Loved our experience at Chiba. The sushi rolls were on point and delicious. Service was a bit slow but nothing worrying
I love crispy sesame chicken, this place makes the best. One of my favorite lunch spots for a bento box meal.
I went here twice and they never disappoint me. Great care from servers ( greetings, serving and caring customer). Impressive food decoration and the ideas (or concept).
One of the best restaurants in town for steak dinners.
The last time I was at Chiba (July 28th, 2023) all four of us ordered the steak and it was blissful dining!
I also get pick up orders for steaks and rice with Chiba's sesame steak sauce. Try the steak, you will thank me. Cheers!
The owners are nice to converse with and are homely. The portions are generous. The wait isn't too long compared to some other Japanese restaurants in the city but I do understand whenever they're slower than their norm, it's because they got a sea of home deliveries they're on the clock for.
It's a shame they were forced to move to their current smaller location on Quadra, their new place doesn't have tatami rooms, one of the biggest charm to dine in. Blasted city; they're really trending hard to drive local restaurants away to take land and resell it to condo developers.
I encourage folks to try this place to show support for local businesses enduring trying times during the pandemic.
I highly recommend the Tuna and Salmon Oshi Sushi. If you are looking for a tuna and salmon mix, this roll is the perfect match. They use a special house sauce that upon the first bite, it just melts in your mouth. I've never tasted anything like this before. It truly is the perfect match. The owners are so lovely and friendly. This will be my forever go to sushi spot. #supportlocalbusiness

The service was great! Super friendly, and when I forgot my phone inside, one of the hostesses/servers ran down the street to give it to me! Excellent sushi and sashimi as well. The inside is very comfortable and relaxed, with gentle jazz music playing during the meal. Would recommend!
Truly the best sushi experience in Victoria. Not only did the sushi taste amazing, the presentation was great too. The staff and owners made my visit very rememberable, if you are looking for a family friendly small business to support, this is the place to go. I wouldn't recommend a better sushi place in Victoria!

Summary: likely the best delivery place for sushi in the city, seems to have a good kitchen but definitely not the best fish in the city, like some claim in reviews.
Definitely one of the most authentic interiors for a sushi place, it definitely leaves an impression when you go there once.
I haven’t eaten there in person for over half a decade, so I’ll be basing my review on their delivery food. I don’t recall being blown away by my last visit, so they’ve definitely improved in quality.
I ordered their assorted tempura and chef’s special sashimi, which is usually a good indicator of the quality of the restaurant, since it tests their kitchen and their sushi bar.
The tempura was crispy and still hot, indicative of a well-run kitchen. The batter was well-seasoned and perfectly golden, which is a huge leap over other sushi places offering delivery, where I’ve had brown or stuck-together pieces, indicating a bad fry cook or old oil. Not here! My only complaint is that the prawn was less cooked than the vegetables.
As for the sashimi, it came with sockeye salmon, white tuna, tuna belly (toro), hokkigai (surf clam), scallop, octopus, snapper (tai) and some really lovely red tuna. All of it was tasty and perfectly prepared (not cold or frozen, and cleaned properly). Probably the second or third best sashimi in the downtown area, after Nubo and my personal favourite and best in the city, Sen Zushi.
I’ll definitely order from here again, I’m excited to try some of their hot menu items and rolls.

Loved them in their original location but this was the first time we dined in at the new location - still really great food & very busy with take out orders.
The sushi here is fantastic and staff are lovely. I eat here often as I work nearby. I love the tuna toroko and yam & avocado roll. The sushi is always fresh and well made. I’m only giving 4 stars because the atmosphere could use some sprucing up and background music is boring. Please play better Japanese music! The whole building is in need of a reno.
Chiba Sushi is a great place for dinner. We have been going there since they were at their previous location and have never been disappointed.
