Review Shogi - Vaughan

We were very impressed with this Sushi restaurant. Outside doesn't say much but inside it was very well decorated. The service was outstanding, I give them an A+. The food was very good, nice presentation and the preparation was very fast, I give them an A. 99% recommended. The 1% remaining is that I would love to see more options on desert. Good value with what we paid, overall not expensive $$.

The food was really great here! Everything tasted so fresh. They use high quality ingredients. And the restaurant was very clean inside. The beef teriyaki was incredibly tender and cooked perfectly. The sushi rolls were amazing

Went in for "lunch" on a Saturday at 2 pm and they said Saturday is dinner all day? And that's its $31.99 all day. Weird and would've left at that but I had 2 more friends coming so we stayed. There was one other table about to leave while we were there and the staff hovered the ENTIRE time. You know whene servers ask hos the food is 2 seconds after you get it? They interrupted our conversations a solid 15 times in about 2 hours. 5 minutes before they offered dessert, they tell us there's a 1h20 seating limit? Even though there were no other customers, so that was odd. If they had a regular lunch price and time on weekends I would return. Also, parking was terrible. The food was ok. Salad portions were tiny.

My favourite sushi place for the last 7 years!! I have gotten to know the owner Shirley over several years and she is so kind and hardworking and always goes above and beyond for her customers. The food is very reasonably priced-- especially lunch during the week-- and I have never had any issues with quality!

This is the smallest sashimi I've ever had and I don't know why they give leftovers to customers. This is definitely not the normal size for customers who like sashimi. If you CANNOT afford it, don't say you are all you can eat.

Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere and of course the primary reason someone should come is here is for the delicious sushi. Weekdays are are cheaper and the menu has a a LOT of delicious things to choose from. Probably my fabo sushi place and I definitely see myself coming here.

I picked up lunch at this restaurant, after a swim. What you see is average fare; moderately priced, and sushi served warm from the just fried morsels of fried sweet potato tempura and avocado in one roll and shrimp tempura, avocado and eel on the next roll. When they ask you if you would like eel sauce for example, you should choose it. Be prepared to add in the notes section that you would like utensils, or soya sauce, wasabi and tempura sauce. This is an AYCE restaurant that screens patrons for temperature and observes COVID -19 protocol. I was considering the AYCE, but I am very old fashioned and I like my rolls looking extremely well defined by even cuts, or creative chef skills. I also like to feel fish that is cool on the tip of my tongue after it’s dipped in soya sauce. Since, my entire meal was warm from the miso soup to the sweet potato and avocado- I realized, this is a busy restaurant. (Take-out) The avocado could not be any more ripe! Some of the details like the lingering taste of dried frozen shrimp, or the smell of old cooking oil at the door might turn some discerning patrons away. I will have to try another maki roll in the future- to imagine catching some chilled fish after a cold swim. (3.7 points/ 5) The experience of your sushi chef sitting yards away is just not possible in post-quarantine or take-out/ curb side. This experience is something that adds to the quality of your dining experience; I am convinced that curb side just does not compare. While you will be content with the mediocrity of your meal; you might consider paying just a bit more, elsewhere. While I am just not dining in- right now, I am looking for meals that survive the trip home, in containers.

I would say negative stars! but it will not post unless a star is picked. I had lunch with my son at about 2:50pm to realize lunch ends at 2:30pm and prices jump up for dinner at 2:31 pm sharp. than the menu given prices are priced one price, but computer is priced at a higher price after waitress places in the orders. The table servers don't tell you prices will increase. another thing if your eating in the restaurant they will mop the floor with strong bleach odor making you dizzy and sickish to the stomach. after lunch/DINNER waiter could not explain why I had to pay $62.45 for something that should have been about $36 bucks. It's a rip off and they had no answer other then sorry and it was already charged to my card!! Very Unsatisfied I know I am only one person and they may not care that I never return. I just had to let this out as it was very wrong! Money is not the issue it was the fact that they would not honor the price of the menu and could not even consider any discount.... signed one unhappy ex-customer who eat less than mediocre food.
