Fast delivery, delicious food, large portions, and wonderful customer service!!
Very good food with fantastic service.
Huge portions can easily get two meals out of combo plates.
Yummy and big portion~ People always go back, they are always busy. Clean and good price too.
Reliable, fast and tasty! I like supporting Esquimalt businesses and this is a good one.
Best in Victoria, yeah you might have to wait because they're super busy sometimes but that's because they're the best. Hands down. Don't agree? Too bad, you're wrong.
Was looking for a cheap Chinese restaurant in Victoria that was actually open later than 8pm on a Monday and found Lum's. The portions are HUGE and very delicious. I had the combo D and she let me switch my chicken fried rice out for veggie fried rice free of charge. I also had the wonton soup, the broth was so good and the wontons were definitely hand made. Service was great, fast and friendly and our waitress was very accommodating to our substitutions. Definitely would go there again!
Delicious! Thank you so much for the excellent delivery service and excellent food! Perfect end to a lovely day ! 👍 it was a busy evening for them so they had an extra person helping with deliveries ! Enjoyed the combination meals! loved the food and next time I'm in Victoria I will stop in again 👍
Delicious food!!!. Delicious that's all I have to say!!! We called in twice for delivery and both times the young lady on the phone was super pleasant and helpful. The ginger beef was fantastic and so creepy. Chinise chowmain was awesome. We loved it :)
Pleasant surprise. Great service, very friendly and good food. Lum's is newly renovated and under new management. The Won Ton soup is great!!
Have had food twice in the last month. Once delivery and one we picked up. Both times have been great! We had always ordered from Mings but it had become so bad we needed to find a new place. We sure have and close to home as well. Keep up the good work Lums we will be back again and again.
AWESOME. The BEST Won Ton soup out there,, Can't wait for the re-opening so I can get my fill on the soup.. The owners are fabulous people, friendly and down to earth
Some people just write nasty reviews - this has always been our fall back place for Cantonese - it's very mom & pop, the food is decent, the place is clean
Ideal Food For A Night In. All the times I have ordered take out from Lum's Restaurant has been a great experience. The food is always hot when delivered to my door and it arrives at the approximate time that they tell me it will. The staple entrees I usually get is the Almond Chicken, Sweet and Sour Pork, Chicken Chow Mein, as well as the Wor Won Ton soup. I had heard about the soup from a friend and knew I just had to try it out and boy, did it ever meet my expectations! This is the perfect place for take out when I feel like having a night in with a few friends. Highly recommended!
Perfect Comfort Food. My tastes may not be as educated as other reviewers, however, I have eaten in restaurants from London all the way to Bangkok and everywhere in between, so when comes to good food, I know a thing or two.
Lum's Restaurant isn't exactly your modernist / Asian fusion type of place. Aside from some pretty traditional Chinese paintings adore the wall, the place is bright and simple. I really enjoyed the open kitchen where I could see the cooks in action. It is mainly a take out place but has some limited seating. It has comfortable, solid typical Chinese Canadian food. I don't come to Lums for it's décor or moody atmospheric, it is their Wor Wonton Soup that I come in for. In my opinion, it is the best in town and one of the best I have ever had anywhere. I believe a good Wonton Soup starts with a good soup broth. No MSG, no powder, no just add water and stir, its all real chicken bones that have are boiled for a long long time to give the soup a savoury chicken taste with great depth. The wontons are packed with well-seasoned real minced pork and green onion, the real meat deal.
A big bowl of tasty wontons in an hot aromatic soup broth, what can be a better "meal in a bowl" on a rainy night (of which we have more then our share on the west coast) than Lum's Wor Wonton Soup.
Wouldn’t get the chicken chow mein again, and the spring rolls were pretty greasy. But the beef and broccoli along with the Lum’s Special fried rice were great. I would order from here again for sure.
This is a western Chinese food gem. After reading the reviews I had to try this place out for myself. The noodles are savoury, mount watering soy sauced up and best of all cut into small sizes so you can pick up and eat comfortably. The sweet and sour pork has the perfect ratio of umami and sweetness. The coating was well done so it stands up to sitting in the sauce on the way home and the almond chicken actually tasted like almonds. This is not traditional preparation, this is western Canadian style done very well. The owners are fast, very friendly and gave me home made chili oil when I asked for hot sauce. The chili oil is hand down some of the smoothest and flavourful additions to the almond chicken IMO. Really can’t praise this place enough. These are the kind of places that have Chinese Canadians a deserving special place in Western Canada. Go during a rush to get fresh food and eat immediately for best results. Bravo.
"Lum's Chinese Restaurant" in Esquimalt has become my go-to for those unexpected late-night dinner cravings. This fast Chinese take-out joint offers more than just convenience—it’s a testament to consistency and value. The portions are downright generous, ensuring you get a hearty meal without breaking the bank. What sets Lum's apart is their commitment to serving the community beyond standard business hours. They've saved my evening on multiple occasions, providing a delicious meal when most places have shut their doors. If you're on the hunt for reliable, tasty, and well-priced Chinese fare, especially during the later hours, look no further than Lum's.
My mom and I have been ordering from Lum’s for almost 20 years now and they never disappoint. Also the girl who I just spoke with on the phone was incredibly sweet and friendly :) 5 stars!! They are the G.O.A.T
First time ordering from Lum's since I'm in Victoria for the week. I ordered some plain chowmein (just chowmein with beansprouts) and some spring rolls. I'll start with the chowmein which was good on flavor, a great portion size, but the noodles were slightly too thick for me. Now this is more of a personal preference but I prefer skinnier noodles as its easier to eat. I'm not knocking the dish, just that thick noodles isn't my preference. The spring rolls however, oh dam, they were delicious! Not to mention the low price they are, I should have ordered more. Highly recommend the spring rolls.
The best Chinese food in town.. hands down. Their dry garlic pork and beef and broccoli are absolutely amazing and their “Dinner for 1” is like 2-3 meals in 1. Staff are also very friendly if you are dining in. This is a family favourite! 10/10 recommend *chefs kiss*
amazing people and amazing food! by far the best Chinese food I've ever had. the lady accidentally made my custom order dinner for one without chop suey and made me a whole order of it by itself for free for the inconvenience :,)
Just had for the first time recently. Just moved here, so I was looking for a new Chinese place. Lum's was closest, so I figured I'd try it. The food was terrific, an astonishing amount for the $15 I paid. I did not get the order I asked for, but I wasn't disappointed. It could have been a miscommunication, and I will be going back to possibly update my review to a better rating.
My first time eating take out from here, and I was not disappointed. They serve pretty big portions of the meals, for a good price. We ended up with leftovers to eat the next day! The food tastes very authentic and delicious too, as someone who eats and makes Chinese food regularly with my husband. The staff there are multilingual but are still pleasant to talk to and show exceptional customer service when it comes to explaining and describing the menu items. The only one downside is that it's dining area closed down, and hasn't been re-opened since prior to COVID lockdown.
Regardless, I would come here again, whenever we are too busy or tired to cook dinner. I highly recommend trying Lum's food - you'll love it guaranteed if you're seeking affordable and authentic Chinese food in the area!
Lum's is number one! Combo 'E' like Echo for days. Switch fried rice for chow mein. Wow! Much like! Friendly and great value! Thanks!
This place is great, I ordered typical fair, Pork fried Rice, Chicken Chow Mein, some Ginger fried beef and sweet and sour pork. We had a shell fish allergy in our party and the chef was eager to accommodate and removed the oyster sauce. The people were super kind and grateful
everyone behind the counter was working like crazy, Awesome food, worth the price.
Very good pineapple ginger chicken. Nice selection of ginger. You can find it not like other places. Well made and lots of food
Hands down the best Chinese food in Victoria! They are always worth making the journey from wherever you live.
Arrived swiftly, delivery driver was kind and thoughtful, food was delicious and very good value. Best crispy ginger beef I’ve had in ages!
