Great Quality and Consistency. While they're not gonna attract the attention of foodies or win any awards for creativity, Broughton Street Deli serves up excellent quality and has consistently had great service. This little family business advertises that they are "where the locals eat", and it's the absolute truth of it. They don't BS and I've never been disappointed.
It's worth noting that they're one of the few places in town that has always dropped the price on their regular meals when my wife has ordered them with no meat- an astonishing number of places don't do that and I find it really sleazy. If I worked downtown more often I would be in here almost every day.
My wife and I stopped in after seeing their advertisement out side of Cora's. Great little place, very friendly service. I had the meat lovers omelette and it was delicious. Glad to support a local establishment over a big chain!
Best Deli in Victoria. I've been going to the Broughton Street Deli for over 3 years and I think it's the best deli in town. The food is all made on site and the owners and staff are fabulous. It has that neighborhood feel that most establishments lack. They make the best Americano and split pea soup; absolutely to die for. I'm moving to the mainland and will really miss my daily visit to the deli. I am a difficult customer to please so I don't recommend many restaurants. For anyone who hasn't had the chance to stop in yet, I highly recommend the Broughton Stree Deli.
Great breakfast and excellent service! We tried a couple of omelets and they were brimming with fresh veggies & meats. Server even offered to add avocado to mine when I asked for no cheese and then even realized before I did to have the toast un-buttered! Gluten-free bread available too..
Best sandwiches and soups!! Meat is cut right there and they have a lot of toppings to choose from. Everything is fresh and home made and delicious!! Good service too.
Definitely worth a stop. There are 4 things going for this sandwich shop. Delightful owners, good food location and reasonable prices. We recommend the fresh home made soups and the vietnamese sub sandwich. If you are a visitor to town, then the location near the legislature, the main museum and the harbour means you can walk here for lunch and a mid-day break with no problem. All the sandwiches are made to order - generous portions and fresh ingredients - and there is always a delicious soup to go along with them. They have recently started a simple breakfast menu as well. You will find a friendly smile greets you as well.

Broughton Deli is Great!. I Love the food at Broughton Deli. I have been going there a few times a week for about three years and have never had anything but a terrific reception and great food. I have also told a number of friends and family about the deli and they all have had a very favorable response to the staff and food. The Montreal smoked meat is one of my favorites but I have also enjoyed the tuna salad, chicken salad,egg salad and a number of the soups. The staff always has time for pleasant conversation and they greet you in a very friendly manner as if you were a family member.

Breakfast on Broughton Street. The breakfast sandwich at the Broughton Street Deli and a cup of their dark roast coffee is my morning meal three times a week. I think it's the smell of the freshly grilled bacon that gets me as I walk past the door. (Delicious)

Friendly Food. I got a really good impression of this deli. I was passing by and it looked inviting, and when I went in for lunch the owner was very nice and friendly. I had the Montreal Smoked meat and it was great. They also have a nice selection of goodies too, including some huge ginger snaps and the "worlds best" peanut butter cookies too.
Vietnamese Sandwich. Really likes it! Only place in Victoria to offer this amazing sandwich-a touch of the home country! I no longer need to go to Vancouver to pick up 20 for the family! I can satisfy my craving without taking a ferry ride! Everything in the sandwich is fresh and they even toast the buns for you to enjoy right away! Ton, I am very glad you came back to Victoria and share the Vietnamese sandwich with us!

Great place. I stop at the Broughton Street Deli once in a while for lunch. They have real Montreal smoked meat sandwiches, paninis, and a good selection of pastries. I love their curried vegetable soup. Soup and a sandwich will run you about $10, but it's good stuff.
If you have been to a larger city, like New York or Montreal, then you will know the beauty of a true deli. Walls lined with seemingly limitless offerings of cured foods, cheeses, sauces and sweets. The Broughton Street Deli isn't a shop in this vein. In

Literally my favourite place to get food in Victoria. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is THE BEST there is. Always SUPER FRESH AND TASTY. my favourite things are their Montreal meat sandwich with their homemade sweet and spic. Plus their chicken noodle soup reminds me of something my mom makes when I’m sick but even better. ( sorry mom). The chicken strips are like no others you’ve had in the city. They are buttery and taste like the are made fresh as well. The portions are HUGE and I can’t get over how delicious everything is. I’ve tried quite a few of the deserts and of course they do not disappoint. They taste homemade and so fresh. The Halong Bay Salad is something I tried new and of course it was exceptional like everything I’ve ever tried. Their food is worth every penny and I promise you won’t be disappointed. I’d start with the Montreal meat sandwich with homemade sweet and spicy mustard. You’ll thank me later. I’ve tried so many delis and sandwiches in Victoria since I’ve lived here my whole life and NOTHING EVEN COMES CLOSE TO THEIR INSANELY , DELICIOUS FOOD WHICH WILL HAVE YOU COMING BACK FOR MORE. Cute interior, central location, good service. I got the Montréal smoked meat sandwich and squash curry soup - The smoked meat isn't Schwartz or Dunn's quality but it was still good. The soup was delish.

Their smoked meat sandwiches are by far their best thing on menu. Pieces were fair and there is a tone of other options as well. They even have some Vietnamese dishes as well, most notably Vietnamese sandwiches.
The atmosphere is beautiful, almost reminding of a classic dinner. Service is extremely quick for how small yet busy it gets! I would most definitely recommend coming for some breakfast!
Had a smoked meat sandwich, meat was good but not the best I’ve had. Best smoked meat sandwich I had was in Montreal Canada. Best hot pastrami ever!!! It’s the kind of the place you never forget except the name.

I got their daily lunch special which I believe is the Montreal beef sandwich. Bread's really soft and fresh and the meat was succulent and fully loaded (ordered the super size). Polished off the coleslaw which tells you something because I usually despise coleslaw in general, and the chips are good sized and crisp. Owners running the shop are very polite and the food was made to order at a very decent speed (wife at the shop slicing away at the mandolin while husband was chatting with me and the work colleague who recommended this place to try)
For those who are griping about pricing of food... seriously, use your thinking caps on. Rent ain't cheap and they're in a prime location. They're not a franchise or a chain, and there is a lot of overhead plus the rising costs of food ingredients in general. It causes me to facepalm when shoddy reviewers make an incredible poor comparison when their education is lower than a 10th grader and have absolute zero business knowledge. The pricing is on par with the value of the entrees.
Anyway, keep up with the good work. I probably can't afford it on a daily basis because I'm usually a glutton with good food nowadays and can easily burn a hole if I'm not careful but definitely worth it as a weekly or monthly treat for me.
Good mom and pop style food. Decent price and easy going owner.

It was one of those early morning that I left the home without breakfast. After completing some early morning errands I was happy to see their sandwich board and decided to give it a shot. Glad I did.
Upon walking up to the enterance, I noticed a couple tables outside which was perfect considering it was a beautiful morning - sun shining and warm.
Once inside, the owner was very welcoming and the menu was easy to read. Looking around, the establishment has excellent covid safety measures in place while keeping it casual and preventing any awkwardness. We're all adapting to this new normal so it really a pleasure to be able to enter an establishment without feeling like covid is right there ready to attack you.
Please keep in mind, the owner has all the covid safety measures in place, yet the restaurant is still very inviting.
As for the food, I order a club sandwich with fries. One the best club sandwiches I've had in a long time. Fresh bread, fresh ingredients quick from time of order to time of food being placed in front of me.
Even though I chose to sit outside, the owner still made the effort to come out there to ensure I was enjoying the meal and had everything I desired.
I've walked by the sandwich board that he has on Douglas St @ Broughton St so many times yet haven't ventured in there before. Not sure what it was about this morning, but I'm glad I did and will definitely be back when I'm in Victoria.
Friendly, fast servings of sandwiches, soups, salads, including breakfast. Busy over the lunch hour (12-1p); there maybe a 8-10 minute wait. My order was delivered to my table while I still getting settled.
Dine-in available and COVID-protocals clearly identified: I found this reassuring and easy to navigate. While there, there were many takeout and delivery orders.
The Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich with potato chips and coleslaw ($13.95) was tasty and filling. The sandwich is on the small side compared to those from back East but right size for a fast bite. Sauerkraut would have been nice and I'll try hot mustard next time.
The Berry Banaza Smoothie ($5.95) bit on the small side but very refreshing.
Very friendly service and I felt my patronage was appreciated.
