Only go to to Trini on Sat. because I only order the goat dish and it's available only on weekends. The meat was tender and the sauce was flavourful. The chicken roti was good, but the goat dish was better.
I am so addicted to this place. I seriously might have a problem. The roti is so delicious! And if you get it spicy, my goodness, is it ever! Need to come by on the weekends to try their specials!
GOOD FOOD - WRONG LOCATION .... GOOD FOOD - WRONG LOCATION
their rotis are amazing
Cheesy name, awesome food. My brother took me to this place housed in a little strip mall in a residential area of Victoria. Half a dozen formica tables with kitchen chairs. Nothing Caribbean about the atmosphere in the place except for a few photos and knick-knacks from Trinidad. But the food - awesome. Fresh, pillowy roti shells filled with flavourful potato and chickpea curry and a variety of proteins. Get there early on Saturday or the doubles will be gone (for the uninitiated, doubles are fritters topped with a savoury curry chickpea stew. Not spicy unless you fix them that way. Delicious). The Buss up Shut goat curry is only available on Saturday as well. In addition to the roti options there are some fish dishes available including Trini - style fish and chips, but not tested on this visit. This is a great find.
Good Roti. Probably the best Roti in Victoria (probably the only Roti place here, though - I have had better out East too). Pretty early closing hours (7pm). Very tasty, not too pricey (around $10/dish). Would return.
Shrimp was very good, though, but not too many shrimp on the fries. Wish there were more.
Delicious! Spiced, not spicy :). Chicken Roti is my fave. The spices are so yummy! They adjust the hot sauce for you and are good with their spice levels.
Very flavorful! I get cravings for this all the time now. Roti is freshly made. Very filling. Good prices. Good service.
Casual, neighborly feel to the place. I usually get take out.
Love the roti, great spot. Unpretentious and great tastes - will definitely be back
Small Menu Big Food. Great little take-out/ casual dining restaurant. Initially we thought $9 was a bit expensive. The roti shells are made here by hand and the fillings are very tasty: we could hardly get through one delicious roti each. Just up from the Federal Forestry Bldg and next to the Burnside Mkt with easy parking and only a block of the GG Trail. Nothing greasy, everything grilled and traditional Trinidadian. Very friendly family owned & run; can answer all your questions about the food in Trinidad. Word of mouth is the best advertising, so try their food then spread the word.
Went there about 20 minutes before they closed and the owners were still cheery and quite helpful!
I had a pork and a chicken roti and they were both fantastic!! The roti itself was tender and flavorful. The pork and chicken were perfectly seasoned and the medium spice was as close to perfect as you can get.
I will be back for sure!
If you are reading this you should go too!
Wow first time eating here, amazing! Will go back many times
As Good As Port-Of-Spain. We don't get a lot of opportunities to try real Caribbean food in this part of the country, but thanks to Trini To D Bone, we now have access to deliciously spiced curry enveloped by soft, buttery roti any day of the week. Well, not Sunday. But Sunday is for recovering from the doubles on Saturday. (You MUST try the doubles!)
I highly recommend this restaurant! delicious, authentic carribean food.
The food is fantastic. The roti is definitely the best in Victoria.
Best Trinidadian food in all of BC! Everything is fantastic. Finally an authentic Caribbean restaurant in Victoria.

Holy YUM! My dad and I were down from Nanaimo for the day and wanted to try something different. When we saw this place on UrbanSpoon, having such good reviews, we had to come. We are so glad we did, and this place deserves the reviews. We got the chicken curry special and the shrimp roti. Both were sooooo delicious. The handmade roti bread was warm, and just the right texture between soft and chewy. The curry...mmmm. Their hot sauce is tasty, but be careful if you are sensitive to spice, because is it ever HOT. We both loved it. Our server was so sweet and nice. Definitely recommend, and will come back.
Yummy food. Great food, great service. The food came fast and it was delicious. I had the goat that they only serve on Fridays and Saturdays. The owner was very kind and informative about the food. He taught me how to properly eat it. It was finger food! I was using a fork and knife. Everything was clean and the bathroom was as well. One thing I hope they change is maybe use real plates instead of paper plates. I can't wait to come here again with more people so they can taste this wonderful food!
Absolutely amazing!!. I'm so glad I ventured out here as the restaurant is in a small plaza in the middle of nowhere. It's a casual place with a small menu, and the food is authentic and homemade. I had the shrimp roti and the roti shells were perfect. The order was enough for me but a male would need more food to fill up. My friend had a goat buss up shut and it was just as good. Lots of flavor. The owners were super friendly. I wish them the best. With great prices, I will definitely come back. If this restaurant was downtown, all the fast, take-out lunch joints would have serious competition! You have to try this place for real Caribbean food.
Best dhal puri since my mom's. And my aunt was Lovey of Lovey's Roti shop in Trinidad.
Fabulous goat curry with roti! Wow. I'll be back soon.
It's exactly what you want! My dad's from Trinidad and made food just like this for us! It's authentic, delicious and affordable. The shrimp roti is SO GOOD
Had the Chicken roti, absolutely delicious!
Chicken and shrimp roti are excellent. They are stuffed with chick peas and potatoes. Get there early on Sundays for doubles
Mmmmm delicious! The house hot sauce is so good and shrimp roti is to die for!
Great Roti's! Their homemade hot sauce is soooo good. Will definitely eat there again.
Wow, really good food. Neat little place on a small section of Burnside Road just off Mackenzie, but very convenient to the Island Hwy. This place was featured in the local Victoria newspaper on the Easter Weekend and that author acclaimed its instant following. We had to try it. Got there just before they closed but they were very friendly and happy to see us come from town. They said "no problem, we will stay open and cook you dinner". They explained the menu and what they are famous for (right now)...the roti. We opted for a sample of two rotis and a curry special. They don't have a liquor license yet as they have only been open for about three months, but I am sure this will come too. The food was served on disposable dishes which I would prefer to see real china but again it didn't hurt the taste. That was what we were looking for. And boy does their food pack taste. The home made hot sauce (habanaro based) was not too hot and a nice accompaniment.
All entrees are under $10 and are great value. Not a fan of the bare fluorescent light bulbs for lighting...but the walls are a colourful reminder of the Caribbean. I will definitely go back.
Best roti this side of North America. The food is healthy, fantastic and creative, the menu changes every day but has some standard items. The roti is avalable daily and every day has a different feature dish such as Goat or Duck (Friday or Saturday).
We shared the pork roti and the shrimp roti (which is part of the standard menu) and the chicken curry which was the featured Monday dish. Outstanding. Made even more outstanding with the hot sauce. All home made folks! And I mean fresh and not so hot to blow your head off but a very comfortable heat.
The service is very attentive, friendly and sincere. The people running the restaurant are very knowledgeable about proper authentic Trinidadian food. I live in Vancouver and frankly every time I am in Victoria I want to eat here.
I peeked into the kitchen and found a sparkling chefs paradise. So clean it was downright gleaming. Right on!
Hats off to Victoria for being this lucky to have this authentic and family run gem!
So good. The food is delicious and authentic as the people who own and work there are from Trinidad. They work hard and are very happy to please every customer who comes in. If you've ever been to Trinidad you will find the roti's are much bigger there. I hope they realize it's not that great value for the money and make those roti's bigger. People are warm, friendly and eager to please. Keep up the good work!
My new favourite. First time to TtDB and was pleasantly surprised. The roti that I had - the two rotis that I had were out of this world. Full of goodness and flavours and none of that loogeyness that might accompany a big meal. The people were fun and friendly and the colourful atmosphere (leave high expectations at home) will see me coming back for more!
This place is great! They are so friendly and kind here but more importantly the food is SO GOOD! The roti was really tender and the 'buss up shut' goat curry was great. I had the fish and chips and the fish was so flavorful, the fish is marinated overnight in Trini spices and seasonings and fried to tender perfection. Go there now! I know I will be back!

Went there a few weeks ago and instantly fell in love with the place . Being from Trinidad myself it is honestly like a breath of fresh air to have REAL trini food .. Owners are quickly becoming like family ;).. Bless !!
I just had to stop in recently for a taste of their food. I had the Chicken Roti with a little of the West Indian Hot sauce added. It was so fresh and so very delicious. I haven't had Dal Puri Roti since the 1970's when I'd gone to Trinidad for my honeymoon to meet my In-Laws for the 1st time. My 1st husband was an Immigrant from Trinidad.
I must go back again very soon, maybe even today to give myself a royal treat again.
The owners are very friendly and, I hope they do extremely well with their business. Go and have a taste of truly Authentic Trinidadian Food for a change, at a reasonable price to boot.
Yummy and authentic. Great rotisserie, curries and Trini doubles (small fried bread, with curry chickpea topping and hot sauce). Friendly family place, great value for money. Love it.
Trini to D-licious!. Fresh and authentic, we live in the neighbourhood and will continue coming back!
Everyone should try this food, it's great!!
Tasty Food. The food tasted like the food I know from home, in Trinibago.
Cant wait for them add more on the menu.
Fabulous food!. Went here with friends and this is the best roti I've ever had. Very fresh, excellent flavours, and filling. Very friendly owners, good service, basic menu and simple atmosphere. I'll be back again and again. Put Trini to D Bone on your "must go to" list.

I have been missing my mom's home cooking for years now! This is by far the best authentic Trini roti in Victoria! Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. Thanks Trini to D bone!!! I will be back with friends in tow. :)
I had enough friends who had thoroughly enjoyed this place bugging me to try it. To be fair, I knew of this place for a very long time being a former Spectrum student and always seeing this place going by. Kinda my fault for always driving by in a hurry and never actually stopping by to check them out.
My bus driver buddy who drives the 22 route urged me to go everytime whenever the both of us go by the place. So I decided to slow from my hectic schedule and dine in.
Um, this is one of those places where you want to implant your caboose into the seat and never leave. I could just sit for hours listening to Sean Paul and Daddy Yankee tracks inside this place and order half a dozen bottles of Ting eating roti. I ordered roast beef, chicken, and pulled pork roti. I had the first 2 on-site and the latter for take out because I had to stop procrastinating and leave in order to go back and continue packing and cleaning before my move out.
The roast beef is hands down my favorite. The chicken I was told was usually the customer favorite; don't get me wrong, it is delicious indeed but I still enjoyed the succulent roast beef more. I drove out of the place when the food comatose hit me hard and I needed to make an emergency landing 🛬... I mean pit stop 🚏 at my parent's place. I gifted away my pull pork roti to my brother and I hit a deep siesta in my mom's pergola. I was out cold for 3 hours.
I tell you; this was how satiated I was with the comfort food. No other meal I had to date puts me into a restful state post. I needed this, I was going through stressful times and this was healing soul food. Other reviewers are not kidding with accolades; try this place out.
This place was fire! Traveled up here from Seattle and stumbled upon this gem! Jeffrey (owner) was the nicest guy and he and the rest of the crew make some mean Roti! Had to come back again the next day (Saturday) for Doubles, which are only served that day. Well worth it! This made our Victoria trip what it was.
I received a recommendation from a local and decided to check this place out and boy was I ever glad that I did! The food is authentic Trinidadian fair, wow the Roti was fantastic and flavourful and tasty with rich curry potatoes and ample chicken I asked for mine extra spicy and it was very good! I highly recommend trying this place out! It’s family owned and operated and everything is lovingly prepared fresh! On Saturday get there early and try the Hot Doubles but they sell out fast!!!
Jeffrey and Nirmala are wonderful humans. We feel blessed that they chose to open a tiny restaurant right in our neighborhood - we view them as neighbors and friends and well as thriving entrepreneurs! Love the great food and culture.
This place is a gem. The food is delicious and I like the atmosphere. It's good to support an independent local business- give the roti a try, you will love it.
Best food I have had in the week I have been visiting Victoria. This spot was recommended to me and is awesome!
The staff are very welcoming.
The chicken is pulled, curried, perfection.
The pork is pulled, set in a sweet sauce.
Both were paired with a curried potato mash with chickpeas.
I ordered spicy. And it was.
Small location that you're not likely to sit at, though there are tables. My order took less than 10 minutes. Whether you stay or take out, you will be glad you ordered.
Feels like you’re in a Caribbean restaurant! Jeffrey is a fun guy and this husband and wife team are delightful. The food is delicious and flavorful spicy. I would have taken a photo but I just couldn’t wait to devour my pulled pork roti! Yum yum.
Delicious! Reminds me of my moms Trinidadian cooking! Miss these flavours and so glad to find a place with this level of quality in Victoria. It’s a must folks!

Had a nice visit at Trini to D Bone, it was our first visit but definitely not our last. I haven't had a roti this good since being back in Scarborough. The staff were amazing to talk to and they were very nice. A cozy restaurant serving some great food that doesn't make you wait too long to dig in. If you are going for doubles, they are only served on the weekends as they are in high demand, so much so, it's better to call ahead and place and order so you don't miss out. So happy we can get delicious food like this on the island. With way too many fast food places on the island, this place is a stand alone 💎 gem.
We’re visiting the city and a friend used to live in Victoria recommended this place. We are impressed of the food, the meat is so flavorful and tender, and the wrap pairs so well with the dish, amazing❤️ we ordered the pulled pork and goat (goat is only available on Fri&Sat) love both
