Review Yang's Teppanyaki & Sushi - Vaughan

We ordered a lot of food and pretty happy with what we had. A very reasonable price for all you can eat menu has a variety number of small dish options to choose from. They also have 3 of the private tables for teriyaki meals with chef cooking at your table. It would be great for families and friends get together to enjoy a dinner/show together. The restaurant is clean and the service is very good. Too bad they only have one option for soup.

When I first went here years ago the food was great and so was the service. Now the food is good and the service is almost nonexistent. I shouldn't have to wait from a reservation at 7:30 until 8:20 to have the food start. Nobody came to check if we needed other drinks or a refill on our water. So many places expect a tip and you barely get service this is one of those places.

Possibly the worst AYCE sushi experience I ever had. I came in with high hopes this place would please our palettes, but the fish felt rubbery and the mackerel was extremely mushy and broke inside my mouth in a bad way. I only decently liked the beef enoki mushroom roll, but other than that the Sushi rolls felt really dry and left out in the room temperature for a very long amount of time. The soy sauce also was very watered down with water and I was very sadly disappointed as well with the Takoyakj and Scallops which came smothered in Kewpie mayo. Please see my photo provided of my “Volcanic Roll” which tasted sour & made of questionable ingredients. Everything felt very cheap and I was not happy after eating. The young waiters were lukewarm to us but didn’t say much or do anything spectacular to make our experience any better. We will not be returning unless the food preparations and quality of ingredients improve. I am very sorry but to give this experience a one star.

Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. Every item came out so fast and made-to-order. The staff are very nice, polite and hospitable. The patio was open and had a roof in case it rains. A lot of parking spots available. Overall everything was very good.

Awesome Teppanyaki Experience. I plan to do this again another time with my family to see if the show is different or the same depending on the chef. Great overall taste, kids had a blast. The only reason it didn't get five stars was because I'm looking for a little more showman ship from the chefs. Our chef did good but there is room for improvement and creativity. The Fillet minion was a perfect medium rare and the warm lychee saki is a must for saki lovers!!! If the next show is different and more interactive I will update to 5 stars.

The one star is for the beef short rib. The garlic beef is dryer than your nighty years old grandma’s skin. Sashimi is like rubber eraser mixed with condom, without soy sauce, it taste like plastic bag. The shrimp is bad like it was frozen for three years. The salmon sushi taste and look like eraser, I should take one back home as my eraser.

Dining room - all you can eat - really misses the mark. Staff are unable to fulfill any requests - they nod in agreement - but possibly have not understood what was asked. Food would have been great - especially our main - had the RICE come along with the meats/fish. The rice was served as we were ready to leave. Hardly worth the $ for all you can eat.

I went for a late dinner dine in all you can eat. Seating was quick. The food was fresh! Servers were very polite and asked how the food was, they made sure we were satisfied! It was delicious ! Thank to all employees at yangs! We definitely will be back !!

We made reservations for 7:30 pm. They told us to show up early. We didn’t get served until 11:00 pm!!! On top of that, the manager refused to give us any comp on our meals for making us waiting almost 3 hours for our food. We paid $180 for two of us. Then to make matters worse, on the way out the front door, my fiancé notices that one of the staff wrote “bad person” beside her name on the reservation/seating sheet. No apologies whatsoever! Instead, The manager tried to blame it on one of us instead of taking responsibility. He assured us that he would be watching the security cameras to see who wrote it. We haven’t heard back from him, of course. Worst dining experience I have ever had!

Good sushi..interesting drinks..Great service! Our server Nikita was amazing!
We entered 25 mins before closing time and still received a great service which in my opinion says a lot.

We went for lunch on a Saturday. The place had a few patrons at around noon, but we noticed that more guests started to come in closer to 1pm. While we were seated right away, we had to wait a bit for the chef to get the grill heated and ready. We ordered teppanyaki, of course. I got striploin steak for myself and chicken for the girls. Hubby and grandma had salmon and jumbo shrimps.

The girls were mesmerized by the show put on by the chef--from the initial blaze to his fiery volcano made of onions. Note that if you upgrade to fried rice, there are additional “stunts” with the eggs.

The food was just average and costs about $12-15 per person. It wasn’t great but it wasn’t bad either..

I think the only English our cook knew was the word FIRE which he yelled before dousing the grill with oil and making me fear for the safety of my arm hair. That's the kind of place this is. Dinner and a show. The food is probably one step above a resort teppanyaki place but it is entertaining to do this kind of thing every once in a while. As far as I can tell there isn't much that sets this place apart for others just like it but if you're in the burbs near Vaughn and want something other than Italian (what's wrong with you?) this place is fun. Though the stories of pretty bad service are mostly true.

Pretentious and terrible customer service. Had teppanyaki, sat at a table with a family who requested no garlic or onions in their food, but instead of separating the portions the chef just cooked everything without onions and garlic, including our portion. Even after we specifically told the waitress we want garlic and onions in ours.

They served the rice dish first so by the time the meat was ready we had finished all the rice so we were left to eat a plate full of overly oily and salty meat by itself. Between the amount of oil and the butter they used to cook, we ended up with a pool of oil at the bottom of our plate. Not appetizing at all.

Typically most Teppanyaki restaurants served chicken fried rice, but this place served salmon fried rice. You probably wouldn't think much of it but I can only assume that it's a ploy to rip you off since changing it back to chickenvegetable efried rice had a $4 extra cost with it. How I came to this conclusion? The servers told every single family they served salmon fried rice and asked if it was OK for them. If enough people had complained about the dish that they felt the need to confirm every order, it would probably make more sense to change the menu instead of asking everyone if they were OK with it.

Overall not a great experience and would never go again

Horrible Service. The food is ok but the service was horrible. They seated us an hour late and were rude and unorganized. Not an apology or even an offer of a free drink - NOTHING. We were there with a big group and found it hard to hear and talk to one another - the tappanyaki table was too big - not a good idea if your group is more than 6 people. I wont go back - the experience was too awful.

Place looks nice, staff is courteous, but food is bla. Price is above average. Not recommended

This place is terrible. You pay a lot of money for very little in return. Save your money and go to the keg or anywhere else but here. The food is awful. The wait staff are very slow. Major disappointed after reading good reviews. Don't waste your money and a meal going here. TRUST ME!

This place has gone down hill since my last visit 7 years ago. Food was baseline average, service was so so, and the teppanyaki was meh... looks like the place sold and bought a another owner.

Family Fun. Great place to go with the family, friendly atmosphere, good food and reasonably priced. The chef even allowed the kids to participate in the cooking.

Disappointed. My family was staying in Vaughan and had planned to get Japanese cuisine/sushi for dinner. I suggested we tried a Teppanyaki restaurant so we could watch the chef cook our food infront of us. When we arrived we were not seated at one of the chefs table so unfortunately we did not get a show with our dinner. We ordered teriyaki chicken, edamame, and avocado sushi rolls. The teriyaki chicken was rubbery and tough making it hard to chew and the flavour was less then pleasing, the avacodo sushi rolls were nothing special but still decent, and the eddame was too expensive for the quantity we received. Overall this restaurant was lacking in taste and a tad expensive, the only thing going for it is the automosphere. Service was decent but not exceptional and they forgot to include the dessert that was supposed to come with out meals. We didn't realize that we hadn't received our desserts until we got back to our hotel.

Our go to palce for authentic sushi. Yang is our go to place for authentic sushi. Their sushi is even better than Szechuan Szechuan. Yang screams authentic and real sushi like no other

Great tasting food. Great atmosphere and show. Fried rice and short ribs tasted excellent. Sushi was on par with it's sister restaurant, Yang's Kitchen. Would go again.

Always fun. This place is good for a date especially if you anticipate she may be boring... The teppan chefs get you involved whether you like it or not. The food is fairly average but definetely not bad. Probably a bit more expensive then your average teppan place but the cooks make it worth it.

I've been going here for years, great sushi, overall great menu and atmosphere. Menu is a bit pricy, but I still always go back for more.
Hi.kevin
Excellenet sushi. ~~Atmosphere~~
-Very pleasant, modern

~~Service~~
-Consistent
-Professional yet friendly and approachable for the most part.
-Courteous and ensured that the order of my dishes and EVEN timing at which it came out was smooth. Often times i find that when food comes out all at once in a bulk it becomes a little inconvenient. However the waiters here take the effort in making sure appetizers, sushi, main dish and dessert comes appropriately. Also with exceptions during busy hours.

~~Food~~
-I must admit sushi is a little more expensive then your conventional sushi restaurant. However i personally think the quality and portion justifies the pricing.

i ate lunch there one time and ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box for myself, a japanese curry katsudon bento for my gf and a toro tataki appetizer. First thing i notice for sushi, the essential presentation of rolls and sushi are well formed and tidy. I also noticed that the portion of their bento box is a lot bigger then most japanese restaurants.
For example: california roll and salmon roll were bigger, but IMPORTANT to note it wasn't just extra paddings of rice, but an overall roll is bigger while still maintaining a nice equilibrium among ingredients. The rice in the roll is also alot softer then u might find elsewhere, which is how u can tell the difference between quality material. Also the chicken breast they use is alot smoorther and tender compared to other restaurants i've tried where the meat is hard and puny.

Bento: came with mixed vegetables, rice, salad, soup, chicken teriyaki, 2 large spring rolls,

-i have been there atleast 10 times and their quality/quantity is also consistent

Nothing special!. Overall, I did enjoy my meal. But I think that was mainly due to the fact that I was in good company.
We sat at the Teppanyaki table and I was disappointed by the lack of personality of our chef. It was kind of boring actually. The prices are outrageous, and they charge you a fee of $5 to downgrade your fried rice from Salmon to chicken. Last time I checked Salmon was more expensive than chicken. Salmon is the standard flavour offered with your Teppanyaki combo, It is done this way on purpose, since someone is more likely to change the Salmon than the chicken.
I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, there are better restaurants out there.

Price HIGHER in restaurant than on line!!. Today I called for take-out during lunchtime. I was told when I went to pick up my order that it would be $23 rather then the $18 on your website (Maki Set B).
The manager (?) would not honour the price advertized on your website and chose to send me away for a cost of $5 to the restaurant. Even after I showed him the online price on my blackberry.

You won't catch me in there ever again!

One word ... Wowwwwww. This was more than a meal.. it was an experience. !

Great food/service/atmosphere.

It's alright. Have been here about 2 times. The sushi is fresh and very good. The teppanyaki experience could have been a lot better. The menu is over-priced for what you get. Other Teppanyaki restaurants around town offer the same for less money. The chef on one occassion was not too expressive as the teppanyaki chefs usually are.
All in all, you should try to see if you like it.

Great place for all occasions. I have been to many sushi places and so far this is one of my favourites. I have been to Yang's countless number of times. The sushi is super fresh, and I am very picky with fresh fish. Their sushi chef'sdefinitely know what they are doing. The service is amazing, the servers remember my name, even after not going there for over 6 months. Very friendly and modern atmosphere. Its a great place for dates, and entertainment if you want to see a live cooking show. The place is very clean, including the restrooms. I would definitely recomend this place!!! You will love it.

Overall it was a good experience. Sushi was excellent and service was very attentive. I was a bit disappointed in the experience at the chef's table. The quality could have been a bit better (chicken and shrimp were excellent, scallops and beef just ok). In the end it was a fun time, the chef was entertaining and I recommend it if you're looking for an option to the usual joints in the area.

Was there for lunch today. The food is mediocre to good. My experince with the service was terrible..awful... worst I've had in a restaurnat in a long time. Menu is way overpriced based on quality of food, ambiance and service. Did not have a good experience.

Good food. It can get pricey compare to AYCE sushi but nonetheless it's pretty good and fresh. Sometimes we go for the sushi or the Teppanyaki were the chef cook your food in front of you. Service has always been great here. I would recommend this place.

I was at Yang's tonight and I thought the experience would have been a lot better. Also the menu at the teppanyaki table was very limited and the value forbthe money was not there. I have been to other places where the experience was much better. Usually the cook is very friendly and tells jokes, this guy didn't say peep.

Enjoyable. I was recently at Yangs for dinner and it was a very enjoyable meal. I have had sushi at many different sushi restaurants and I was very happy with the quality and freshness. I reccomend the volcano rolls.

Good for some, bad for others. Walking into Yangs is a pleasant experience, the decor is stylish and the atmosphere is great. I came for sushi so we did not experience the cooking tables that looked great for a party. The menu lacked a lot of staples, for instance miso soup wasn't even listed. Oh and the green tea this is complimentary most places will cost you, but that is also not on the menu.
The sushi itself was quiet good, the quality was nice but it is definitly more pricey than a lot of places, for nothing incredible. The bad part, I was craving raw beef sashimi and so I went for it. It was the worst I've ever had. The pieces came in a bowl filled with ice, and pretty much only had the taste of freezer burn. The pieces were thick and marbled with fat. I had to take the pieces out and let them defrost a little on my plate while soaking it in the sauce to make it edible. The texture was grainy and did not melt in your mouth. It certainly ruined my meal, and then seeing that I was charged for my tea didn't help... If you do go here, expect good atmosphere and service, but expect to pay more for less, and avoid the beef sashimi!
