Peninsula Seafood Restaurant is a high end Chinese restaurant at Oakridge District.

Highly recommend to make reservation for avoiding an hour wait.

We tried two of their featured dishes (House Special Peninsula Buns + Pan Fried Taro and Radish Cake). Not bad but not the best!

My family came here for mother's day dimsum, the usual Asian tradition. Dimsum for everything.

It was our first time trying this place and my first impressions were that it's clean and highly priced. I was not sure what I was paying extra for. There wasn't a wait surprisingly at 1pm and service was a lot better than most Chinese restaurants.

Of course the dishes came out and I have to say it was worth the extra money. As you can see in the photos their presentation was on point. I also got too excited to eat so forgot to take better photos of the dimsum dishes:x The food were well made and high quality ingredients were used.

I really want to come back to try their 'house peninsula buns' they were so big and fluffy but I didn't get a chance to order them!

Came here right when it opened. Apparently, it would be better if we had reservation. In any case, we got seated right away since the place is not full. The prices are very high for dim sum and especially the dishes. However, the food were well prepared and presented, and very tasteful.

Dim sum was perhaps the best in Vancouver but you pay a premium. The quality of the dishes was excellent, but it's hard to justify the additional cost of many of the items over going to a Kirin or Red Star.

SO delicious! a 10 out of 10 star experience all in all! beautifully made dishes, good portions and value, with exceptional service and quality of food! The large screen TV is a little out of place, but other than that this is a great place!

Well-organized restaurant. I went to Peninsula restaurant in the Chinese New Year Eve for dinner with my family. We made reservations at 7 but we were told to go at 7:30 as there were no more room. We thought we might need to wait even at 7:30 as that was the super busy day in the whole year. But we could get the table right the way when we arrived there. As we didn't pre-order anything, we didn't expect we could get the first dish within 5 minutes even though the restaurant were fully booked! Our food kept coming and we could finish our dinner in one and half hour. The food and service were good. The waiters kept coming to our table to change plate, refill tea and ask if there were missing orders. We found that most of customers coming for the second round of the table did not need to wait more than 5 minutes and some of them even didn't need to wait to get the table. The management of the restaurant is very skillful as most of the restaurant are so unorganized in this busy season. I will highly recommend this restaurant to my friends.

Top Notch Food, Top Notch Service, Top Notch Price. We went there for dinner at 6 PM on a Monday night. Read a bunch of reviews before going but most of them were for dim sum. Lot’s of Chinese restaurant have a different chef for the dim sum, so it is not an accurate representation of the food. Also there wasn’t a crazy line up so I didn’t experience some of the un-pleasantries written about in other reviews.

Actually I was dreading a little bit of the poor service, but I was totally surprised. We got seated right away. Everyone was very polite. No attitude. No snobbiness and very responsive. The food came very quickly. The waiters came by to pick up the dirty dishes efficiently but unobtrusively. In some restaurants, the waiters pretend to not see you so they don’t have to work. But here, a quick glance was all I need for my water to be refilled and for the cashier to bring over the credit card machine. Very good service.

Now for the food. There were only two of us, and ordering 3 dishes was plenty.

The shredded tender beef with assorted spicy peppers. $19.80. The beef came in more like chunks and the peppers were not spicy, but it was very tasty. Most of the beef were very tender except for a few chewy pieces, but it tasted so good, I am willing to let that slide.

Fried Scallops with truffle sauce and mushrooms. $26.80. $26 bucks for a scallop dish is not cheap, but the scallops were humungous. And once again it tasted quite good.

Braised sea cucumber with seafood. $36.80. Again very tasty. The sea cucumber, shrimp and scallops were first class. I feel there could have been a little more sea cucumber, but they were probably the best tasting sea cucumber I have had in Vancouver. Hui Fu House has a mix seafood hot pot which is a couple of bucks more which is very similar but you get abalone as well; however, I would say the one at Peninsula tasted a little better.

Overall Peninsula’s food is top notch, but so is the price. But I feel it is worth it. The ingredients are of higher quality and very well prepared. The service was top notch as well. I will go back again.

Awesome dim sum!!. My dad suggested this place which I thought it may be just another fine dining resto. The food was great and our family love their har gow. You can see some of the creative dishes on their menus too. Reservation is a must if you want to make sure you get the table during busy lunch hours. I think they should have a bigger restaurant.

Real Chinese Cuisine. My friends took me to several Chinese restaurants for dim sum and dinner to welcome me joining as Vancouverite :) I am quite surprised about the good quality of the local Chinese restaurants. One of the places we went to is Peninsula. Peninsula is where I feel the most memorable for the Chinese dining experience so far. Good services and nice environment. Like their black truffle chicken dish and fried squab the most. They are done amazingly. Not to be missed!

Came in here tonight for dinner, and saw a line of 5 lamborghini parked right in front of the resteraunt. In my mind it came in the bad feedbacks of this restersunt of only giving "VIP"s its good service but still went in to give it a try. I was thinking maybe all the servers will be wandering around the VIPs and ignore normal walk-ins of few people like us, however the service was surprisingly excellent, the server was nice and served us just like a VIP. The food was a bit on the pricey side but tastes great, and the ambience of the resteraunt was great, not like other chinese resteraunts with everyone rushing around. The manager came and asked how was everything at the end of the dinner which made is feel good not like other resteraunts managers just ignores us sincewe are normal "walk-ins". Definetly will be coming back again. Cheers.

Waiting too long for the table. It was our mistake that we came 20min late for our reservation at 11:30am, so we waited to be seated. The reception lady told us it will take around 10min. However we didn't get our seat until 1:30pm. Because we went with friends, we couldn't leave, we waited for 1.5hours! But the food was pretty good.

Not your average dim sum. My first visit to this restaurant. The decor is very nice and the seating in the eating area is not packed full with no space to move, something I really liked. Upon being seated, our waiter poured tea for my family and asked my younger brother if he would prefer ice water. The tea was nice and hot, something that is little but i find a lot of Chinese restaurants do not have water that is hot enough. On the table were 2 packs of packaged tissue, something i haven't seen here in Vancouver... The plates, bowls, cups and chopsticks were all nice and clean. We took our time to order and our waiter answered some questions we had as well as some modifications. With his suggestion we ordered the house special foie gras buns. They had a nice crust on top and the bun was fluffy. The filling however did not taste like foie gras. There wasn't much texture either.. It just felt mushy. The shrimp dumplings came surprisingly in 6, with broccoli as a garnish. The shrimp were crunchy and the dumpling skin was not over steamed and didn't fall apart. Next we had spring rolls. They came in 3 and were very crunchy but not drenched in oil. The braised pork feet? I don't remember the name exactly was stewed enough until it was soft and flavorful. The fried fish were too spicy (for myself) and I would have preferred them to be a little more crunchier. The durian mochi was my favorite! Not many restaurants make this dish and here they made them in bite sized portions with a nice cold durian filling. The garnish was whipped cream and some dragon fruit which I dipped the mochi into. The steamed beef tendon were very soft and packed with flavor. I absolutely hate ordering this dish and getting rock hard tendon, good thing they made it well here! We sat and chatted after we finished and there was no rush from the employees to have us leave. The items here are on the pricier side and there are no discounts given. But the environment was enjoyable as well as the service. I would like to come back and try their dinner sevice!

Differences between Canda and China. This restaurant is managed by staff from the Top Gun group however they do not own any part of the business. The atmosphere of this restaurant is very similar to those in China such as the boxed tissues, VIP rooms that require a minimum spending to be used and lavish renovations. What I do like is that this restaurant actually has China that isn't the typical heavy, thick white bowls and cups you find in most places in Vancouver. Their dim sum is on the pricey side but some of their dishes were pretty good. I really like the radish and taro cakes that were half and half of each merged together. It was almost all taro in the taro half. I didnt taste any foie gras in the famous foie gras buns.. But they were pretty fluffy. The spring rolls were not wrapped in usual spring roll paper but something web looking which was crunchier and less oily. The crab mango roll had thick slices of mango and the crab wasn't masked by mayo. Overall the experience was good. The waiters would pour our tea for us, it was nice but i am not used to it. The tea was nice and hot and once empty they would fill it up quickly. Good place to eat at if you plan on shopping!
