Clearly, as the name suggests, Sushi King is the place to go for different kinds of sushi and sashimi. However, not being a fan of those, when I went there with a friend, we stuck to plain old chicken yakisoba (fried noodles) and chicken ramen, with mango mochi ice cream to finish. My first impression was that it's a bare bones takeout joint, seats maybe 12 people at most, and plastered with pictures of different kinds of sushi/sashimi. As we sat down, we were greeted with cups of green tea.

We had gone around lunch, and by 2.30 PM, all of its were full. There was only one guy serving, and one guy in the kitchen, but service was quite prompt, and they usually stayed behind the counter, so the tiny place didn't feel overcrowded.

Coming to the food: I really liked the yakisoba and ramen. The ramen broth was a tad too salty at first, and there seemed to be little other flavor, but portions were huge, and I generally really like ramen so it wasn't too bad. I would say I enjoyed the yakisoba more, with its deliciously fried cabbage, onion, carrot and chicken bits. The mochi ice cream ($3.75) though was the best: balls of a mango ice cream covered with a tangy, stretchy mango layer. The whole meal came to around $21. We're definitely going to return for more of that yakisoba and mango ice cream!

Pro Tip #1: They don't accept credit cards; debit and cash only!Pro Tip #2: Definitely try their mango mochi ice cream.Pro Tip #3: On their menu they said an advance notice of 24 hours gets you 10% off, and 2 hours = 5% off. Useful if you're planning to order their sushi party platters for your next event.

I went to Samurai Sushi and bought a California Roll for takeout, then went to Sushi King House and bought a California Roll for takeout. Biggest rolls in town it says, I don't think they are bigger than Samurai Sushi. I'm about to find out.

Sushi King House roll was a bit smaller and at $.50 cents more. Overall the roll was better than Samurai Sushi, as Samurai Sushi roll had a sour taste to the rice.

I like the Yam Roll, lots of yam and made to order, none of this cold yam crap.

All in all, good value for sushi. Need to ask for extra chopsticks and soy sauce and have to ask for napkins because they don't give you any.

Really big sushi rolls and great value for your money. Really good for takeout because they are very quick, and accurate with their orders. My go to sushi place when I'm craving a roll or three.

Good portions, cheap prices. I usually get sashimi and rolls. unless you have a big mouth and are prepared to look undignified I don't recommend their big rolls (dynamite, alaska, etc). even their chopped scallop or california rolls are big. I don't recommend the tuna as it's frozen (as all tuna is within vancouver) unless you're paying $5 per piece of small nigiri... I always get take out as there's only 4 tables in there. at least you can help yourself to tea. it's cash only

The KING OF SUSHI. I have been to every sushi place in the Vancouver area. This is the only place that I think about when craving sushi. The best tasting Dynamite rolls, Yam Tempura rolls, and California rolls in BC!! And I didn't mention the size to price ratio which is unbeaten and unheard of. Do not order more than 2 rolls if you are not hungry. TRUST ME. All in all, sushi king is the hole in the wall that everyone tries to keep a secret in order to make sure to get a seat when they go.

HUGE portions. In this case it's all about quantity and a bit about quality. It's like Samurai sushi, quite the bang for your buck. Huge rolls, delicious. Great for parties.

Definitely a take out joint.

I often eat here and get take out. It's great value as one California roll can fill you up. All the rolls are huge and the house roll is gigantic. I would definitely recommend this place. Also if u order 2 hrs ahead or a day ahead, u get a discount

The are several places in.... The are several sushi places in the Vancouver area that specialize in extra large rolls. This is one of them. Come here not for exquisite tasting sushi but for copious amounts of decent food at great prices. With seating for only about 16 and a questionable restroom, take-out might be the better option, despite the outstanding service.
