Review The Edge Cafe - Vancouver

Jessica Leung
We used the Edge Catering for our Wedding and I cannot believe the service we received. I think the most important advice to give future couples is the importance of communication with your vendors. It gives you the impression that you are important and puts you at ease to know that all the request/details are taken care of. Of all the vendors that we dealt with Judy and her team left us with an impression of what professional caterers should be. Judy always answered my questions in a timely manner, she is very organized and is very knowledgeable. The food is not only visually appealing but the quality comes from people who care. I have so much respect for Judy and Edge Catering not just for the memorable wedding they gave me but the professionals they truly are. I would highly recommend Edge Cafe and Edge Catering. I have also used Edge for corporate lunches and the spread they provide is fantastic!

I found the food at the Edge Cafe an excellent local choice for my lunch time needs. The staff and service was on par with the quality food. If I had upcoming office catering needs I would also consider ordering several items from their menu. Level of food quality was higher than other local options. Has more than enough options for anyone looking to have a nice lunch and are tired of the pizza joints and basic sandwich shops.

I'm always surprised at how people haven't really found this place yet. The all day breakfast and daily and weekend specials are great. The salads and oatmeal are on the large size and the coffee is endless. They can also accommodate gluten free, Paleo and primal eating for those of us that are choosier. I have had nearly everything the menu and keep coming back for more.

Fast and friendly service from the time we entered! We sat on the patio for a late brunch. I got the Aloha benny (pineapple) and my wife had the Westcoast hash. The portions were huge and full of flavor. We found this place on a Google search, and we must admit, this place is awesome! We will tell our friends, and hopefully be back soon! We recommend to try this place.

My fiancé and I stopped by for brunch and got the homemade perogies and chorizo, and veggie scramble. Both were absolutely delicious! The service was attentive and courteous, we felt very welcomed. The cafe was spacious and comfortable, a perfect place for brunch!

I used to work around the corner from here and would get my breakfast here. I don't work around the corner anymore but I still stop in for breakfast on the weekends. Staff is always happy and courteous, food is always hot and tasty, and their coffee is one of my favourites in the Vancouver area.

This place is my favorite little coffee shop / restaurant. Really easy going, great setup inside, just off of Broadway and Cambie, so it's really easy to get to but off the beaten path, plus their food and their coffee is great! You gotta try their sandwiches for lunch, you won't be disappointed.

My boyfriend and I just love coming to Edge for their breakfasts. My fav are the bennies! He likes the hash. Every time we’ve gone in, food was superb and tasty! Highly recommend!!!

A good place to get a good soup, sandwich or salad for lunch. The best part of all...all day breakfast! Eggs however you prefer and pancakes. Bottomless coffee also.

A cozy brunch spot that isn't likely to have a line! Long time staff makes the place feel like home. Great food and coffee too!

Great options. I tend to go for an espresso (they serve 49th parallel) along with a San Pellegrino, together with a tasty treat.

I am a regular here. The place is clean, the staff are friendly, and it is priced decently. It isn't perfect but what place is? Come and give it a try!

Great food, times and atmosphere. A bit pricey for the quantity and value but overall the food tastes great :)

New, simplified menu.. but i find it a bit overly simplified. Service is on the slow sidd so don't go here if time is of the essence.

This was my second and last time eating at The Edge Cafe. I've never written a negative review in the past, but I feel the need to make an exception today.

I had brunch here a few months ago and had a decent experience, so I recommended it again today when my husband and brother-in-law were deciding on brunch options in the area. We arrived at 10:40am and did not have to wait for a table, which was nice.

My first impression of our server was that she was "all business" - not chatty or overly friendly, but pleasant enough. We ordered and waited for 45 minutes and noticed that others around us were getting their food even though they were seated well after us. I inquired with our server, who came back with an air of indifference and said "Your order didn't go through the first time, but the kitchen is putting a rush on it. But you'll get 20% your order". It was almost as if she felt justified in not apologizing to us due to the fact that we'd get a discount on our meal. The discount is always a nice gesture, but what I appreciate even more than that is seeing that there's effort being made on the server's part to make sure that we continue to have a positive experience despite the mix-up with our order. Unfortunately, that did not happen. We had a view of the kitchen (we were sitting at the booths in front of the windows) and watched as 4 more orders came out for other tables.

I finally walked up to our server as she was walking back towards the kitchen, and when she saw me, she quite literally brushed past me as I let her know that we wouldn't be able to wait much longer as we had an appointment to get to. As she whizzed past me, not making eye contact, she said "it'll be out soon". That was when I realized that the rest of our dining experience would likely not be a pleasant one, if our server's attitude was any indication. Finally, more than an hour after we ordered, our food came. Not to our surprise, our server briskly delivered each plate and utensils. She did not apologize for the wait, or come back to check on our meal. I don't expect this in most cases, but with what we experienced, I thought a quick "sorry about the wait guys" would have been nice.

Did I mention that the couple sitting next to us ordered and received their meals within 10 minutes?

With regards to the menu, they have a nice selection of brunch options for vegetarians/pescatarians, although a little pricy. I ordered the smoked salmon benny, which came with potatos, but no fruit, but was missing the slice of fruit that seems to come with all benny's. I didn't bother bringing it up at this point. They have great coffee. Overall, food is pretty decent, but I'm so turned off from our experience here today that I will not be coming back to The Edge Cafe.

The selection was not that big, but they were more of a catering business, so I completely understand. I had the sandwich and fries and it was really good. I had also ordered a glass of grapefruit juice, which was not on the menu, but it turned out to be $3.75 for a very small glass. For a small cafe, the food was very fresh, didn't seem like the sandwich was there for a long period of time, but I thought it was a bit pricey. Overall the food was good. I would go back once in awhile.

They push the 'omega 3' eggs too much, and it's nothing to be proud of. If they said free range/local farm eggs that'd be different.

Had a great brunch with a friend today. Smoked salmon scramble was absolutely delicious! Loved the coffee as well :D

Friendly, delicious brunch cafe. Best chai latte in Vancouver, if you like it sweet and not overwhelmingly spicy. The breakfast biscuits are excellent (the biscuit itself is surprisingly well-made, it would be nice to see that offered as a side substitute for toast), and they offer a wide variety of delicious panini. Considering the abundance of panini presses in Vancouver, it is surprising that few have learned to use it as well as The Edge. For those looking for a magnificent breakfast adventure, I reccommend the French toast.

The Edge is good for sit-down or take-out, for coffee (49th Parallel) or breakfast/brunch/lunch food. The staff is friendly and will be happy to reccomend the best menu choices if you are unsure. As far as I'm concerned there are only two places for brunch in Mount Pleasant--Marulilu and The Edge Cafe.

Delicious food coupled with excellent service and an altogether friendly atmosphere made our weekend brunch very memorable. Thank you to the wonderful waitress that brought our toddler a cup of fruit to soothe his mood. It put a smile on his face and certainly eased the ears of the rest of the patrons!

Not bad....not bad.. Hmmm, I have found the meals I've eaten here to be okay. Nothing terrible of note, also not really great or anything. Their 'Paninos' aren't that good (tasted bland to me). Service is disorganized but generally pleasant. Espresso drinks are prepared below Vancouver average mostly. I appreciate the kept up and clean bathroom.

The food is so yummy and fresh! Everything is made in house from their soups to cookies. The staff is very friendly too. They also do catering !

Tasty brunch!. So excited! My first review!! I had brunch here today and had some of the tastiest French toast ever, the place has a nice warm feeling, the servers were friendly, but service was a little slow.. It felt confused a bit, because they have an order counter, but they also kinda give table service. I had to get up to order my first drink but received table service after that. I really enjoyed everything aside from that and will definitely go back.

Nice atmosphere, spacious, bright, friendly service. Free wifi was a bonus. The food was fresh, average portion sizes, interesting menu and good selection.

My fav new brunch spot. After wanting to try this place for awhile, I finally got to try the Edge Cafe. It was a great little place with warm ambiance. Food was great and service friendly.

I would definitely go there again for brunch / coffee.

Great place. Always a treat to go and have a great healthy lunch at a non chain...staff was very friendly. They have the day's province and van sun as well as some magazines..I could relax and go or stay at my own pace at lunch before back to the office...would highly recomend

Great Sunday Brunch after Church. My wife's niece and her fiancé introduced us to The Edge Cafe located just blocks north of Vancouver City Hall, on Yukon Street at Broadway. This gem of an upscale cafe bistro is a great place for Sunday brunch, like after attending Tenth Avenue Church 5 minutes away. While there are lots of $2/hr parking meters by the cafe and on Broadway, there is FREE parking on 8th Avenue just 2+ blocks east of Yukon Street. And there is FREE WiFi while you enjoy a coffee, snack or meal. As for the food itself, it is freshly made, delicious, nicely presented, good portions and priced right. The staff are friendly and efficient. And in our case, we received a complimentary fresh fruit bowl to nibble as my wife and I waited for her niece and fiancé to arrive. Be sure to check out the daily specials as they are worth choosing. My wife had the Rustic Italian Omlette while I had The Mexican Hash for $11 each. We will be visiting The Edge Cafe often and recommending it to others...

It has gotten better since...but. It has gotten better since the placed opened in 2008. The price is reasonable and the portion is adequate. Since it's a self serve cafe, sometimes there are no seats during the lunch rush. They have a good variety of selection from the board menu. But the taste is just average. Overall experience: Thumb's down.

I saw a neighboring table order the BBQ chicken quesadilla and it looked so tasty that I ordered it too. It was slow roasted BBQ chicken, red onion, tomato, bell pepper and melted cheese in a grilled tortilla with sour cream and salsa

.....just the slightest bit watery, but really good, chicken tender and rice a perfect combo
Sarah Loving Food
I was hankering for brunch food and didn't have a place in mind so I just picked a random place from my entertainment book: The Edge Cafe. You know, I only had my first benny ever 2 years ago? And I didn't like it very much. I thought it was much too heavy to eat early in the day. But now, 2 years later, I can't get enough of them.. This is their pulled pork benny. Pulled pork seems to getting very popular and I see it a lot more in dishes. I didn't see this on their website menu so it must have been an item on their "fresh sheet" for the day. I loved this dish. Pulled pork was tender as it should be, and the sauce was tangy and went well with the hollandaise sauce and egg. The potatoes weren't very good though, being dry and cold. Oh, and you can see that the english muffins for the benny are actually whole wheat! I usually wouldn't like that (if you're going to eat unhealthy, do it right), but with the richness of the pulled pork, you can't even tell. J ordered another item from thei

It was totally worth it. It was a cute cafe and it was packed so we were asked if we wanted to wait for a table to free up or if it would be ok to sit at a bar table (? is that what they are called? looking out the window?).
There Is Always Room
The service was really friendly and quite fast. The butter chicken that the woman next to me had looked amazing as well. Worth the trip across the bridge- it will be a great choice in bike weather.

I had the pleasure of meeting with Julie Wright, Gus and Russ for brunch at The Edge Cafe this past weekend. I had previously reviewed The Edge Cafe on Ianiv and Arieanna’s Vancouver Coffee.
