Best neighbourhood pub/resto in town! Front of house staff are knowledgeable, friendly and professional. The kitchen team constantly displays their dedication to their craft, redefining casual neighbourhood fare and always catering to the season. Craft beer selection is on point showcasing the best of what the west coast has to offer! The patio is a seasonal winner as well, a great place to chill after work.
Great food, great staff!!!! Everyone is super friendly and the patio in the summertime is super nice
I love coming to the fernwood inn! It's a great place to eat and drink, whether it's having a glass of wine, a family gathering, or casual jugs of beers and nachos with my pals. I would definitely recommend it!
Friendly, great service, and the food won't dissapoint you. Always leave room for dessert! Lovely patio for the summer with heaters for those cooler days.
Came to Fernwood for the final market night and decided to come for dinner. Great patio and awesome people watching. Love Fernwood area
Always wonderful, great staff and good food. It had been a regular place with no regrets
The Inn is like a little taste of Europe in the middle of Victoria. Nice specials, friendly staff and a great atmosphere. That part of Fernwood is one of the funkiest anywhere in town.
We enjoyed the professional service, great atmosphere and a menu that offers good value for a variety of tasty dishes.
Fernwood Inn is the bomb. Owned and managed by great people. Ive been in a handful of times and loved it. Great location and meeting place.
Great neighborhood pub. Love being able to take my sons there. Enjoy it every time I go.
The tiramisu dessert was incredibly delicious, and the pet-friendly patio added immense value to our visit. While the prices are not low, the outstanding food quality justifies the cost. The Shepherd's pie was particularly delightful, making it a must-try. Must have to visit in Victoria! The atmosphere was welcoming! Great job! Thanks!
Great place to catch up for a drink, date night, or just chill. Good food. Had the Salade Nicoise w extra ponsie sause. Tirimisu for dessert😀. The owner, Sarah came by to make sure everything was good.👍
Beautiful Restaurant. Great Service in such a cute part of town. I love Fernwood. But The food is so overpriced for what you get.
I got the kimchi beef brisket sandwich, which was such a sad meal. It barely had any meat in it. Picture is only half of the sandwich but it was not great meat and just so thin for how much I was paying for this meal. $26
Went with my fiancee and a friend a few weeks ago. Definitely a nice neighborhood pub- currently nice for outdoor seating, and seems to be OK with the dogs outdoors. The speed of service was good, we didn't have to wait longer than about 8-10 minutes until our order was taken, and it looked like a busy night. The food was brought out in a timely manner as well, nothing was missing, food was hot. I has the fish burger with avocado. Unfortunately the avocado didn't do so much for me but it was good nonetheless. I would definitely come back to try more menu items, as they looked really good as well.
Update: August 20, 2023
Good visit today, but something caught my attention that I had to update my review.
Great service, great attentiveness to cleaning our table, and offering more drinks, I am very happy with that!
Just a few things to comment on the food:
Hits:
Flavour of the "The Inn salad" - very tangy, the goat cheese is a lovely flavour with the raspberry, definitely a solid salad.
Crispy and sweet flavour of the "Honey Hot" chicken wings - great texture, has an amazing crunch, sweeter flavour than spicy.
Misses:
The all-too noticeable browning of the salad... I realize the salad is a nice blend of pigmented greens, but there were leaves that were nicely browned, and have that mushy consistency that definitely didn't go with fresh greens.
Now the flavour of the salad dressing, goat cheese, and almonds did a great job masking the flavour of the turning greens. But I did manage to get that odd consistency.
A second miss; the flavour of the "Classic Hot" wings was okay, just wished it was a bit spicier. The texture was also not as Crispy as the Honey Hot, which I know there's the possibility of these wings having a different treatment compared to other flavours, but the experience just wasn't as good.
Overall I may need to revisit and check out the other menu items to see if it was just an off day. Always a lovely neighborhood spot, with a great patio, though.

Stumbled across this gem off the beaten path on route to pick up a book at a used bookstore, and I'm really glad we did!! The historic charm of the building and neighbourhood is immediate. With street and retractable canopy outdoor seating, and indoor restaurant and bar places to sit, there are plenty of options to enjoy a beverage and a bite to eat. The food was great as was the service!
Server was wonderful, as we waited for our party to arrive and as we celebrated a birthday. Food and environment was great, and they allowed us to store the cake in their fridge. Server sang happy birthday and provided a lit candle and large knife to cut the cake.
The chicken strips were delicious! We had them on a bed of mixed french fries and sweet potato fries. Amazing! You can also opt for a half order if not as hungry.
Just finished a nice family dinner at the Fernwood Inn. The food was enjoyed by everyone (2 kids, 2 adults). I loved the fried chanterelles that were on on special - what a nice local treat!
The kids' menu was a bit on the limited side but my son actually enjoyed the side salad that came with his quesedilla. My daughter ended up getting a burger from the adult menu and was able to eat it all.
Lastly, the server was very good.
Only down side is finding parking in this area. I recommend you leave your car at home if you can. It's mostly local parking only in the area so the closest spot we found was about 15 minutes' walk away.
Visited the Fernwood Inn for a bite to eat with friends, and the staff was very accommodating by seating all nine of us outside on their heated patio. The chicken fingers were delicious and drinks were enjoyed by all. We will certainly be visiting here again in the future, maybe even for the ukulele event going on tonight!
Great little neighborhood Restaurant. Friendly and fast service. Gluten free options available. We had the Polenta, Prawns & Cholizo and the sweet potato fries and salad with a Dark Matter beer and a Cider. All were very tasty. The facility is surprizingly larger than obvious from the name plus Patio dining in the summer.
