This place is awesome - i walk
By it on my way to work in the morning . Cinnamon buns are amazing and kept warm . Korean Beef Sally Bun is my favourite !!! Get there early though - they sell out quick!
Cream Cheese Tomato Bacon. Best warm, it is both supremely comforting with the cream cheese/bacon while the tomato keeps it refreshing.
Go early!. Definitely go early in order to get the best selection. I've had a few different buns here and they have all been delicious. And very filling, I ate 2 in one sitting and regretted it because I was overfull!
LOVE IT! 9/10!. Great FOOD! Every single item is delicious! Staff are great and I love the tick off sheet for your salad, everything you want and it's so easy! Will definitely be going back often!
The owners are amazing to their customers, always friendly and sweet. You can't find a better lunch for a better value. Feta spinach bun and their cookies are my favourite.
So much love for Sally Bun!. Every time I walk by Sally Bun, I smile hard, because Sally Bun is awesome. Their many buns are delicious, their salads are fully customizable and huge, their soups are always spot on, and their staff members are amazing. Really lovely people, making really reasonably priced, delicious food.
I like to think of Sally Bun as my little secret, but you all should know what a gem this place is. Also, in summer the back patio is just beautiful.
Highly recommended!
Amazing! Delicious! Cheap!!! LOVE IT!!!!!!! This place is such a great little hole in the wall to go for lunch. Their Thai chicken buns are my favourite.
The staff are always fast and friendly, and the food is a very good price. Have found some of the buns to taste watery like canned vegetables, but the majority of the buns are delicious.
I've been going to Sally Bun for 10 years now, and I've never been disappointed. I LOVE the Cajun Mushroom and Tomato Bacon cream cheese buns. The cinnamon buns are exquisite, and they've got a crazy secluded garden patio out behind the shop. SB is definitely one of my favorite food joints in Vic
Stopped in for dessert after lunch at JJ's. Wasn't expecting much since I know this place is known for their buns/quick, inexpensive lunch. Was impressed with the brownie. It was moist, rich and very delicious. Good thing there was two of us since it was large enough to share. I know I'll be craving it again soon! Btw... The new owners are great too. :)
You can't go wrong!. Lunch with a drink for under five bucks -- are you kidding? Sally Bun has tons of awesome, tasty buns to choose from and the inside is cool to boot. My favorite's always been the ham and cheddar bun. Check it out! And if you're really hungry, grab two! ;)
Mostly great stuff!. The antique store owner was eating a beautiful soup and pointed us to Sally Bun, where we had an amazing lunch for an amazing price. The cream cheese mushroom bun was really delightful, the soup (spinach) tasted straight out of East Asia, and the cinnamon bun was yeasty and sugary and fantastic. Both of us felt satisfied for under $9 and we will definitely be back to try more. The staff were very nice (and international... Mexican, Venezuelan, Korean) and there's a beautiful garden in the back.
Update: of the several times we returned to Sally Bun we've been "accidentally" overcharged for our meals, several times. One time is one thing, but now I'm starting to wonder...
Also, the tomato soup - not so good. Tastes like pureed tomato from the can with a few herbs sprinkled in. If it's tomato soup day "just say no".
Love It!. I've been coming to this husband and wife run place for years. It's a hidden secret that only locals seem to know about. Lots of smiles and great food. It's a bustling, lively joint with brightly coloured walls, eclectic art and a funky, albeit unusual, back patio.
I love supporting locally-owned and managed places....especially when the staff are the owners! -Makes it consistently great.
One of Victoria's best lunch spots. I love everything about Sally Bun. The sally buns are always good. They are consistent. The owners (who are always working) are ultra friendly. The salads are awesome and a great value. A quick lunch of a Sally bun, a salad and a cookie or drink runs about $7! Just the sally bun itself is usually around $3 or $4. This has to be the best value for lunch in Victoria, and it is understandably popular - get there early or risk lining up or having a limited selection.
Also - try the chocolate chip cookie if you're into that sort of thing... it has to be the best in town - fresh, gooey and chewy every time! Also the garden in the back is a lovely place to eat lunch.
Awesome, cheap little lunch spot. If you can get lunch for under $3, it's automatically good. Sally Bun has tons of stuff for really, really cheap and most of them are delicious! They also have amazing salads. I come here all the time.
Nice little place on upper Fort. Blueberry pecan cinnamon bun - a real treat!
International Foodie
+4.5
Great place, cheap eats!. Ate here the other day, was thoroughly impressed. I got a salad and "Sally Bun" for less than $10 and left completely full and satisfied. Really friendly service, and whoever came up with the concept is a genius! Will be back, and will definitely recommend to friends.
Don't walk, RUN to Sally Bun!. Today was my second time visiting Sally Bun, and I can say for sure that SB and I are going to have a great relationship! The first bun I had was the cajun mushroom and cream cheese bun. I had it warmed up and it was very tasty. Not too spicy with a good ratio of mushroom to cream cheese. I also had the potato corn soup on the same visit, also very good. Today I had the pastrami and provolone bun, straight out of the oven. There was a huge amount of meat inside and the cheese was still melted from the oven. SO GOOD. Fresh ingredients, home made food, great prices, and friendly staff make Sally Bun the place to be at lunch time.
Once you try their food, you'll be hooked!. I admit it...I am a Sally Bun junkie. Whenever I travel to Victoria, I always make a point of stopping in for my 'fix'! I have brought many a friend there and now they are all hooked. I gotta tell you... their salads are nothing like any salad I have ever had . You can choose what you want in them and they make their own dressings and they are to die for! They should not be called salads... they should be called an 'event'.
Their buns are amazing... they make them there and the flavour is absolutely heavenly. They have stuff baked inside and again, you can choose what you want. I had a smoked salmon and cream cheese one the other day and oh my... soooooo good!
It is a family-run place and so very friendly. You always feel welcome there. Now that the weather is nice, they have their garden spot open out back... such a lovely place to eat! YUM!! But consider yourself warned...you will be hooked!
Delicious buns aside, I've always loved the almost ornate decor of Sally Bun.
Super friendly service and of course, super delicious buns! It is to die for.
Hidden little cafe with lots of character. The reason for eating here are the buns themselves. Inexpensive and super tasty.
Hidden gem!!! I could eat there every day!! And such value compared to most around here. Homemade buns stuffed with amazingness! Very nice people running it and they know how to make buns!!! The cinnamon buns are top quality as well!! Try to go real early when it's all still hot out of the oven.
This is my go to lunch spot. The buns are amazing, every one I've tried has been great. They also have really good soup, and their soup and bun combo is one of the cheapest lunches you can get downtown. The owners are super friendly and polite, and you can tell how much they care about the quality of everything they make. The cinnamon buns are also worth going out of your way for (the blueberry pecan ones are amazing).
Went here for breakfast, and got different buns to try out. All flavours taste really good and they have different varieties. Would recommend
You should go here! Friendliest staff ever! I had a Hamburger bun, my wife had the curry chicken. Tastes great! Then a cinnamon buns each. Then ordered 2 salt bulbs and 2 cinnamon buns to take home! The young lady serving went above and beyond. Everyone that came in seemed to be regulars. Steady, always people in the ordering line, but no waits.it was Monday about lunch, but easy parking in front of the shop. We came from Vancouver, and are always pleased and delighted when we come by. DON'T MISS OUT!
Delicious food, quaint setting, good music and very nice owners. Had the cheddar and egg bun and a latte. Very satisfying.
Fantastic breakfast buns! Very friendly staff! I highly recommend you try this place if you’re looking for a flavourful, and well priced breakfast on the go!
Absolutely amazing food with fabulous prices! You can get a meal here for under $10 a person because their buns are so filling! I love coming here. Everything I have tried has been delicious. If you want something a little more or different they have lovely salads and soups as well.
Friendly service and delicious cinnamon buns can be found here. 👍🏽😋
Did a takeout latte and cinnamon buns. Buns were quite tasty: soft, simple, lots of cinnamon which is nice (may benefit from a slight simple icing as an option). The latte wasn't very good (the coffee part seemed a little off/burnt). Very friendly and good prices.
I may give them another try with their other buns/food. Maybe I had bad luck with the latte.
Great quality, excellent value, owner is very friendly. A great lunch spot.
Amazing! I have concluded that all food from now on must be in bun-form. Perfectly Sally-bun form.
The best stuffed buns. And under $5 per bun...this is probably the best bang for buck food place in all of Greater Victoria. That's all you need to know.
Holy good golly gosh. You haven’t had a bun like this before. So go have one
Succumbed to the smell of their fresh, yummy buns and gave this quaint, local spot a try. My fresh salad was delicious and perfectly paired with a tuna melt. Enjoying it on their outdoor patio as we speak. Go here!
Honestly I love it, the owners are the sweetest and the food is great. In the summer the rear patio garden was always so nice to sit and eat in. I used to come often when I lived in Victoria and try to go every time I visit.
