The best latin American food I've had since, well, latin America. The Arepas are better than most you can find in Colombia. Well done La Fogata, well done.
Sooo good! Quaint little take out place with a few stools.. Delicious Food friendly service
Had our first arepas!! SO good. Loved the food, people and friendly service. Can't wait to try the platanos this week!

Have you tried latinoamerican food? Do you like it? At La Fogata you will have the chance to discover new flavors. This place is on the "top ten best fast food" in Victoria, is a must try.....
Deliciosa la comida y más que nada muy buen el trato.
I love this place! The arepas are amazing and the flautas. The colombian hot dogs are delicious! Haven't eaten anything i havent loved! Empanadas are super awesome!
Best food latin place in Victoria
Excellent good. Go and try. Yummy.
Dining at La Fogata Latina on a rainy day like yesterday was like taking a tropical holiday in Latin America! So neat for our group of celiacs able to try deep-fried cassava, plantains or a tall smoothie of tropical juice made from Guanábana – a combination of strawberry & pineapple, sour citrus notes, creamy coconut-banana finish. That and a steady stream of Spanish-speaking customers made us wonder - were we really still in Victoria?! Owners Ernesto and Samy were keen to explain the ingredients - and the background of each gluten-free dish, how they were made and what was in the delicate sauces that came with them. Ask for the 'pink' sauce - delicious! Each dish was made from scratch, served hot and hand delivered to us with a smile! I think we tried every GF dish they offer - GF beef empanadas, chicken and beef arepas, deep-fried plantains & cassava with garlic-parsley sauce, pappas criolla (melt in your mouth nugget potatoes from Colombia) and my personal fave - grilled corn mazorca! Next time, I am going straight for the Colombian Poutine and a Plantain Sandwich! Thank you, Ernesto & Samy for introducing Victoria, BC to Colombia! Really good experience here, it was late afternoon and I had an amazing vegetable and cheese empanada. Perfectly crispy and melty. I'll definitely go back.
Don't listen to losers that post reviews about hot-dogs! It's a hot-dog so go review a coffee shop or complain elsewhere. hahaha. This place is amazing if you get the food they are here to serve which is great Columbian "street" style eats. Arepas are so full of flavor it's shocking and the empanadas although a little slim are also exactly what you want for flavor. I eat lunch here often when I'm pressed for time.
Best gluten free fast food in downtown! Love the Arepa, Flautas and she made GF quesadilla for the kids. Oh, and the green sauce!
Only thing to make it better would if the food was all local and organic.
Fantastic Hole-in-the-Wall. This is a superb small place serving up homemade fast food type Latin fare. We had a pork arepa and beef empanada. Both were amazing! Actually the pork arepa was one of the better things I've eaten all year. If you haven't gone before, you should definitely give it a try for lunch, dinner, or late night (saw on their card they are open til 4am). It is very small with a few bar stools and a high counter--that's all. It's not a sit down kind of place. We will definitely be back for a grab and go lunch in the future.
Exceeded expectations. I targeted this little place specifically because I wanted to try Arepa. I was imediatly greeted with a warm smile, and had the menu explained to me as it was clear it was my first time to La Fogata. I decided to try the Chorizo Arepa with a side of Yuka Frita. When everything was ready, there was a nice selection of home made sauces offered in addition to a variety of hot sauces. The food was well prepared, and it is clear the cook took pride in what she was serving. I will be back, and will definitely bring friends. I think I forgot to breath while I inhaled my lunch, and normally I am a very slow eater. Nice to see another great business run out of this tiny View street location.
I'll be returning for SURE. Because the new girl that works there since April is foxy! And really good at her job. Give this woman a raise!
Excellent. Great food and friendly staff! I still have not been in for the late night menu offered on Friday and Saturday, but what I have had during the daytime has been excellent. I meant to visit long before I did; now that I have eaten there I am in at least once a week. Highly recommended (unless you are allergic to flavour). Order the arepa and put lots of sauce on it!
Where Victoria Eats at the After Party Hour. Did you know Where Victoria eats Ethnic & Authentic Colombian Fast Food AFTER THE PARTY HOUR during the weekends?, right here @ La Fogata Latina Restaurants 749 View St. open Friday & Saturday nights from 11 Pm til 4 Am, come and try out tonight April 5th of 2013, our new product, Deep Fried Green Plantain with your favorite topping and Hogao Sauce ( fried onions, garlic and tomatoes) to melt your mouth
Tasty Snack. I have only had the Chorizo Arepa. I have been back a handful of times. Quick, reasonable prices and very tasty. If you are downtown and need a little pick me up or a late lunch, give this place a taste!
Too delicious!. My friends and I recently discovered this place and it has become a favorite!
The most amazing Latin food I ever tried, good service also, I'll bring all my Spanish speaker friends, well done La Fogata Latina
I went last night, had no real expectations & was utterly knocked on my ass by just how delicious the food was. I ate the beef chorizo arepa - I might eat nothing BUT beef chorizo arepas now for the rest of my natural life.
This modest little restaurant has singlehandedly put Columbia onto my travel radar. I want to go back to the mother country to eat my way across it... all because of that one little late night snack.
Tasty & Different. We order a chicken arepa, the dish with chorizo and sweet corn garnished with crushed potato chips and a pineapple sauce and a cuban sandwich- extremely tasty sandwich- wish it was bigger because we were sad that we ate it up so fast as it was so tasty- garlicky sauce, nice bits of meat, crisp and chewy bread- YUMMY. The arepa filling was very flavourful- the wrap part was a bit hard and dry though- but tasted nicely of corn. The corn dish was tasty and different- The smoky flavour of the chorizo went together very well with the sweetness of the corn. For about $20- a very nice and flavourful meal. Try the place out and see if you have the same opinion.
Great food! First time I've eaten a arepa. Loved it . The sauces are delicious. Can't wait to try the Cuba sandwich. Great service!
Arepas! Finally a place in Victoria to get this yummy Colombian treat. Good food in the little hole-in-the-wall where Pig bwgan
Love it!. I can't believe I've waited so long to try it. The Arepas are really good ! Cheap cheap cheap too, $5 will make any human-sized being quite full here, yet the quality of the ingredients seems high. Reward card system as well, and I know I'll be back 10 more times to earn my free meal!
I'm so glad to know about La Fogata Latina, I have a delicious "Arepa" with chorizo and beef. You have to try it, so good.
Have a Cubano!. Delicious, and open really late. This place won me over when i was wondering around downtown drunk and starving at 4am, the sign said closed, but they still insisted on serving me food, mucho gracias, La Fogata
A Wonderful Change!. After a few minutes of stepping into La Fogata, you almost forget you are in Victoria. Authentic Colombian music and decorations, warm atmosphere, and the smell of food grilling right in front of you is amazing ... and then you get to eat!!! The arapa's are SO perfect and you can go there every day for a month and have them slightly different each time with the different fillings and toppings ...highly recommended! And if you're real lucky, you'll get the place to yourself and have a great conversation with the cook!!!!
Great Fast Eats. What can I say? It's fast food with a little extra love. The arepa is a great hand-held "sandwich" with an abundance of flavour. The soft texture of the hand made thick tortilla is melt-in-your-mouth fresh; and is set off well with the inclusion of crunchy potato chip crumblings and well-seasoned meats. The garlic mayo and guacamole add a cacophony of flavours. Simple but effective "street food" style dining. A welcome addition to downtown ala Hernde'z and PIG preceding them in this small little View street alcove.
Yum. MMMMMMMM DELICIOUS AREPA. It was my first foray into Colombian food and it was delicioso!!! I had the pork arepa and it definitely did not disappoint!!
Memorable Shrimp Avocado Arepas!. Working downtown I find there is not much variety when it comes to lunches. But at La Fogata I was able to find a quick easy gluten free option in their Shrimp and Avocado Arepas. When I saw it on this site, I had to try it as mentioend alot of my favourite ingredients. It was exactly as tastey as it sounds.
I enjoyed it so much I ordered a second one! ( as I planned not to eat dinner that evening.) They are made generously and are under 7 dollars and are available on Fridays.
There are not many gluten free options that are like this in the downtown core. I would highly recommend this place, especially for those who work downtown. Just a couple of blocks off Douglas on View St. This quick stop is a quiet quality lunch break...highly recommended!

Wholesome street food. I really like this place, for their wholesome street food. Their gluten free options are very very tastey.
You can see it is prepared with care. The owners are usually there to serve you and you feel they enjoy it. They do not pressure anyone but allow you to take in the atmosphere until you are ready. They answer any questions you have willingly and serve with a smile.
You feel like you are in a good place, plain and simple.
¡Santa Vaca!. Daniel & Beatriz are warm, fun, friendly, remarkable human beings who also happen to be able to whip up some of the most delicious and authentic Colombian street food I've ever tasted outside of Colombia! Their establishment is full of music, laughter, artwork and love. The mouthwatering gastronomic selections they offer are a bonus! Try everything, but don't miss las arepas con pollo, queso, salsa de ajo, y cilantro!! Add a dash of salsa picante and you'll be instantly transported to the magical land of snow capped mountains, Amazonian jungle, pristine beaches and bustling cities that is COLOMBIA!!
Finally!. Finally some home-made Colombian food in Victoria. For those of you who are not afraid of tasting something new, go for the Arepas. If you like more classical "fast-food" fare, try the Hot Dog Colombian style... Yes, that's the way we eat hot dogs in Colombia. Enjoy!
Finally real latin food in Victoria. I was surpriced to see this little business bursting on friday nigth; Everybody was making plans to stop for a bite after drinks, so... I had to find out what all the buzz was about.
Great latin food, I had ceviche arepa. Mmmmmm. You have to try it. All in all it was a tasty meal for a even better price. Next time Colombian Hot dog
The Best Colombian Arepas!!!!. I love the Arepas (Thick Corn Tortilla filled with spices and meat).
friendly people!!!
Great quick snack. I tried the pork mazorka (sp?) and enjoyed it. At first I was put off by what appeared to be just a bowl of corn, but it was great. Sweet, savoury, and tasty. I really liked the pineapple sauce and crushed chips on top. The two people working (owner operators I assume) were both nice and clearly cared about what they were doing.
The only downside was their choice of to go product to serve food in. It would be nice to see something that can be recycled more easily than plastic forks and bowls.
Fantastic Food & Gracious Service. I became a fan of La Fogata when they were just open a couple of weeks. We came across it headed reluctantly to McD's to get some fast food. Beatriz and Daniel welcomed us in and explained their menu and how their dream was coming true.
I am a HUGE fan of the Mazorka with pork, I love all of the toppings and really enjoy an Postobon Apple soda. We've been back many times and never once disappointed. A hidden gem downtown, please be sure to take your taste buds for an excellent Columbian experience
Delicious. I have nothing bad to say about " La Fogata" The food is amazing and for price its a steal. I have tried the Mazorca's , Arepa's & Guacamole hot dog! The service is GREAT such friendly people,The grandmas chocolate is a must try. Thank you guys for opening this place! I hope all the best for this business & I can not wait for Empanada's to be on the menu :)
Great food and a welcoming environment.. Went in the other day for one of the decked out hot dogs. Topped with their pink sauce (ketchup/mayo), cheese, crumbled potato chips, onions, and pineapple sauce; this was one delicious hot dog (although a little pricey at $6.50, a regular dog is $4). The dog itself was nothing special, but it was the combination of the toppings that made it so tasty. I would like to see a better quality cheese (quesa maybe?) as well as a more suitable bun (not a big bready sub-style bun). While there, I also ordered and arepa and the grilled corn. The arepa tasted like fresh buttered popcorn in pita form. They should have these at all movie theaters. The grilled corn was so good with the same topping as the hot dog. I would love to try it with some chorizo added. Next visit will be to try the chili dog with avocado and a grilled corn bowl with chorizo. I hope they do well in their location as the couple working there were very friendly and chatted the whole time (I believe they serve late-night bar hours on weekends poor them).
Promising.... Good Mazorca, tasty arepas and really friendly staff. Shows promise to be a solid Victoria take-out spot. Downside is it took them over 10 minutes to make my food and I was the only person there. Don't know how that's going to work when you get a lunch rush or when the bars let out! Could just be cos they're new and ironing out the details. Either way go give it a try, it's good.
QUE VIVA COLOMBIA!!!!!!!!!. Thank you Thank you Thank you for opening a restaurant from COLOMBIA!!! I just came back from Cartagena and was missing some home cooking. Great people, great food. I hope to see more Colombian items on the menu!!!
GRACIAS :)
Open late on weekends!. Another great option for late night dining! Stopped here on the way home from the bar. It was mildly busy and the food took a bit of time by my drunken watch, but it was fresh and flavourful, and the servers were friendly. Kudos on the pineapple sauce.
Had an excellent pork arepa. Very tasty. Pork was moist, arepa flavourful. Will return and try the hot dogs for sure.
Nice little Columbian Place :). Great little place (its where Pig's original location was). The grilled corn was AMAZING, I would definately try that if you go. It comes with crushed potato chips and pineapple sauce on top, and managed to be sweet and savory at the same time, without being overpowering. The arepes were very good as well, crispy on the outside and creamy with feta on the inside. Would be nice if there was a vegetarian topping for the arepes though; only meat is offered and its a bit plain by itself. Friend had the hot dog with "Columbian" toppings and raved about it.
Mmhmm Mazorca... I made another visit to La Fogata Latina this morning, I was craving another one of their arepas. This time I topped the arepa( thick white corn cake with cheese) with mazorca( grilled corn). I added some smoked sausage, and it was so tasty, so comforting, and most importantly, filling! She topped the mazorca with some crumbled potato chips for some crunch, homemade pineapple sauce and a few other sauces and green onions. I sipped on some Ibarra hot chocolate, which has a hint of cinnamon in it. Overall, I could eat this type of food every day, go for a late breakfast or lunch!
We decided on a chicken arepa, a sort of bready pita/tortilla thing made from corn... I’d never had one before, but it was mighty tasty.
While this establishment's dig is a bit on the small side, the friendliness of the two owners here really needs to be noticed. On the first visit, he was helpful in explaining what made their fast food good. And I couldn't help but wonder how much of the Mesoamerican culture loves their maize?
Great Latin American street food, wonderfully portioned sandwiches, ready in under five minutes for around $5...
I really liked the tacos when I came in last time but I did not really enjoy the chicken empanadas. I’m sure someone else may, personally I feel they struggle to make chicken taste good, even in tacos, the pork ones are far superior - but their portions are good.
Not included in the pictures are free chips that they serve you while you wait for your meal - excellent service and they’re delicious.
All in all, I’d visit here again, have the pork options.
Honestly so delicious, food tastes so fresh. It is well plated and the amount sauce of options! My dear people of Google reviews, I have never felt so satisfied with the sauce options in my life.
Best Mexican food in Victoria. When you eat in, you get complimentary chips with the cutest little sauce containers with salsa & guacamole!
The food was phenomenal especially for the price, and the service was amazing!
HIGHLY recommend!!!!
The place is very comfortable, small room makes the feeling on being in a traditional "fondita". The food is authentic with original mexican flavors. The service is very good. Other than that is a very good spot to try authentic Mexican food.
There are better mexican food restaurants but this one won't disappoint you.
Best real Mexican food in Victoria, BC! Tastes like scrumptious Mexican street food. The staff is very friendly the food is incredibly delicious. I can’t believe someone said that is “tasteless” but they probably don’t have taste buds. Anyways I totally recommend this place 100%!! Cant wait to eat here again.
The enchiladas were amazing and loved the chips to start with the different salsas
Great little gem in the city. Super friendly staff:) Good prices too! Thank you, will definitely be back!!
This has to be the freshest and delicious Mexican food in Victoria. The staff are so nice and happy, the vibe is like family.
So yummy, very kind. I had the green chicken enchiladas and it was the perfect amount and super yummy! Highly recommend!
Hidden gem with only a few tables. Orders are taken at the front and your meals are brought out to you.
They brought us a carafe of chilled water and some complimentary chips and salsa.
I ordered the chicken enchiladas and my fiancée ordered the shrimp burrito. Both were outstanding (I pilfered a bite of hers)!
Reasonable prices, decent service, and quality food.
