Truly a hidden gem which makes me very pleased to be a patron when I’m in the area, run by a lovely young family. The udon noodles had a satisfying texture and the broth was hot and complexly flavourful. I ordered a special nigiri which was plated very appealingly, and had multiple levels of texture I wasn’t expecting, in a good way. The tempura was freshly made, hot, and crispy, not to mention the vegetables had lots of flavour. Highly recommend.
Popped in here for a quick dinner and found the cutest spot! Great service and even better sushi. The tempura was hot, crispy, and fresh, the rolls were made perfectly and the tea complimented the dinner perfectly. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back :)
Positive: price for 2 was $60 (2022); clean interior, service was great, and food was fresh and prepared fast. Tempura was extra crispy and fresh. Free parking available across the street.
Neg: none
Food for thought: limited tables and space. Outdoor sitting was available.
Simple & generous portion for fish.
I wish to have generous salads...
I understand everything is expensive these days, though.. thanks to the kitchen.
Fantastic, new creations and traditional foods. I enjoyed the vegetable udon very much and the angry Salmon roll was fantastic. All that I ordered was plated with care and to me it seemed genuine with care for the food and customer. Thank you!
Best/freshest sushi with the warmest owners. We have been coming here forever. They put a lot of effort into quality and we’ve always had amazing service. They also take great care when preparing my order as a celiac making sure to keep things separate and informing me about what’s gluten free on the menu. One of the best in the city for sure. Truly wonderful people! Great prices too.
Delicious sushi!!! Best price in Victoria for great sushi. I'm a teenager and I filled up on sushi for under 15$! I would recommend the rainbow roll. Also it has really fresh vegetables and ginger and the fish was great. On the rainbow roll it has tuna sockey salmon and coho salmon. The inside is an avacado California roll. My new favorite sushi restaurant on the south island!
Great little restaurant for sushi noodles and so much more. The quality of food is excellent and the owners are very nice. Great spot for dining out with family and friends.
The best sushi/price in Victoria at current. There are still many sushi restaurants that I used to go but they been increasing their prices so quick. With kind staff/chief and price, this is my top sushi restaurant in this town
Went to try sushi at Kissako today, it was good however we asked for low-sodium soy and I’m fairly certain that it was still the regular soy in a low-sodium bottle.
Besides that, the food is truly amazing and the quality is excellent. Sashimi slices are on point! The value is worth it.
Service could be a little better; we felt a little rushed out just because we finished our meal. Perhaps another server is needed instead of one person taking orders, serving and processing payments.
This little restaurant has great Sushi and it is always very fresh and tasty!
Coming from Vancouver where there’s no shortage of great sushi places, Kissako really blows it out of the water. High quality and fresh sushi with tasty flavour and beautiful plating. Highly recommend it!
Wow, this place is a gem! Fresh, delicious fish, soft atmosphere, exceptional customer service, great portion sizes, and there's even good jazz playing! Definitely coming back.
A very cosy restaurant with a diverse menu and food of exceptional quality. Fantastic.
I ordered on two consecutive days while visiting Victoria, once with table service and once for take-out. Deserves the high ratings it has already. Sushi rolls were fresh and great, the tempura was great, and the udon broth was really good. The sashimi was fine but could have been better, and I would not order again.
Fantastic taste!!! The best Japanese restaurant in Victoria!
There is some intangible quality to the food at Kissako that sets it above other sushi restaurants. Everything is made thoughtfully and with great care. Even the miso soup is exceptional! In my opinion this is one of the best and most under-rated sushi spots in Victoria. The staff is lovely too.
Quaint little restaurant. Excellent sushi. Great, friendly service by owners. The seafood salad has been consistently superb over several visits. The sashimi is always fresh and high quality. The regular and special rolls are great, with the right balance of rice, sauce and main ingredients. The presentation of the dishes is classy and this also sets this restaurant apart. A gem in the heart of the Oak Bay Village.
