○good service
○very small place, call first if you want to sit down and eat
○clean
○some unique items on the menu (I enjoyed the Japanese iced coffee and they can improve on the salmon oshi)
○pricey - foods were ok, waffles are also ok, nothing memorable
○would I go back? Probably not.......
I don't think Hikari get the attention it deserves. Beautiful interior decor, they are small but makes up for it in their service.
I've only had sushi and dessert from here but their sushi does not disappoint. Don't expect too much from their waffles and parfait.
Bright and cheery decor, parking is available on the side streets.
Always friendly service and tasty dishes. I always get the omurice. Haven't tried the dessert but will get to that one day
The decor is just way too pretty the purple is so nice and neat. Although the washroom is small, one person use but overall this place is trendy and I love it! The food is amazing and authentic Japanese chef. It's now one of my fav Japanese restaurant in Vancouver !
Very Impressed on First Visit!. Authentic Japanese run restaurant with very chic decor, which set for a cool ambiance. The restaurant is very clean and the servers were very attentive and polite.
I tried both the omelette rice as well as the curry beef - the egg on the omelette rice was cooked just right (some places overcook the egg) and the tomato rice inside was flavourful. The salad on the side was a nice touch as well.
The curry beef had a very authentic taste - beef was tender and the sauce was very flavourful. Both portions were fairly large and of good value. Overall, I was very satisfied with both dishes I ordered.
As a first timer, I thoroughly enjoyed with my dining experience at Hikari Cafe. From the other reviews, it seems that they have some very fresh sushi; will definitely try that next time.
Happy @ 6th visit. This is the 6th visit to the restaurant. I took my friends from HK and Seattle there in early April, we arrived a bit late for dinner and ordered the salad, rice and sashimi. We enjoyed the meal without any rush, thanks a lot !! Then another 2 visits with family in April , my girl loves the setting there, tables are at both end of the working counter, you won't be disturbed by others too much if they are on the phone, talking loud to each other. We are trying the rice bowl and udon, you won't be disappointed !!! I think the Japanese chef is putting his heart in the food.
Omelet Rice was good but some of the prices could be on the steeper side. I want to try some of the other desserts and curry.
Great food, excellent service! Authentic Japanese crusine, best Omurice in town and great Chirashi sushi! Will definitely try again.
Waffles Dessert. Beautiful decoration in fresh fruits and whip cream on a Belgian Liege Waffle. Super fresh Sashimi and really popular Japanese omurice !!
