We went to the Yates Street Taphouse for supper. I had heard good things so I was excited to try it.
The food was good, did the trick but I wasn't overly impressed.
I had the Yates Street Chicken Wrap and my boyfriend had the Chicken Bacon Ranch BBQ pizza.
If you're going for selection of beer they have a ton here and that was very impressive.
It was quite busy in the restaurant but the service could definitely be improved.
When we entered we asked to be seated so we could see the basketball game. The hostess told us she was pretty sure all the tables were taken so to find a seat at the bar. When we walked over there were open tables so I went back and asked if we could sit at one and said just said okay sure.
Our waitress was not mean, but not very friendly.
I'd maybe go back for beers and decent bar food but there's other places I'd rather go first.

Great burgers.. Favourite pub in town. Great app specials. Fish tacos are excellent. Possibly the best burger in town (try it with a bag of house made chips). Free pool and friendly battenders to boot. Highly recommend.
Lime chicken soup is wonderful -eats like a meal, with black beans and corn
I've stopped in for drinks and appies a handful of times and every time, the service is professional, the beers are cold and the food is tasty. Unlike many other establishments, the Taphouse focuses on making as many things in house, from burgers to sauces. No complaints here!
This is where the bartenders know how to pour Guinness. Had the awesome and tasty crab cakes, shrimp and pulled pork poutine. Will return for pints and delicious dishes.
The place to be. One of my favourite spots. Whether you sit up at the huge bar, or in a booth, or at a table, or even in the pool room the place is great. Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff. Very good daily and weekly specials. Busy most nights!
BEER!. Probably in my top 3 favorite places to hang out in Victoria! An incredible beer selection and delicious food! Probably the best Calimari I have eaten and I have trouble choosing between the 1/2 Roasted Chicken and the 12oz Rib Eye! But the BEST OF ALL!!! 40 beers on TAP!!!!! A go to place in the heart of Victoria! Try it!

Tower and eats. The main draw of the Yates St. Taphouse is the atmosphere for sure, however enjoying one of the many 40 plus local and import beers on tap is a must in Taphouses unique beer towers. Additionally the menu is suburb excellent burgers and appies supplement the great beer.
If your looking for an afternoon snack, a place to watch the game or have a party it the place to go. Plus the have free pool!

Here to stay, the Yates Street Taphouse offers more than just beer. The only thing I'm appalled at is the quality of the reviews on this site compared to the actual experience, service, and food I receive at the Yates St Taphouse each and every time I visit.
Having been there many times since it first opened, I have always left being completely satisfied, if not downright impressed with the food and the service I receive.
Compared to places like Cactus Club and Earls, I actually feel welcome at the Taphouse. That is why all of my co-workers started going here instead of those places, and why we even have our events catered by the Taphouse... the food is better, and again we just feel welcome.
Don't let these poor reviewers who MAY have had bad experiences turn you away... make your own decision and at least give this place a try.
I went to Yates Street Taphpuse bar without expectations. But I was happily surprised with how great the food was. We order the fish tacos and the Taphpuse burger. Both were very good. The service was not as good as the food. Our server was pleasant but she did have a tendency to forget about us. It happened a few times, when initially ordering drinks and again later with dessert. She may have been new. Overal solid place.
Good times. We went for some beers after dinner, and ordered a 'Tower' which is over a litre of beer in a tall cylinder shaped container with a tap. It was a loud, fun environment, but definitely a younger hipster scene. Overall a good time, the server could have been friendlier but it is a busy establishment.
I went for my first pint and a meal here a couple weekends ago. The beer was crisp and the food was hearty. It was out hot of the kitchen in a jiffy. The service however. Oh boy!! The service made me feel at home, i am visiting from belgium and never have had such warming service in all of north america. Two exceptional people who really stood out were marc, bartender i believe and a waitress named cortney. Both were so friendly. Will pass the word along for sure!

Love this place!. Came in to the Taphouse with my gf last Tuesday for music bingo. Which was so much fun! We were greeted and ended up being served by the lovely Courtney, who shared laughs with us all night, and the appies she brought were amazing! Fish tacos and spinach dip are the ones to go for.
A fantastic night, great service and awesome atmosphere!!! You have to give this place a visit!

Very impressed.. Great food, Amazing list of beers on tap (30+ I think!) and awesome deserts. Servers are friendly and helpful! Prices were decent, and serving sizes were great! Will definitely return!
Thumbs up. I was disappointed to hear The Office was gone but the Taphouse is just as good. Same great layout with a huge bar in the center, delicious food, great prices. I'll be back.
Great!. Tasty food, generous portions, excellent beer selection, attentive and friendly service.
It's a pretty pedestrian room as far as bars go, almost indistinguishable from The Office and it's previous incarnations, but the tap beer list is impressive, and being the only real bar in the movie theatre district, it's a good
place to have a post-movie drink.
Have been here a few times now. Food is awesome amazing beer choice. Staff is awesome. Will be coming back again and again!!
But in the end, with average (or slightly above) food, an establishment can be boosted if you have good atmosphere and good servers. Fortunately Taphouse does with than without and that's it's saving grace.
Went there to watch the second half of World Cup final. It was very crowded but they still had a few tables to accommodate us. Nice and relaxed atmosphere. We ordered Chorizo & Egg Taco and Eggs&toast. Our server, Elaine, was really nice and helpful. She helped to change the food a bit. They did not have any deserts in their morning menu, since we craved some sweet stuff she managed to serve us chocolate truffle cake which was nice. Pleasant experience.
Service was friendly and had a nice casual atmosphere. Important to note that the happy hour menu listed on their website is NOT the happy hour menu you are given in-person! It seems they also now have Taco Tuesdays, so all of the tacos were 3.50ea. Good value at that price, but I imagine I would have been underwhelmed had I paid full menu price 😬
Came here last Thursday and everyone was so friendly. There were 2 people at the host desk that were very nice. I sat at the bar and the bartender was really nice. I think there was a shift change happening at some point and the next bartender I got was super friendly and helpful as well. I got his awesome recommendation on a really tasty sour beer and I asked his recommendation on a good patio to check out. I would definitely come back here.
A nice place to grab some drinks some food and hang out with friends. They host trivia night which is fun and also difficult. The prices are okay and also the restaurant has the interesting concept of towers(1.5L) to serve beer, that is really interesting and cool. The service was not fast but not too slow. It is a clean place and the washrooms are clean as well.

I have now visited this place so many times that I can leave a solid review about it. In my heart this place is the true definition of a 4★ experience.
Beer selection, solid, nothing fancy, you gonna find something you like for sure. Are you going to find that special beer you've been looking for? Most likely not.
Food, solid. Whenever we are in a big group with multiple dietary restrictions, we come here as we can always find something for everyone. Yet none of the menu items alone stand out as the best in town for their category.
Service, solid. This of course changes depending on the server, how busy the place is and/or if there's an event going on. But overall I had 95%+ positive experiences. Yet none of them truly memorable.
A big thing they get is different nights for events, like sports events, trivia night and others things of the sort.
This was a great bar. We went their to watch football .The service was excellent. The bartender and I believe the manager ( a built Asian man) were very attentive and knowledgeable about Victoria. I'm a tourist so I really appreciated it . I had a Mimosa tower . Pretty good. I must say you might want to add more wine to it ..... Pizza was tasty and the "COD " hit the spot .SOOO GOOD . Thanks .
Wrong food was delivered, waitress never came back to check how we were doing, and she never brought the vinegar we asked for. However, right food (chicken taco) came out pretty fast and it was delicious.

I've been going here for years and I always enjoy myself! This place has a great atmosphere with a long bar right down the center and a couple pool tables off to the side!
Good vibes, good service, great deals. The staff is always friendly and the food and drinks are exactly what you pay for. Fun billiards and lots of TV viewing angles. Fun street view from some seating areas a large bar and skylights make for a pleasant experience each time. Bathrooms are well maintained as well.

A group of ten of us recently reserved a small section (semi-private) on a Saturday for lunch and we were all incredibly pleased with the service and the super yummy food and cocktails. The prices were very reasonable ($15 menu specials) as well and our server, Maddy, was a true rockstar. Some of the guests had special diets and they had options for all of them (paleo, GF, keto, vegan). Looking forward to returning!
Great beer and a amazing starter's menu their humboldt squid was fantastic unlike any squid or calamari found in every bar and pub I have been to in Victoria
