Review Happyday Restaurant - Vancouver

Authentic Cantonese dishes. Portion sizes are good but the prices seem high to me. Cash or debit only, no credit cards. The prices on their takeout menu are 50 cents higher on each dish because they charge 50 cents for takeout containers plus another 15 cents for the paper bag. But they also give you 10% off if you pick up your takeout order. Free parking in the back but only in stalls 25 to 30 and they are often all taken during busy times.

Hmm I’m mixed reviews on this one. If we are primarily talking about just food this place has some good tasting Chinese food. We had the spaghetti beef, honey garlic spare ribs and their happy cafe fried chicken. Our order came with a free soup as well. Food was overall good. The service however isn’t the greatest. Be ready for no eye contact from the servers. Get ready to have your ear drums popped by the constant throwing and clanking of the dishes by them as they are turning over dirty tables.

Lots of inexpensive street parking, but free street parking is about 30 metres away. Seatings are comfortable and spacious. Staff is polite and patience. Even though my sons used their no so fluent Cantonese to order, the server waited for them patiently and not giving them the long face. Place looks clean. Most orders are good portion. But prices of some items are slightly on the high side, or the preparation is not as good. Eg. HK style pineapple bun is pricy and the bun is too fluffy.

I had a happy day after dining here! I've come here so many times for HK breakfast, but this was my first time for dinner. Dine here if you're looking for inexpensive Chinese food with big portions. Their lobster combo is really good value. We ordered 2 live lobsters + 3 dinner dishes for $155.88. It also comes with a large bowl of soup to start and green bean dessert soup to finish. There's a large menu of dinner dishes to choose from and we chose: pan fried shredded beef w/XO sauce, oyster omelette, and deep fried squid w/spicy salt. We weren't sure if that was enough food so we added sweet and sour pork. The dishes here are HUGE!! We had a lot of leftovers. We loved every dish except for the deep fried squid with spicy salt. The pieces were cut way too big and the batter was too thick.

We like the food we ordered. Fried squit was a little salty but everything else was great. Fried dumplings delicious and the fried rice is our daughter favorite.

A great place for the brunch. The price is affordable and the pineapple bun is a must try! ( pictures are from my two times of dining)

This is a local favourite. I’ve been coming here for years. Consistent quality, value and fast friendly service. Very nice bright atmosphere too. It’s a great place for all the traditional asian comfort foods like noodles and congee. Had the preserved egg and slice pork congee. It was sliced roast pork. Other variations are sliced pan fried or cooked with the congee which tends to be softer. Both are nice but my favourite is plain sliced pork which is often more fresh. The pan fried rice noodles with beef brisket is a nice twist to this popular dish. Very nicely done. I recommend this one. Drop me a comment or a like if you found this helpful.

Happy Day Cafe on Kingsway is an easy 5-star rating. Yesterday, our family had one of the tastiest experiences there. We ordered 5 dishes: salted fish and chicken fried rice, beef chow fun, duck and parsley braised vermicelli, and sweet and sour pork. Each of the dishes came with our choice of soup or drink so we opted for a couple of hot almond milks, a hot milk tea, and a cold lemon water. Everything was tasty and they had great “wok hay” especially the fried rice! The portions were decent and we even had leftovers to take home😋 It’s a busy place and service is prompt. We definitely recommend!

Enjoyable HK styled cha chan teng fare. Food is delicious and reasonably priced.

Ordered the lobster dinner combo for take out. It was yummy. The salt and peppery squid was so tender and fresh. The halibut was liked by the parents so that was a very good sign. I would definitely order it again. The only issue Is the online website. It doesn’t allow you to choose a pick up time. Quite frustrating. They should really update the system! The next day we ordered their online breakfast combo. Egg, sausage, half a French toast, and Satay beef noodles. The dinner the night before was tastier.
