Review Sizzling Tandoor - Victoria

Munim Chowdhury
Serves good Indian food. Price is on par with other Indian restaurants in Victoria BC. We had Butter Chicken, Chicken Tikka Masala, and the Mixed Sizzler, with Garlic Naan and Rice. The food was good. The garlic naan could have had a bit more hint of garlic to it. The staff were very friendly and cooperative.

Food was pretty good, the server was also very polite and made sure that we weren’t missing anything (don’t remember his name but we went at around 8 pm on Sunday, August 20, 2023). The food was out quickly and it wasn’t that expensive (at least to me). The lighting and the music were all excellent and set an amazing atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and come here again.

We were to this place today evening and we ordered chole bature. The service was awesome and the food was very very tasty. The waitress Anu was absolutely awesome. She checked with us now and then and made sure that we were served well and taken care of at all times. She was very efficient and always had a smile on her face. This lady deserves a hike. Awesome service.

Slightly above average Indian food, with warm service and added flair from their signature sizzling platters. The butter chicken and sizzling tandoor paneer dishes were good, though the latter came out burnt the first time (see picture). They quickly fixed the issue and had a fresh, properly cooked dish to replace it though.

This place in Langford is good to get your Indian food fix. Friendly staff and as the food was very reasonably priced. The happy hour prices for alcohol is good as well. It was busy on Friday night. Couldn’t take good pics this time. I will certainly visit again.

The portions are so big, and the food is so good, I decided to consume it all at once and almost saw Jesus. That's my first time trying biryani, and it was unbelievably tasty

Sizzling tandoor have always been one of my Indian cuisine choice. What is amazing is the service by Anu. I have been to this location multiple times this week and her smile and attention to details have been my reason to come back to this specific location. Yesturday I saw her working alone and taking care of the full resturant yet ever single time I needed something she was avaliable. She has great knowledge of the menu and drinks. Perfect customer service she derserves a raise! 10/10. I will be emailing the owner about my experience as well.

I really enjoyed my take out. I had butter chicken, plain naan, and veggie pakora. The pieces of chicken were large and very tender. The sauce, I ordered medium, had my brow sweating, and naan was large, more than enough to sop up the extra sauce. There were tasty cumin seeds in the rice. My wife had maner (spelling?) paneer, which she very much enjoyed. There are left overs for later which is really nice too. A very good meal!

Their food is so good , good quantity and good quality food which is worth for price. I love their prawn biriyani, Tandoor platter and their buffet is simply the best for money we pay. Cozy and comfortable place. They have parking lot.

The best food in Victoria. Period. Dal Makhani and paneer tikka masala was the best. Loved the paneer naans and seriously the garlic basil naans are simply the best in Canada. Nice owners, they come and talk to you and help you with recommendations. Staff is very friendly and welcoming! Perfect service!

Always solid, delicious and feels like it is cooked with love. Our go to for Indian food in the west shore.

Great food and staff is super nice. Beside decor needing a face-lift I totally recommend it. Delicious meal we had. Enjoy

Pleasantly surprised, the ambiance was chill, and the food probably the most authentic I have tried in Vancouver Island. Service was fast and very friendly .

Love the food but unfortunately it’s become too expensive to come in as a single person to get one curry - with taxes, tip and sub whole wheat roti comes out to about $28-$30. My favourites are paneer tikka masala and aloo gobhi. The dal makhani Is not very good

Well after arriving from India , this was my first experience at an Indian restaurant in Victoria. The samosa were awesome ... , Nan was bit oily and paneer pieces were huge . But not complaining , good experience overall and friendly staff as well. Buffet is worth for options available.

It was a blustery evening and we thought we'd try Sizzling Tandoor in Langford for some comforting Indian food. I mention this all the time but it's always a welcome sight to see successful downtown restaurants pop up out in the burbs where the population is booming and good local eateries are desperately needed. Sizzling Tandoor is one of those welcome additions.
We walked in and were greeted right away by the hostess. The big open space is chic and inviting and tastefully decorated with a modern aesthetic. A nice place for a quiet meal or date night.
Service was on point, especially the general manager Kirn who was incredibly warm, welcoming, sincere and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with her and she made some excellent recommendations for us.
Food was served promptly starting with the pakoras which were crisp on outside, soft and flavourful on inside. The tamarind chutney was the perfect accompaniment. The warm naan arrived bubbled and charred ever so slightly from being baked on the walls of the tandoori oven. We tried both the traditional garlic basil and spinach-stuffed and they were delicious. The hubs enjoyed the tandoori chicken marinated in yogurt and spices, grilled in the clay oven, and served sizzling hot on a cast iron platter. The tikka masala curry with prawns was my favourite dish. Rich, creamy, spicy, complex flavours. The best tikka masala sauce I've ever tasted. I've been craving it ever since...
The lunch buffet special sounds like a deal and a good opportunity to try different dishes, including vegetarian. We opt to order off the menu for our favourite dishes and to adjust our preferred spice level. Prices are not inexpensive but quality is top.
We were thoroughly impressed with ambience, service and food.
Side note: We had visited just days before the devastating tragedy of one of their chefs being killed in a horrific car crash (he was struck on the sidewalk while on his way to work after celebrating his four-year-old son's birthday). When we heard the news we were shocked and heart-broken and to see Kirn rise up and start a fundraising campaign to support his wife -pregnant with twins- was incredibly heart-warming and a testament to the spirit of this restaurant. We will be back not only because of the delicious food but because of the family and community of people working at Sizzling Tandoor. Sizzling Tandoor is a wonderful addition to Langford and we highly recommend a visit.

We really like this restaurant in Uptown. Had to check out one in Langford. Food was good. The restorant itself is not. Feels like dining in a barn. Very impersonal design, dull light, super depressing music.
