Food is pretty tasty, good quality fish and portions were larger than expected. Servers are also really nice. Even if you order take out, the food looks so nicely packed. Recommended.

Visiting Victoria this week!
Came here for dinner as recommended by Google. We thought it was ok.. though, the price is on the high side. It was busy on a Thursday night... Service was not bad. But this is more of a restaurant that I would go once and done. Sorry 😣

Our "go to" sushi restaurant for special occasions and casual lunch with friends. Freshness and taste of the sushi are just amazing! Very friendly and attentive staff. Rei is exceptionally welcoming and helpful. Our new absolute favorite is "Baked Salmon Roll", just melts in your mouth!

If you're looking for a sushi place in Victoria I highly recommend this place. We went in 30-40min before closing because we had arrived in town later than expected, but their service was wonderful. Some places will show their frustration when you walk in late, I get it, but the servers here were professional, very friendly & helpful. I was trying to order everything all at once since they were taking last call but they have a wide selection so I was having a hard time choosing so the server helped recommend some items. Our waitress checked on us multiple times to make sure we were good.
Food also tasted very fresh & delicious. Sashimi pieces were nice & thick :) one of my favorite was the Tako Wasabi, will definitely wake you up. I'll definitely return when I visit the town again :)

Quality > quantity is what Gozen did best when I lived in Vic 4 years ago, and I'm so happy they haven't changed! I ordered agedshi tofu, yam roll, and some nigiri - everything was amazing!! Our server was very friendly the atmosphere was quiet out on the patio. Having sushi at Gozen is one of the things I miss most about living in Victoria and I'm glad to see they are still striving to be the best in the city. Stay awesome Gozen!!

The food is great. Super tasty and the portions generous. The price is very fair for the quality of the food. I liked it enough that I came back the next day for lunch because I wanted to try other items they have on their menu. The presentation is really nice. The soup was fantastic, the fish and salads are also very good. If you like Japanse food and are in Victoria, I definitely recommend you try this place out. We were served by 2 sister and they were so sweet. Made our experience that much more enjoyable.

The highlight was the marinated potatoes. The tempura was good, a bit oily (I needed to blot it) but not overly battered. If you’re looking for the tempura sauce it’s at the bottom of the cup. The salmon sashimi, salmon, tuna, and ebi sushi, and miso soup were mediocre. The tuna sashimi was weird…….when I bit into it it was like there was a plastic film inside….I was hungry so I still ate it. Overall, a nicely presented and filling meal for a reasonable price.

A great sushi restaurant downtown Victoria. We were sat right away and the drink options were very good. The menu has an excellent selection at different price points. The fish all tasted really fresh and excellent. The service was so friendly.

Gozen has a massive menu that stretches across a wide spectrum of Japanese cuisine! Overall an excellent place to dine.
Personal I would order the rolls. With so many to choose from, it would have to take a couple of visits to try them all. Their prices are fair, averaging around 8-17 dollars, the fancier the rolls the pricier it gets. I would highly recommend the rolls with mango! It’s also Vegetarian.
Surreal atmosphere and friendly service makes for a great time, I will definitely be coming back!

We ordered take out from here and it was absolutely delicious. I am super picky with sushi and if it is not really fresh, I cannot eat it. The sushi here was so fresh, I was able to eat and enjoy everything we ordered. Would highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you to the chef who prepared our delicious meal!

A random pick on a late Sunday evening. Every staff was very attentive and welcoming. The restaurant is spacious, very clean and has a warm homey feel. All ingredients were fresh. Tempura was nicely done, not soggy. A family meal with seniors, very satisfied. Recommended.

Prices seem a bit steep, but the portion sizes for the rolls are quite good. Noodles and rice bowls are a bit disappointing. I would stick to the sushi rolls. Also would recommend skipping the takoyaki

Wonderful sushi bar with very unique dishes. We had the North 49 roll, lunch sashimi box, the ramen lunch box, and dynamite mushroom caps. Everyone really enjoyed the food. The sashimi was super fresh and texture was perfect. The ramen was good, but likely not made in house. It’s a good option for non-sushi lovers. The lunch box came with a number of different sides that were flavourful. The tempura that came with the lunch set was great and the soya sauce is made in house. Overall just delicious with high quality ingredients, definitely recommend.

Great good. My boyfriend and I sat right up at the bar and it was enjoyable watching the sushi chefs concentrating in their crafted work. The sashimi tasted wonderful. One of the two rolls my boyfriend ordered was a bit on the spicy side but he was not aware of the sauce of the affected dish contained something that would affect his sensitive palate.
Overall a very nice experience and will come again in the future.

This is my favourite restaurant in Victoria, hands down (and we eat out very often). We were there 3 times last week! The food is fresh and absolutely delicious. The portion sizes are generous and the temperature things are served at is ideal (a pet peeve of mine). The head scratching thing is how reasonably priced the food and wine are (I don't drink beer so can't comment on the price of beer)! Do yourself a favour and try it before they realize that they are undercharging! 6 stars on a scale of 5!

The BEST sushi and Izakaya place I've ever been in Victoria! I really appreciated how food was professionally decorated and made. I learned food shouldn't just be tasty, it also need to be decorated well to entertain consumers' eyes. All food we tasted at Gozen was super delicious and had high quality. My friends and I were satisfied with the experience we had at Gozen. Staffs and chefs were so nice and kind. They were so professional for everything. After all good moments at Gozen, we couldnt allow ourselves not to give em good tips cuz they deserved it! I'd definitely recommend this awesome place to all of my acquaintances and friends! �

This new sushi izakaya place is AMAZING!! It is now my new favourite sushi place in the city. I had the Spicy Salmon Roll - made with red vinegar rice and the Spicy Ebi Bean....so delicious!!

Great presentation but that’s where the good stuff ends. Gross farmed salmon, tuna was stiff and over cold, hot food was mediocre...all for $20 at lunch! Over priced, low quality...I would go elsewhere.

Delicious sushi along with great presentation in a clean comfortable environment. As a bonus, the rice is made with red vinegar so it has less sugar which is a healthier choice than white rice. Highly recommended and will definitely be back for more.
