Review Kyoto Sushi Bar - Vaughan

LaChine
We came in on a Monday evening (Family Day) and it was super duper packed to the brim with people waiting for their number to be called in the lobby. The wait wasn’t too bad, approximately 20 min or a little more like they told me when I called on the phone to check if they were taking walk-ins. Their venue was huge and seated at least 100 people. However, they should hire or upgrade their cleaning management. The tables were still sticky (despite being wiped down) and wobbly, their booths had food stains, their self-serve appetizer area was full of sticky tongs that left your hands feeling yucky and the dessert fridge looked like it got picked up from the dump and reused. Note: make sure to give the iPad a good wipe of the screen with a damp tissue or anything you got that can clean! The food was good though and the presentation of the plates had nothing for me to complain about. The servers were as nice as they can be despite having to run around like maniacs to serve all those tables! Overall: Food: 6 out of 10 Staff: 6 out of 10 Décor/Atmosphere: 3 out of 10

Great food, but you can tell they're overbooked and staff are overworked. The food takes upwards of 20 minutes to arrive, which isn't shocking because of the amount of people present at the restaurant. The staff are friendly, but they are scrambling just to fulfil everyone's order. At one point in time I saw some customers get angry with the servers, and I felt bad for the staff. They're definitely accepting too many reservations than what their staff can handle. It's a great place, but hopefully management will hire more people to meet demands.

This place is one of the best Good customer service and nice staff. There is a decent salad bar, and soups, and ice cream... Not the best selection of sweets and desserts! 😕 But, Price is reasonable and quality of the food is good. The only issue is that they do not take reservations so get ready to wait for an hour!

First time to be there it was very busy and no one tell me to register my name after 10 minutes wating. Then in the table no hi or welcome or if you like drink but we figured out the salad section and we helped our self. The tablets was low battery and we stayed without one until we asked .the food takes long time to come .the food not tasty and the staff not friendly no customer service at all. cleaning need attention and make sure to wipes the I pad before handed out .food is not worth the price &40.00 . Sorry it's bad experience ever 😠

Fresh sushi with a great service. The quality was unquestionable and was great. Ordering process was easy with an iPad and it was on the table very fast. Recommend all you can eat sushi place in the area.

I like their small salad bar cuz don’t need to place order whenever need more seaweed. Sushi and sashimi are as good as other AYCE, and meeting a robot waiter was fun experience:)

Not a good experience. Food is not worth the price of $37. Sushi rolls were falling apart and didn’t taste good. Salmon didn’t taste fresh. Green tea was extra and they don’t even mention it. Got a coke and discovered a whole receipt floating in our drink, nothing was done about this… just a simple “sorry”. Lol don’t come here, it’s a waste of money.

Food was delicious but service was horrible I requested on the tablet and in person for a drink but never got a drink asked and requested 3 times and never got it. Not going to the location again. They don't pay attention to the customers. Mind as well have the robots working instead of the waiters.

Kyoto is fantastic and always busy. The price is fantastic and the service is fast. The only reason I didn’t vote 5 stars is that there are not enough just veggie dishes like at Sake sushi on 27/7 but we love Kyoto good quality IMO. We go there often it’s so small and it’s a family owned franchise ❤️

Not a huge selection but some of the food is tasty. Would not recommend the sashimi think I got food poisoning cause my wife and myself spent all night on the toilet. Lastly what makes me not want to ever come back is because I ordered a soft drink which is free refills but was never told if I switch flavour that I would be charged again which did occur and for an extra 2 dollars they lost a potential customer for life! How cheap! It scares me when I think how low they would go for more than 2 dollars, far better places out there
Idma
okay prices. Its cheap after 8pm. However the sushi isn't as fresh or tasty, but i guess its the best you can do in Vaughan area. Go here if you need sushi and you're in the north west end of toronto

I have tried so many other sushi places in and around Vaughan, but I always return to Kyoto. Service and price is extremely good, and the sushi is done perfectly and in a timely fashion. The only downside to this spot is the size, quite small for the amount of customers it has, and the food (teriyaki chicken, etc.) is done better at other sushi places.

Service is very slow, food is mediocre, waitresses are lazy and blatantly ignore your calls when they're about to go on break. Not too bad, but I won't be coming back to this establishment again.

Kyoto Sushi is a little AYCE Sushi spot on the corner of Rutherford in a small corner plaza. The place inside is pretty decently sized but nice. They are split off into half sushi bar/ half dining room, with the dining room interior pretty nice and intimate. Ideal for a date.

The salmon rolls and salmon sushi were the best part of the meal. I found that many of the sushi rolls had quite a bit of rice, but the nigiri's were actually done very well and everything held together great. The hot food was nothing special but really dig the fried chicken, though that's not what an AYCE sushi place is really for. Hand rolls were good, not a lot of rice, and gave you plenty of meat.

It can get pretty packed and because the place is small and AYCE, it could be a while for a larger party. Service was good but like many places, tend to forget orders as it comes. Not much else I can say, though this place does have some nice lunch specials and won some kind of award as well.

WORST RESTAURANT EVER.
Disgusting service and found a FRIED fly in my food. I have never in my life faced such disgusting customer service in my entire life. Honestly do not eat here. Save your money and eat somewhere else.

This place is okay at best. Compared to Ginza, which is a couple minutes down the road, this place is one close step below. The service is also bit spotty, but to be fair they get really busy during lunch.

Of all the sushi places I've ever eaten at, this isn't the best. I know it, you may know it, as it's a AYCE however the best thing about it is the selection on the menu and the price they charge.

They have very good prices and their take-out menu has some great value. My personal favourite is their $25 maki platter. Also if you want a la carte rolls that are $3, $4 or $6 a piece so that makes ordering take out easy.

Kyoto is so dirty. I've found many worms in my edamame and today I found a little Beatle in my soya sauce. Make sure to check your food before you eat it...

WORST SERVICE. I advise you that when you are to be seated to make sure they seat you at the front. These servers are not attentive and forgets some of the orders as well. You have to call them every time you put in your order which is ridiculous because they should come to your table asap. Overall, the food is great but the worst service I had ever encounter.

Great Food - But Average Service. If you want all-you-can-eat sushi for a fair price in the area ($18-20 dollars per person) - then definitely consider Kyoto Sushi. Its generally quite full all the time - and there is quite a wide variety of food choices. It follows the typical format for all-you-can-eat sushi, i.e. you get a piece of paper and a pencil and can mark off all your food choices and continue ordering more and more rounds. The service is average - and usually you have to flag down a waitress to help you - but other than that - awesome :)

Would recommend - if you can handle the average service :)

Great place.... We like it so much that We are regulars for almost every Friday at lunch time... usually busy on Fridays at lunch and sometimes the same items take different amounts of time but the quality of the food is great, the service is good and friendly. Even when I ask for take out sometimes an extra roll comes as a token. We usually order Hand rolls, and sushi in general, and have now started ordering more frequently the small plate of fried rice which is pretty good. In general I think it is a great all you can eat sushi with fresh products.

I have had a horrible expe.... I have had a horrible
experiences at kyoto sushi . They claim that their restaurant is "all you can eat" but really they stop seriving you food. We waited for over an hour for our food to be delivered, but they continue to play games with us and do not give us our food. Obviously their motto is not "the customer is always right".

Went there with my wife and son for lunch. The place was busy, we got the last table. Surprisingly, the service was fast. The food was amazing, even my 3 year old son ate everything. It was our first time here and if the food and service are always like today, we will be regulars.

Not coming back any longer. We ate there to celebrate my wife's birthday...the worst service I've encountered so far..long waiting and 3 of our orders never came, even after we reminded the waitress about the missing orders...I was planning to take my friends there the moment we sat down, but immediately changed my mind and I'm not going to refer and promote this restaurant anymore to anyone I know who loves japanese sushi...Makimono in Woodbridge is way better

Fresh plate of yum. Great experience. We made reservations for last night (Saturday) and were seated immediately. Service was quick (surprised me because many suggested the service was slow) and the food was really tasty! The only thing I found tough was communicating with some of their wait staff who didn't really speak English very well. Nevertheless, I'd definitely return.

Excellent. Awesome price and friendly staff. Only Wish they did brown rice sushi..

Great AYCE in Vaughan. Ingredients are fresh, and I love the green dragon roll. Good price for AYCE lunch and dinner as well as the a la carte option. Must try the beef teriyaki! I will admit, sometimes service does suck...

Do not eat here i went with my girlfriend and her friends and we all had msg overload all of our stomachs were hurting. The service is also terrible, when ordering sushi they told me to finish what we have first before we order more even though its all you can eat. I didnt want what they ordered so i had to wait. Terrible place terrible food, loaded with msg do not eat here.

I have gone to kyoto sushi a few times and it has been good. I decided to go again with my sister and my nieces and have had the worst experience. There was about 4 waitresses working and only one decided to passby our table. We were constantly ignored. It was so bad that one of the waitresses went around every table for tea refills. And totally passed us. I used to vote this place as the best but now have totally lost my business.

The food is really good and the fish is very fresh but like most sushi places the service is inconsistent

+1 for best sushi in Vaughan. I have tried a few different places in a similar price range and this one is by far the best. I am of the opinion that paying more than $20 for a sushi dinner is a waste and at this place you can get away with $15 or less depending on your appetite. Price are incredible considering the quality of the food. My reco is to always go for the menu and not all you can eat. While the all you can eat price is good i find that i spend less by ordering from the menu (for two people we usually get 3-4 rolls and it works out to less than $15 each all in).

Great sushi, great price, service is good. Thumbs up!
Patrick
Best AYCE Sushi in Vaughan. I see some people saying it's the best sushi in Vaughan, no it's not, but I think it's the best AYCE sushi in Vaughan. The food is pretty good and they offer a lot unique menu items that other AYCE places don't. Particularly they offer red tuna sushi on their dinner menu, which you won't find at most AYCE sushi restaurants.

The prices are better than any other AYCE restaurant in Vaughan. My favourite menu item here is the Red Dragon Rolls.

Best sushi place in Vaughan period. Definitely my top 5. I don't know what people are talking about with MSG I had 1 drink the entire night. Awesome place and am planning more occasions there

Mediocre. Went in for lunch. Sushi isn't amazing but its not bad either. Chicken katsu was really good. Try any of the special rolls and you should be good. The regular rolls are ok. Chicken teriyaki was not that great.

Naha sushi has way better quality food in my opinion but its slightly expensive.

Bottomline, if you want an affordable all you can eat sushi restaurant with mediocre food quality, Kyoto Sushi is the place to go.

Service is sooo slow. Took forever for us to get our food, would not go back

YUM. I go all the time, the sushi is wonderful, and ive been to almost every place in woodbridge and this is definitely my favourite. Havent had the alll you can eat, always order from the menu from sashimi to handrolls everything is always fresh and they make it right then and there which makes me happy that it hasnt been just sitting around. Staff is soo nice, theyre very polite and i will be back in a couple of days.

Do not eat here I had MSG overload this has never happened to me before.. many people take their children here. PLEASE don't bring your children as they are especially sensitive to MSG. Very low quality sushi.

Amazing sushi, crispy crab roll is a must try. Sashimi is very good too. Prices are very cheap right now because of grand opening, about 2.50 a roll which is very cheap for takeout. I've been here about 5+ times and have ordered takeout over 10 times because it's so close to home. Overall great service and food. Highly recommend.

Fantastic. Would definitely return, great food, great price. Friendly staff, helpful. Crispy Crab & Salmon Roll a must try!

I loooove this place...i honestly can't believe it's an AYCE ...it's fresh and it really shows in the sashimi...the service is good...they are very friendly and polite...this beats Yangs Kitchen , hockey sushi....and the list goes on

GOOD WORK KYOTO. Just got back from dinner @ KYOTO 88. The food was fresh and tasted wonderful. The service was friendly and efficient. The owner came around and welcomed every table. I would definitely return.
Vaughan has been waiting for a good sushi place and we are wishing the owners at Kyoto the best of luck and prosperity!

Kyoto Mmmmm.... Kyoto Sushi is a wonderful restaurant. The staff is very friendly. The food is delicious. I come here at least once a week. It is definately one of my favourite spots to eat in Vaughan.

Check it out!

Just went for dinner the food was good, nicely presented. Party of five took us 11/2 hours to eat, not that much wait between servings. Would recommend filling out two order sheets,1 for the server and 1 to check off the food they bring. Staff seemed to get confused on the number of dishes ordered, some orders got lost in kitchen. No problem it's all you can eat so we just ordered more. Would defiantly go back.

Awesome food =). VERY GOOD! Ingredients very fresh and super friendly staff =) price is very reasonable
I am from woodbridge and i used to go all the way to toronto to have sushi but very happy to have something very good close to home!
i recommend this place to everyone it is consistent everytime i come here

Let me warn you that the food is salty and you will drink lots. I do not know if the soft drinks are refill unlimited but if you do choose to drink water, make sure you always ask for refills. The servers here aren’t very attentive but at the same time they aren’t horrible. If you are assertive, you will be served appropriately lols.
