This is my go-to study spot! It's quiet and the staff is very nice. There's a great selection of drinks and food to choose from. I love their matcha green tea latte. In terms of brain food, I've tried the deep fried Taiwanese chicken, tofu, pastries, and loaves. So far, I've enjoyed them all. I wish there were more outlets because there's only one in the corner. Other than that, I find myself going out of my way to come back here!

I have a soft spot for Taiwanese comfort food, and 3 Quarters Full provides just that. Roman and I attended the Media Tasting for the cafe’s updated menu. The spread of cakes, sandwiches and teas definitely ramped up our appetites and the first item that drew my attention was the pyramid of Pineapple Cakes. These rectangular-shaped pastries are filled with a pineapple filling that is thick and jam-like. The exterior is buttery like shortbread. The Pineapple Cake at 3 Quarters Full was so good, I couldn’t eat just one!

I was invited to the media event for “3 Quarters Full”, a newer Taiwanese cafe, downtown. An event organized and ran by the three ladies behind “@foodcouver”, as the plus one to “@porkninjas”. This cafe has existed for a while now, but due to its locale, I assume that many like myself, have never heard of them. This is mainly because we cannot seen them. They are downtown Vancouver, kiddy corner from Denman. Not being right on the busy street means that they lose out on much of their potential walk-in traffic; those who notice a newer business and decide to walk on in to give them a try.

One-liner: Upscale-ish, novel Taiwanese cafe that will be more enjoyable during the day versus the night
Highlight: Pork Belly Bao
Price per person: $5-10
Would I go back? Yes.

3 Quarters Full is a new Taiwanese Café in the West End neighbourhood at 1789 Comox Street. It is located at Denman Place mall and walking distance to English Bay. The space is minimalistic with reclaimed wood focused furniture, industrial fixtures and white aesthetics. Open kitchen concept where customers can watch the pastry chefs at work. I love the bar seats by the window!

After seeing so many Instagram photos of this quaint little cafe tucked away in the Downtown West End, I finally dragged myself here to check out what all the fuss was about!. What I ate: Small Cheesecake ($4.50). Very light and fluffy! Perfect for me! This cheesecake is definitely for you if you like your cheesecakes with a light cheese taste. If you are a fan of New York Style, this will not satisfy your craving.

One of the things I knew I had to try when I visited was this Naidong Roll ($4.50). They have two flavours: Vanilla with strawberry and cream, and Matcha with red bean and cream. From what I’ve heard, Naidong rolls are a traditional Taiwanese dessert and it’s unlike a regular Swiss Roll. The difference is the cream inside. Naidong rolls have a block of custard-like filling that is more gelatinous and tastes like pudding.

A Taiwanese cafe on Denman Street. Serving Gua Bao and Taiwanese breakfast sandwiches and desserts. There Baos are unique and also very tasty. I would suggest an order of pop-corn chicken if you are just there for a light snack.

This West End Café opened recently serving coffee, homemade cakes, and savoury Taiwanese food. My girlfriend and I got the matcha latté, drip coffee, cheesecake, and the matcha naidong roll cake

Everything was delicious. Ambience and service were excellent.

I would definitely come back again.

As a West End resident, I was excited to hear about a new Taiwanese Cafe opening on Denman.  Around this neighbourhood, there aren’t many places serving Taiwanese style eats except Bubble World down on Robson.  Meet the newly opened 3 Quarters Full serving Taiwanese baos at 1789 Comox Street inside Denman Place.  I popped in during their soft opening earlier this month to check them out but waited until today to try their offerings.

3 Quarters Full had a soft opening within the week, occupying a unit on Comox St at Denman Place Mall. This sizable cafe has an abundance of seating and an inviting atmosphere I could easily spend hours in.

Upon entry I was immediately greeted by a friendly employee who explained their offerings and most popular fare. 3 Quarters Full specializes in Taiwanese cuisine—a welcome addition to the neighbourhood—that offers a range of baked goods (both sweet and savoury), classic street foods, soup, and cafe drinks. The selection appeared good and the staff offered recommendations. I initially opted to try the "gua bao", a steamed bun that comes filled with pork belly and crushed peanuts—delicious with nicely balanced flavours! As part of a special combo offering on the menu, I supplemented the bun with soup which features white radish and a Taiwanese meatball in pork broth. Very tasty and I almost wish it had another meatball.

The presentation was carefully considered, suggesting great care goes into crafting the food. The meal was satisfactory without being overtly filling—which seems appropriate for the cafe name. I'm eager to see how the menu develops with time, and I definitely intend to go back to try the basil popcorn chicken and some of the beverages. Certainly coming back for the bao as well.

It’s Saturday morning at the new and optimism-monikered 3 Quarters Full Café. An older gentleman with a cane slowly pushes open the door, glances around, calling out loudly to no-one in particular:

“Okay, you got me. I’m excited. So what’s good here?” Nearing three-digits in coffee shop reviews, you’d think not much surprises us now. But not today; because admittedly, we share this guy’s sentiments on the the newest coffee shop in the West End. Although they just soft-opened days ago, there’s lots of foot traffic, people curiously peeking in the window at Comox St., heading inside to see more.
