Super friendly staff and chefs are a big advantage of this restaurant. Looked like most of the people are regulars and absolutely loved the food. They're halal if I'm not wrong. Never tasted the dish covered in grape leaves and it was really good. Prawns and meat balls were just cracking. Overall a must visit restaurant.

Excellent! Very clean premises with polite, attentive staff. We had the lamb platter for two. The dinner included a Greek salad which had all fresh ingredients. The lamb was quite tender. Plenty of food for two adults and the price was very reasonable. We definitely will be visiting this restaurant again.

Really wonderful waitress! Great lunch. We enjoyed the dip trio, gyro plate and gyro pita. The pita bread and rice were fantastic. I loved the fresh salad.

I got calamari for a surprise treat with my friend. I was delicious despite being takeout (my choice despite your advice), still the best I've tried in this city, very tasty, nicely cooked. My friend also really enjoyed the treat, and we will be back for eat in!

Just checked with the restaurant and the only halal meat here is their lamb. They're not able to confirm if their chicken and beef are halal because of no halal label on the packaging. They also serve pork and the grill is used for all meats unless requested to be cooked separately.

We visited for the first time with a friend who wanted to have greek food. We ordered a few things to share and it was all great. The server was very knowledgeable and helped us with selections as we had some specific dietary things we wanted to have/not have.

This place is So. Freaking. Good.
It’s the best Greek food I’ve ever had.
The prices are higher and the portions are smaller than what I’m used to in Ontario, though. This means I can’t go often, but it’s certainly a treat when I do.
Gastronomy
Caveat emptor, this place recently changed ownership from the Greek food veterans who opened this place to an oriental female who unfortunately knows nothing about Greek food and seems to care even less. The resulting drop in food quality is staggering.  I went from being a regular to never setting foot there again. Unfortunately the previous operation wasn't viable either due to the "death-spiral" dynamics that have plagued the restaurant scene in Victoria for the past couple of decades, that will continue to spiral out of control in what amounts to a quasi hyper-inflationary Real Estate value environment where everyone's disposable income is being directed skyrocketing rent and mortgage payments, and where commercial lease rates for restaurant space have launched into orbit. Add the nasty annual property tax increase for all the pet projects of our incompetent Mayor & Council, plus the hordes of night-of-the-living dead junkies that are roaming our city streets, thanks also to them, and it's goodnight Irene for the restaurant industry.

I have been eating Eugene/Terry/Lee,s food for over 35 years and it is still in my top 3 favorite to eat of all time and i eat out alot! Don,t screw around , just get the gyros and spanikopita you will not be dissapointed.

Ate here few months ago as I "used to" like Eugene's. Same owners with Eugene's gone replaced by this sorry little upstart. Ordered the saddest plate of calamari ever served anywhere. Used to be real calamari....now it's soggy chicken mcnugget-like [barely swallowable] crap. When I mentioned this to the female owner, she exclaimed it was their wonderful version of filet squid. Yuck! Don't change what worked. I won't be back. So long Eugene's / Taverna. It took hours to get the greasy taste out if my mouth. Yuck!

I've ordered take out from here and it was so amazing! Some of the best Greek food. It also was ready within less then 15 minutes of ordering which was amazing! I can't wait to go for a sit down meal at the restaurant.

The service is poor and the food is not that great either. I expected better for the price that I paid - it's not even a full service restaurant. I never went to the previous location though, so maybe there is something I'm missing here.

PROS:<br/>- Nice atmosphere<br/>- Fresh food, good Greek standards that you want to see<br/>- Really good tzatziki portions and a side of tzatziki is reasonably priced<br/>- Items under $10 are priced well and good value<br/>- My partner had a lamb souvlaki platter. It was everything you would expect and they were happy to eat it. <br/>- The servers are attentive once you are sat. <br/>- The food is tasty and they have some menu items that general Victoria people have not seen at a Greek restaurant (tomato fritters = yum)<br/><br/>CONS:<br/>- So many servers running around and no one pays attention to the growing line at the door. "Someone will be with you shortly" goes a long way with a hangry line up. <br/>- I had the moussaka platter. The moussaka itself was tasty but it was waaaaay too small for paying $16.95. They call it a "platter" and you get moussaka, greek salad and a few extra olives. No pita, no dips, no rice. The word "platter" and the price would indicate some extras or a larger main portion.<br/><br/>Overall, pretty good. I would go back and try it again.

Outstanding new Greek restaurant in Cook St Village! They accommodated a big group of us for a bday. Food was excellent and the atmosphere was tastefully done. I'll be a regular!
