Ordered take out, ended up staying to eat in restaurant and it was amazing felt like I was back in Mexico!! Our new favorite Mexican place for sure!! Can't wait to try more from the menu! Great service, fresh authentic food! So happy this is Victoria and now you need one in Langford, best Mexican on island by far!

Best Mexican food in the whole Victoria. My wife and I enjoyed delicious taste of Plato Fiesta. The best choice for those who are new to Mexican food. You get a little bit of every thing they have to offer. Trying it will help you decide what you like more for your next visit. We had a very nice evening, delicious food, a very friendly server. I just ate a late lunch at La Tortilla Mexicana today. I had the Taquitos Rancheros in red guajillo sauce with chicken broth. Contrary to one reviewer's input the cotija cheese was just right, and I love cabbage so I was a happy dinner. The flavours, the textures, smells were all just right and I am still stuffed. The service was a bit… timid (?) but ultimately friendly and welcoming. I'll be going next week for something different on the menu. Go to La Tortilla, experience it for yourself.
Hmmm, same name-but in old Rathskeller location on Quadra.
Owner (I assume) greeted us warmly and informed us that this was authentic Mexican "no burritos etc here", all items made in house.
Had the Huarache. They had 4-5 choices of fillings-I had the beef (?barboca) absolutely delicious. Two other folks in my group, one order of flautas (chicken) & one order tacos three tacos (she couldn't finish her meal) chose 3 diff fillings fish of the day (snapper), beef & chicken. We all greed the beef was the best!
& my dish was the clear winner :)

This place is authentic, hand made Mexican food. It's my new favourite place to go! I Flautas with rice and beans and some salsa verde is my fav dish- i even got one to go! The family that runs it are really warm, friendly accommodating people who make you feel like your in their own living room. This food is to die for, the atmosphere is worth the trip out to Esquimalt.
Went for the first time to this place as I have now moved into the neighbourhood. The service was great, the food very good and authentic (I lived in Mexico for 2 years). The price is also very reasonable...do check it out as the place is done up quite nicely. I am looking forward to eating there again!
Today I had the chicken enchiladas... Verde. They were amazing and are my new favourite on the menu. The Mexican coffee was great too! As usual, the service was friendly.

A bit off the beaten path but ABSOLUTELY worth a visit! Not only is the food amazing, the staff are extremely friendly and very attentive. No canned food is used, everything is made fresh and one site. Guac is even made to order :) Staff is excited to chat with you and tell you about their recipes.
Delicious authentic Mexican food. My husband and I tried this restaurant for the first time tonight and it was absolutely delicious! Authentic Mexican food - no Tex Mex here, fresh ingredients, everything made from scratch and very fair prices. The owner chatted with us and was so friendly and welcoming. We can't wait to go back and will make sure we tell others about this great little place.

This place is so authentic! The family that runs it is absolutely amazing and my favourite part is that you can choose to have vegetarian, vegan and gluten free! And yes they speak Spanish and have amazing stories! Worth every penny, and it's not even a lot of pennies!
Our new favourite Mexican restaurant. This place has delicious and authentic Mexican food. They use real Mexican queso, not feta, and their corn tortillas are fresh and hot. The family who owns / runs the place is super-friendly, too. I look forward to going back many times!

Wonderful experience!. Newly opened and a welcome edition to Esquimalt and the greater Victoria area. The staff was attentive, friendly and prompt. The food, made with fresh ingredients and cooked from scratch daily was amazing! Prices are affordable and you feel like you got your money's worth. It is well worth the visit to Esq.

No can food at all. And the best is that everything is cooked and made there (you have yto see how they make tortillas right there- ummmm yammy delicious and fresh.
So delighted to find a New Mexican restaurant in town. Great food, and more authentic then most in Victoria. Daily auga fresca and licuado flavors. What more could you want!? Can't wait for them to get more spicy salsa options. My only complaint not many vegetarian options. Bon provecho

I usually eat Texmex style. Was such a different experience eating authentic Mexican food. I feel like I entered Mexico once I went in that store. That restaurant was the closest thing I tasted to real Mexican food. The Enchilada with Pulled beef was out of this world and the hot sauce is home made has a strong kick to it. Overall felt like I was eating from a family not a business just a great place overall.
This is a great family owned and operated authentic Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious, the price is good vs portion size and the service is out of this world. Ricardo always makes my friends and I feel like family when we go for dinner.
If you havent checked this restaurant out, now is the time to do it!

I came here with a group of six for drinks and dinner. The food was DELICIOUS and the service was fantastic. I loved my dinner, it was so filling I couldn't finish it. Everything was fresh and authentic. I liked that the margaritas had blended ice and the little umbrellas were a nice touch. I will definitely be going back and would recommend this restaurant to a friend!

The food here is always good. Very flavorful. It's a family business and they really care about the quality of their food, your experience in their restaurant and everything is kept clean. There's always good music playing, you really get that Latin flavor vibe.
They let you customize your order somewhat as well when you have food allergies or dietary restrictions. The plantain dessert is really good as well.
I love love love the quesadilla, and I love how they put shredded cabbage on everything! Don't know how but it works, but it tastes really good.
The owner is usually there and he is very friendly, he even offers to teach you a few Spanish words or phrases. And he always remember a if you've been there before and he remembered where we were from and everything too.
Great place! The share platter is the best deal, great value for your money and you get to try everything!

Super delicious! Real Mexican food outside of Mexico, made 100% from scratch. If you want real Mexican food but can't go to Mexico, then go here. It's amazing! The staff are great as well. Ricardo is excellent at his job and so are the rest of his family. I know I have a new favourite restaurant!

If you like Tex-Mex food, go to Taco Time or Taco Bell, if you want AUTHENTIC Mexican food, you must go to La Tortilla Mexicana, Ricardo was an AMAZING guy and was really making sure we were enjoying out meal, not to mention, the food wasn’t good... it was DELICIOUS! I felt like Home, it’s been a while i haven’t got some good Mexican Food and i finally found it! Definitely will be back here and i recommend the place 10000000%!

I've been here so many times now. It is always a good experience! The food, the people, the decor. If you haven't been here have to check it out. Their fruit drinks are always delicious too! Though I couldn't find the drinks on the menu last time I was there.

I've lived in Victoria for over 24 years and I've never had anything even close to the real mexican home cooking you get here and I would know as I have family in Mexico as does my wife who is from Mexico. She also loves the food here and said to me it tastes exactly like at home.
For years I've been taking my dad (he's mexican) to a bunch of the local Mexican places. Everytime we went he would always be disappointed since the food was always super westernized and overpriced. I still like some of them (shout out tacofino, la Taqueria and la taquisa) but it's true that they aren't very authentic. This place is FULLY AUTHENTIC!! Such good food! Really brought me back to eating proper mexican in Mexico. Also the service was amazing, we asked to pay most of it in cash and then charge 3$ + tip on debit and he offered to just cover it! Of course we payed up but that's something I haven't once experienced here in Victoria. 10/10 would go again.
