Reviews The Spice Jammer

The food was really good! A bit slow (not too much though) but the servers do warn you that the kitchen prepares everything to order and that can take time. So the servers suggest ordering appetizers in case you're too hungry and can't wait which come to the table quite fast. They have vegan options and can also make dishes gluten free. The portions are quite feeling and even though I did not order any side rice or naan, I was stuffed with my order of the coconut Dahl. The service itself is a little slow as well but at least your waters are constantly being refilled! The decor is in a dark atmosphere but beautiful. There was a table right next to our table separating the restaurant from the kitchen and you could see crumbs and rice on there which did not look super clean. The servers were very friendly even though we had a Groupon, we didn't feel we were treated any differently than other customers (some other businesses honestly make you feel that way).

Apparently this place is easy to miss. Don't do it. Pretty sure this was the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Definitely going back.

The service and food was excellent. Good ambiance. They cook the food after you order and there's a bit of a wait - good if you're wanting time to chat with a date or something, not so good if you're in a rush or starving. I found the price a bit high for what it was. That said, I'll likely go back! There aren't other restaurants that I know of who offer a higher end experience with this kind of food.

I dined here last night with a party of seven and we all found the server to be be very attentive and helpful. The surroundings and decor was very pleasant. The food was very delicious with generous portions and very reasonably priced. We shall definitely be back and we all highly recommend Spice Jammer for delicious Indian cuisine.

We were visiting Victoria for the weekend in the summer of 2015, and had done some research about various resturants. Spice Jammer had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. I wish we'd gone here earlier in our trip as we would have come back for another meal or even two, that weekend! Their service was amazing - they were polite and attentive but they never hovered. The staff were very accommodating (I have a food allergy and they checked on a few items for me to ensure they were OK for me to eat) and the food was absolutely wonderful! If you like authentic Indian food, this is the place! We will be back on our next visit, for sure.

We had good service from very friendly waiters and the food was well prepared. We enjoyed our meal and will return. I don't rate the establishment with the full five stars because there are other Indian restaurants in Victoria which have a more complete menu and better ambience.

I grew up in England where there is an amazing selection of Indian restaurants. It is really difficult to find anything even comparable in Victoria, but this restaurant is the best that I have found so far. The spicing is elegant, textures are rich, breads are good. I recommend requesting extra spice if you are used to very hot curry. Meals do not come with a large selection of dips/sauces that I am accustomed to, but that seems to be the norm here. The staff get to know regulars and are very friendly. Decor isn't perfect, but it's pleasant and feels intimate for an open space. I have never seen it overly crowded.

This place is well camouflaged! I must have walked past it dozens of times. I got a Groupon coupon - with the address - and tried it out. Definitely one the better Indian restaurants. Servings were served quickly, and were hot and ample. Tasted great. I have already had one return visit, and will definitely go again.

Every time I have gone to The Spice Jammer or have ordered food from here it has been outstanding. The pakora were delicious and the staff have always been friendly. This is my favorite Indian place in town and the food is absolutely worth the slightly higher prices when compared to other Indian places in town. I would eat here every day if I could!

Great value with Groupon ($25 worth of food for $12-15). Great atmosphere, professional and friendly service. I tried the Kuku Paka since it's not the usual dish you find on a East Indian restaurant menu. It was interesting, but not the best curry I've had. Portions are on the smaller side for the price.

Always great food here. It can take a while to arrive, but that's because each dish is made from scratch. If you're ready to be patient and have a longer dining experience, this place is worth the wait!
