We just flew into Vancouver and decided to stretch our legs after 12 hours of travel. We were walking down Granville St when Mrs Canuck spotted a tamale sign.
We stopped so she could get some tamales before heading back to Oz where they are seldom seen. I ordered three soft shell chicken tacos.
Mrs Canuck says she's glad we stopped, they are full of flavour, and we don't get Mexican like this in Melbourne. I agree to all of that.
Red Burrito is a cheap, good quality, and good quantity. Definitely worth a stop.
Service: Workflow seemed perfect. Start on one end and complete the transaction at the end. Real simple. Bottom line: Their burrito bowl was pretty damn good. The chicken is carved from like a rotisserie the reminds me of Afghan places and it's spiced perfectly. I can't eat rice so I asked for double beans, black bean and refried black beans. In addition, I had pico, lettuce and added the guac for extra $1.25 or something like that. Overall it was a very filling bowl and I came here only because the line up at Chipotle was out the door.
Was here for a late night bite after class. Conveniently located just a few blocks off Robson. It was the only vegetarian, healthy and economical thing around at the time. The seating area is surprisingly big, I wouldn’t have thought just by looking in from the outside. The walls are decorated with popular Mexican movies from the past.
Had a good dinner here - their signature burrito. My wife said the tortilla soup was great, and the chips/salsa actually seemed like they were homemade! Nice touch!
We really liked it. Small place, ok atmosphere. But I would recommend if you want a quick lunch.
Decent enough. For the money you pay and how much food it is, I think this place is pretty decent. they have pork now, so I got two pork and one beef taco. the pork is significantly better than the beef. I left full. they double up on the tortillas which I could have done without, but in fairness they tacos fall apart without the second one. I ate mine with a fork, haha.
So so. Nothing to write home about, but it's good to see Canada finally getting taquerias. The meat had flavor, and the ingredients were fresh, but all in all, something was missing.
The combination of the brown rice and the whole wheat tortilla made it REALLY dense and quite heavy once it hit my gut…very filling. The chicken itself I really enjoyed. It was definitely well spiced…in a Chicken Shawarma kind of way. And then I realized, they cook it on the same rotating spit too lol. Also enjoyed how the beans weren’t just pure mush either! It’s packed with goodness. I also decided to try one of their Mexican beverages (2.50). This one is called “Horchata”. It’s got milk, rice, cinnamon, and vanilla. It was kind of like drinking a lig
