oils, condiments , etc.
We took home two cheeses to try, a pungent but heavenly soft Quebec goat cheese and a hard nutty Comte from France. Both were amazing but it was the Comte that impressed us most.
Wonderful little place. They do sandwiches but they ran it of bread by 1pm, so go early. They were prepping some Dolmades and So I got a small box for $5. And a cut of Maréchal (swiss) cheese when they didn't have Wrangebach (Swedish) , which was a great recommendation because they are similar on my pallets!. The olives are BIG and Juicy. Their prices aren't bad either. They have small tables to sit outside the store to enjoy. What a gem this place is!
I have driven into town at least once a month for many many years to stock up at Charelli's. It is worth the trip. I generally send in an order a few days early and they have it ready by the time I arrive. Of course I usually add a few extra items once I look around the shop.
The quality of their cheeses, pate, sliced meats and frozen meals are exceptional, especially the Duck Confit. The service has always been professional, knowledgeable and friendly. There is always something new to find and try. This is one big reason to make the fifty minute trip.

Delicious! This shop was recommended to us by food industry professionals, and we finally were able to check it! Staff was very helpful, and I liked their choice they offered more than my own! I also noticed imported sweets, and, of course , couldn’t resist 💕 These cookies are to die for. Check their ingredients! Yes, the prices are higher but so is the quality. The sign “no photos” felt a bit unwelcome for me since I love to send photos of cool places I’ve found to my Mom. Can’t wait to get back and try more!
I was headed to get something to eat and as we passed by it was recommended I try the salmon lox bagel. It was a little expensive and worth it. It was fresh, delicious, and fairly filling.

This is a great spot to get somewhat more exotic cheeses and to inquire about ingredients that can't always be easily found in a grocery store. All of the staff I have spoken to are passionate and interested in cheeses, and have good suggestions of alternatives or other stores that may have what I was looking for. The staff are so friendly I would almost consider going there just to ask what cheese they were most excited about recently.
The store also has other fun odds and ends that facilitate or complement the eating of cheese.
I'm from Nanaimo and was called down to Victoria to help with deliveries for my freight company for the week due to lack of drivers in vic. I was lucky enough to get this delivery during my stay, this place is awsome! The staff are so pleasant, the store is really neat and the food is excellent!. They gave me a beef sandwich and wow! Was probably the best beef sandwich I've ever had. Loved the crunchy baguette! High quality beef and cheese, If you get a chance try it, you wont regret it : )
This place is awesome. All their in-store items are high quality. You can get everything you want to put on a charcuterie board! I even subscribe to cheeses of the month subscription, and I'm loving it! They also have a take-out window that serves hot fresh lunches. All super delicious at great prices. My favorite is the pulled pork. Their staff is all wonderful too. Highly recommend checking this place out.
This might just speak to expectations, but, given the 'I'd drive from the end of the world to get one of these sandwiches' type reviews, I was expecting a pretty special sandwich. It was just a nice baguette with meat, cheese, and a little mayo and mustard though. Just that and only that. Entirely edible but not what I'd call gourmet. Was it worth $20 for two? My wallet and taste buds agree that it was not. Very random collection of other deli items, but if you're looking for a jar of duck fat, I'd bet this might be one of very few places in Victoria that has it.
What a lovely little cheese shop! They have a wide variety of different cheeses and will sample them if you are unsure what you are going to be buying. I tasted one of the nicest blue cheeses here. They have quality product. There are also a lot of other things in the store like crackers and pasta and entertainment supplies. It's too bad they don't get more traffic because they are definitely worth it
We received the most amazing gift basket delivered from Charelli's. I have never seen such an interesting, fun and yummy collection of goodies before. All the foods are so original. I hesitate to put them away, just fun to look through them and appreciate the items. We have enjoyed the spectacular custom built charcuterie cheese and meet trays, and other gourmet offerings and orders with friends for years, and appreciate the special artistry, creativity and selection that are the hall mark of this business. Absolutely terrible customer service. As I was quietly looking at the menu, I was barked at through the takeout window that the business opens at 10 am as if I couldn't read a sign. I left and returned with some friends. After my friend ordered the same sandwich I did, they laughed and asked if it was a joke. Absolutely bizarre behaviour. After a 30 minute wait our sandwiches were ready. They were the best sandwiches I have had in years.
If you can tolerate the unprofessional "Karens," and the hideous wait times, you will be rewarded with the best sandwich in town.
Just the nicest bunch working here. Always very accommodating and friendly, they make excellent suggestions from an incredibly wide array of product. Also selling some great barware and hard to find cocktail ingredients. One of Victoria's gems.
A great local shop for the cheese lover or foodie in your life. I picked up great gifts from fancy marmalade to special cheese knives and chocolates. They sell gift cards too! A local institution, we love our cheeses in Victoria. Chiarelli's delivers the goods!
Incredible selection of pretty much everything a delicatessen should carry plus their lunch-time sandwiches are fantastic, simple with a high quality.
If you tell them what wine you will be having they easily suggest a delicious cheese to pair with! I'm a regular and proud of it.
I ordered the picnic box for two and it was excellent with a great selection of cheeses, paté, dip, olives and more. Lots of leftovers! Thank you so much for making a birthday picnic for my sister perfect.
Very impressed with the owners of this business. They have closed their shop but are now preparing take out meals and selling them from their take out window!
