We have been searching for a great Vietnamese restaurant in Victoria and have always come up short...until today! We tried out Vietnamese House and it was delicious! We had the spring rolls, which you could tell were made in house and not from a frozen package. The broth for my pho was flavorful and my husband loved his lemongrass chicken bun. Best of all is their house made lemongrass chili sauce. We had it with our spring rolls and in the bun. SO much flavour and the perfect amount of heat. Top it all off with a relaxed and tidy atmosphere, and fantastic service from our server. Highly recommend!
Nice atmosphere and quick service! We got the salad rolls, house special pho, and iced coffees with condensed milk, and everything tasted great. I especially liked the sauce that came with the salad rolls. Can't wait to come back and try more dishes.
Nice, unique patio area with garden and gates, back from the sidewalk. If there are tables out there in more summer like weather then fantastic.
Very clean and upscale inside. I was there for Pho @based on the great reviews here and the cold/wet weather.
(Pho is this diners winter specific food cheat,...theres just something therapuetic about leaning over/close to a big bowl of soup?!).
The Pho was quite good. A good sized portion of sprouts/mint leaves and a lemon wedge as add ons were appreciated.
My server was the owner me thinks.
All good
I will return to try other menu items.
So far so tasty.
This is probably my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in town. Their attention to detail is great. They always have fresh vegetables and that homemade lemongrass chilli paste is out of this world good. I go here pretty much every time I make it to Vic. For sure recommend.
My wife and I had Pho and delicious Spring Rolls. The staff was friendly and responsive.
We are looking forward to having dinner with our Family here!
PS the Pork rolls were pretty amazing as well.
A comfortable, no-frills restaurant, with excellent food and service. You always feel welcomed, and are treated with respect. Consistently delicious meals and unusual taste treats, at a reasonable price. What more could you want?
Had pho tai (rare beef slices) and an order of the salad roll. Salad roll was a bit soft, not in a bad food kind of way, just accustomed to a nice crunch with them. Tasty peanut sauce came with it. Pho was delicious, very good broth. Awesome homemade chilli sauce that the proprietor was quite proud of. My only quibble was the charge for tea - not unreasonable I suppose but am accustomed to it being free with the meal. Would go back in a heartbeat.
Best Pho place in Victoria, hands down. The owner is super friendly and the staff are fast and polite. I definitely recommend this place to all you Pho lovers.
The food is excellent, and the staff are great. Very highly recommended.
#30 Lemongrass Chicken, Spring Rolls, Noodles and Salad. It's delicious, filling, and the combination of the chicken, spring rolls, salad and noodles give you a taste of everything.
Amazing!!!. Best Pho ever!!! I have been to a few and this place takes the cake!!! There homemade hot sauce is amazing!!!

+4.5
The spicy chicken or pork salad rolls are a must! A bit smaller than most other places but worth it. Try them without the usual peanut sauce, instead try their house made chili sauce, which beats all others in town. Insane!
At this point they are lightly staffed, so if you're going between 6-7pm be prepared to wait. But it's worth it! That chili sauce!!
Best kept secret in Victoria. AMAZING! Best pho soup I've ever had. Fresh ingredients, awesome taste, and incredibly well-priced!!! We love coming here or order for pick-up. The lack of parking is no biggie, there are always spots on the street in front.
Amazing food! Fast service and pleasant staff. Favourite vietnamese restaurant in Victoria!
Best Pho Broth. Went for Pho tonight... definitely the best broth in the city! Little skimpy on the meat but I can overlook that due to the quality.
Always Amazing!. We have eaten at the Vietnam House many times now and have never been disappointed. The Pho is very flavorful, the lemongrass chicken with egg roll is delicious, and the prawn and rice dish is definately worth trying! The ingredients are always fresh and the presentation is great. We normally order our food for take out (as we have a very energetic young one) which is alway fast (20min or less) and there has never been any errors with our order and the prices are really good for the quality of food you get. We are offered tea while we wait and always greated with a smile. I would definately recommend Vietnam House!
Great food!. I went there for lunch as I only recently noticed this place while driving by.
First I'll say that the service was timely and the staff were very pleasant. Second the food was great!
I love salad rolls and I love pho and theirs didn't disappoint. The spring rolls were tasty and the dipping sauce was a cut above all the rest. The pho was lovely and like the previous reviewer stated, they pay attention to their broth. It was tasty!
I'd have to say this place ranks highest so far for pho in town.
Vietnam house is hands down my favorite place for pho! The broth is flavorful and the noodles are the best! The service is always welcoming and friendly. I'm always excited to eat at the Vietnam House!
Good food good price. Wish they had air conditioning.
Super great service. Food is really good! Fair prices. Vietnam subs are so amazing! They're not on the menu, just ask. Salad rolls are delish!
Best in Victoria. Not since we visited south Vietnam have we tasted Vietnamese fare as good as that served at Vietnam House on Quadra St. Open only 3 weeks, and within walking distance of our home, - we were highly anticipating our first visit. For my husband, Andrew, and I - Vietnamese cuisine is one of our favourites. From street vendor to high end, and everything in between - we'd label our level of expertise in the medium to high range. The food at Vietnam House exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. Shrimp rolls, fried pork roll, papaya and tiger prawn salad, beef pho were all delicious - you could taste the freshness of each ingredient - the shrimp in the salad tasted like shrimp - not salty, allowing the delicate flavour of the dressing to be tasted equally. The broth was as much an olfactory treat as it was for the gustatory system. Each ingredient blended to perfection to make a tasty light broth which I could have consumed just on it's own! The portions are not what a lot of North Americans would call plentiful - but the prices are reasonable and encourage one to perhaps sample more? I found an appy and a salad more than enough - especially when one places emphasis on, and savours the flavour and quality of the ingredients more than occupying gut space. Beer, wine and liquor are not served - but a good assortment of pops and juices are available - Vietnamese coffees (I can't wait to return and try the Cafe Sua da). The small jug of iced water served on a hot evening was very much appreciated. Service was prompt and polite - although it was quiet the night we visited. Our food was served in not the order we expected - (appy, salad, appy, Pho) - which threw off our rhythm a bit, but we changed tack and just shared everything and loved the result. The decor is aesthetically pleasing and comfortable, with Vietnamese touches here and there - a tv for the children with seating inside and out. Whilst paying inside - we had opportunity to briefly meet and give our thanks to the chef - a friendly and jovial Vietnamese Mẹ who clearly knows her way around a broth pot and a rolling board. Without a doubt - this will become our local go-to place. Please visit, enjoy and share with your friends so this jewel stays where it is for a very long time. Cảm ơn!
My favorite Vietnamese in town. Oh how happy I was to run into to the owner at a grocery store in May (2013) saying they are opening again, but in a new location. I had been eating with these folks for a few years at their old location and now have been to their new location on Quadra at Tolmie (next to the Italian Bakery).
Very friendly owners that truly care about the food they prepare and ensuring service is excellent.
Contrary to what someone else wrote about the parking - there is in fact tons of street parking close by but no parking onsite at the restaurant itself except one spot right in front of the patio. All parking on the street is within seconds or 1-2 minutes walk to the restaurant.
I think this location was a very wise choice for them. Please go and see them - the food is awesome!
They make Vietnamese subs too. Not on the menu yet. Just need ask for one!
Great service, superb food and lovely surrounding. The food was delicious the atmosphere lovely and the server though new was very curteous and checked frequentlly. Check this place out it is my new favorite Vietnamese restaurant.
Service is lacking but yummy pho!. A Vietnamese restaurant with a patio! Although the view is a grocery store across the street, gotta love patios in the summer. This restaurant looks very sophisticated, nice chairs, colors, art, nice spoons for pho!...etc.
I really enjoyed my pho, I thought the beef was very tender and there was a lot of it. My rolls with peanut sauce were perfect.
My only complaint is the slow service. It took a lot of time for service, drinks to arrive, there were dirty dishes piled on many tables, even our own took a long time to clear. The pho was yummy, but not hot, and our tea was barely warm. I think this had to do with the slow service, our pho had time to cool down before they served it, same with our tea.
It was busy, but I think with more time the servers will be more experienced. They are very friendly and it won't prevent me from coming back!
Went to the new location on quadra and other than the lack of parking , gotta say I love it! I always judge a Vietnamese restaurant on its salad rolls and peanut sauce. I was not disappointed. Very good sauce that was a bit spicier than others I've had. The rolls were a bit small but good balance with the fillings. Also very fresh. I will return, over and over I'm sure!
Reopening!. Opening again on Quadra next to the Italian Bakery! So excited - love noodle soup!
I'm With You!!. My boyfriend and I used to frequent the Vietnam House often. Best Vietnamese food I've had in the city. And the staff were superb and friendly. I too, was shocked to drive past it one day and see it was closed! I'll sign the petition!!!
Best in the City!. But they've closed! Petition to reopen!?!? who's with me?
Excellent. Very good good food for a good price. I love these little family run places where the food is consistently excellent because it's always made by the same cook! Best spring rolls I have had in Vic so far and I love the lemongrass chicken. My girlfriend loves a good noodle soup and she is always very satisfied with theirs. Really good, healthy food for those on a budget or for those who are just looking for a good, but quick and cheap meal. Friendly owners who do a consistently great job.
I love this place! It's the only Vietnamese in town my boyfriend will go to with me it's that good and the service is amazing! I ordered take out and he brought me tea for my wait. I hear rumor the buildings being sold so come while this gem is still here!
Really friendly owners and great food. What more do you want? Love the lemongrass chicken and the pho.
Tasty!. Had a most wonderful Ginger Tofu in Vegetable dish! Very tasty, friendly owner. Will definitely be back!
Good food at resonable price. Friendly owners. Will definitely come back again.
This is a great little place with an authentic feel and flavor as well as great service and good prices. Family ran with pride. Try it and you won't be disappointed!
Delicious and inexpensive. I visit this restaurant regularly. The food is excellent and the prices are great. If you want delicious food and fast service for a good price this is the place to go.
Perfect Pho.. The owner was remarkably pleasant and friendly when we asked for his recommendation. He said the spicy beef noodle soup is the most popular item on the menu, so we gave it a try. It was total satisfying. The restaurant is tiny but feel spacious regardless, with some patrons around. Will definitely come back for more.
I personally quite liked Vietnam House. It was easy to find and get to, there is a bus stops right outside it practically. My entree was around $9.00, which I great for a university student, like myself. The major problem I had with this restaurant was the portion sizes. I was starving when I went for dinner, and assumed I was getting a huge bowl of food like I get from most other Vietnamese restaurants. This was not the case though, and I finished my meal quite quickly and am still hungry. But the meal was quite inexpensive, so I guess you get what you pay for
This restaurant is in a great location downtown between the theaters. The pho is pretty hood and the spring rolls are to die for and the service is very friendly. So far my favorite pho place in Victoria.
Vietnam House pays close attention to broth detail, and the result is that tangy, savoury/sweet lemongrass blend that fills all senses; very aromatic, and very easy on the taste buds
I've been going here for probably at least 10 years and I absolutely love this place. The staff are so kind and welcoming and the food is amazing. I love Vietnamese food and these folks do it RIGHT as I've throroughly enjoyed every dish I've tried. Warm relaxed atmosphere and a really nice patio in the summer. One of my favorite restaraunts in town, I recommend it highly to anyone who wants a delicious gnosh.
The restaurant seemed very clean and the seating is quite nice + plenty of room for dine in.
Service was fantastic from the beginning, greeted and orders taken quickly. Once ordered our food arrived fairly quick considering the amount of people dining in and orders for take out.
We had fruit juice (mango) and it was tasty. For our meal we had the spicy lemongrass chicken spring roll and Lemon grass chicken vermicelli.
All the portions were reasonable for the portion size. The food itself looked very presentable and was enjoyable.
I highly recommend trying this place out to get your Vietnamese meal fix!
the restaurant is very nicely decorated with relaxing music. The service was excellent, pretty quick and attentive, though they seem slightly busy as there were several other tables to serve. We ordered pork rolls, lemongrass chicken, house special and curry chicken. The food was also served within a reasonable time frame. The food was awesome! Taste great and the owner is Vietnamese -- some authentic dishes! Would definitely come again if possible!
I highly recommend trying this place. It is a local business with a cute and clean location. They have their own delicious recipes. The food is fresh and they provide an exceptional service . Must try!
Like a glimpse of paradise - a babbling brook, a cooling breeze, a lush garden. Never did I think I would find baby dill fish cake and tofu soup here on the Island. Broth was exceptional. Beef broth tastes like pure marrow, probably the best I've had in a long while. Kind and attentive service, what more could you want?
Great service and the flavours in the curry are delicious! Restaurant is clean and there is a patio for outdoor dining. Recommend a refreshing Vietnamese coffee for dessert.
The positive reviews are true!! One said the pho broth tastes like all marrow and after trying it I agree. All the ingredients were nice and fresh and cooked to perfection. The atmosphere is nicer than I'm used to at pho restaurants in Victoria (the seats are super comfortable). Overall great experience and very interested in trying more items on the menu. I had the classic rare steak and brisket pho and my other half had the prawn special. Both were perfect!!! Highly recommend.
I stumbled upon this gem because I moved in around the corner. Now, I LOVE pho. It’s actually my favourite food of all time, so obviously I was gonna check the scene in my new neighbourhood. Not only is their soul THE BEST I have ever had, the rest of the menu is spectacular as well.
The service is super friendly, and they really go the extra mile when they can. One time I called to do a take out order when they were closed. The chef / owner / dad (it’s a family run business) was in doing some work though so he picked up the phone. After letting me know they were closed (and hearing the slight disappointment in my voice) he asked what I wanted. He then prepared a rare been pho for me anyway ❤️
I’ve since moved away from that neighbourhood, but the family that owns it still recognizes me when I stop in :)
One more fun tidbit that I love about Vietnam House - they’re often playing instrumental jaws in the dining room, which is such a cute touch to the ambiance.
Highly recommend. Bring your family. Bring your friends. Or just pop in by yourself, which is what I do quite often.
Thanks for feeding me nutritious and delicious food Will & Fam ❤️
Reallu good food . Got a pho and salad rolls . Yumm
I ended up here in a sense by accident when my usual restaurant wasn’t open. I love pho and was glad to see this restaurant nearby on the map. I ordered the seafood pho and wasn’t disappointed. It included just enough seafood, vegetables, and noodles in a delicious broth. I tried a little of the house hot sauce as I love spicy food and it added a nice warmth. The service was excellent and I always appreciate when a server follows up soon after delivering the food to check if everything is as expected. The restaurant has a lovely decor and the music was subtle and relaxing. I’d recommend this to anyone who likes Vietnamese cuisine.
