Review Shahi Pakwan - Vernon

Steve Grantham
We had chicken tikka masala and eggplant bharta and both were excellent. Very generous portions (we got two meals out of it) and very reasonable prices. We just got takeout so I can’t address the ambience of the restaurant but I did see a gorgeous rainbow as I was driving down to pick it up

This place is a complete gem. The quality of the food, the richness and deep flavours are all outstanding. I have lived all over and travelled, and this place stands out above many restaurants. Its such a rare and valued place, Vernon got lucky with this one.

I ordered the coconut chicken curry, coconut rice, chicken pakora and some garlic naan and it was all amazing! The portions are perfect for the price and the food was super tasty. I asked for medium spice and it was just the right amount.

We ordered food from here. The lady was extremely helpful and answered all our questions with patience. We loved the food and the serving was very gracious. Would definitely love to return and try more items from their menu.

Fair prices, good flavours and nice sized portions. 4 stars due to tough chicken and lacking a little consistency. Room for improvement but definitely could be worse.

The butter chicken is NOT traditional in the slightest. Tastes like they dumped a bottle of corn syrup in it. Sickeningly sweet. The vegetable coconut curry is inedible, i don’t even know how to describe the flavour on that one. Flavourless with a dash of dirt and bitterness? First time trying this place, and never will again. Nothing is homemade either. Their pakora batter is out of a box and not traditionally made. Pakoras are traditionally gluten free, they decided to take a short cut I guess. YUCK. What a shame.

Ordered a meal for a few people. Ordered gulab jamun for desert. Opened it up and they were obviously old. They were full of oil and shredded. They tasted old and stale. I looked into the container that housed the gulab jamun after I had disposed of them, and the container was misshapen. Obviously a sign of the oil soaking into the container and mishappening it. Only possible if it had been soaking for a few days. I definitely not recommend the Gulab jumun. And not as good as the naan stop.

Yummy food, good prices and hard working staff! We've been going here for quiet awhile and it's always me and my husbands go to when we are craving Curry. The Naan is A++++.
