The standard of food here might have lowered a bit in the years, or my tongue has become more picky, but this joint serves tasty food for a reasonable price. Service wasn’t all that great that day, food was brought promptly to our tables and that was that. I wouldn’t detour myself for a trip down here, but if I’m ever in the area, I would still come back for a nice hot bowl of Bún Bò Huế.
Really good pho!. Being Vietnamese myself, I can be really picky with pho that isn't home made. However, Pho Thai Hoa really impressed me. Aromatic, decent broth, and good quality meats. I will visit again!
The food is good but the service is inconceivably bad. Amazingly rude people. It's almost worth the trip just to be wowed by their amazingly terrible attitudes
Their subs are amazing!! I always order their Bun Bo Hue also. This place is deeeelish!
Good Food. I have many meals here and have not been disappointed by the food. It is consistently generous in portion, tasty, and authentic. Value is unsurpassed. I usually order the pho, lemongrass chicken with vermicelli, and salad/spring rolls. Downsides include the unpleasant airbrushed wall decor and the indifferent service. I live in Little Saigon and have eaten at about 5 other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. This one's the best in the neighbourhood for food. The only way you could do better is to make your own or Phnom Penh in Chinatown. This is a great choice for comfort food on a rainy, cold Vancouver night.
Great Ha Noi Style Pork on Vermicelli!. When you come here, be sure to order this dish! It is authentic to every taste like the capital city in North Vietnam. The veggies dish are rich and plentiful! The portion is huge so it is a very great sharing plate with someone. Also you must order their BOT CHIEN ! it is like deep fried flour balls with eggs and onions, super super yummy! After writing this review, I will pay a visit again tomorrow!!
Amazing soup, great noodle texture and consistency, and solid fruit shakes.
PHO PHEVER.. Went to pho thai hoa in both richmond and kingsway, both were delicious and consistent! i have never been disapointed there. the broth is so tasty doesnt need any sauces to add to flavour. The subs are all so fresh as well. been going there now for a few months and never had a bad experience.
Really nice presention. You get huge plates with beautiful garnishes and veggies. I always order the Banh Xeo - it's huge and has masses of salad and rau thom (fragrant herbs) to eat with it.
Yummy yummy pho ga. We often drop into Pho Thai Hoa for lunch if we have a big shop to do at Famous Foods. Their pho ga (chicken noodle soup) is fabulous, very authentic and yummy. Their spring rolls, which I suspect are really something only westerners eat, are like the ones you get in Vietnam ... they make me nostalgic for my travels there. We also sometimes order the Banh Xeo - an omelette stuffed with vegetables. It is delicious. All the servings are big - I never finish the small pho ga, and the Banh Xeo can be shared between two if you get one or two extra sides. Some fun drinks on the menu too, if you are adventurous.
PHO-nomenally Good!. Very GOOD Pho on Kingsway (which is hotbed for Viet-cuisine) Very tasty broth, fresh condiments & fast service. Had Pho & spring rolls and both were good.
Only glitch - I ordered a lrg & companion ordered sm, yet received exact same bowl size :-(
UPDATE - on a recent visit 12/12 we visited - both had pho and the meat was non-existent (almost like they forgot) felt ripped-off and will NOT be returning. With so many decent pho spots on KIngsway - this was UNacceptable
Great!. Our favorite pho place , so far, in North America. (Did have one better in Ha Noi!!). Virtually always good, except when they are super busy and appear understaffed - happened only once to us. My partner got her pho which was delicious as usual,,,... mine was delayed about 20 minutes and not nearly as good as hers (likely an emergency batch-given the place being so busy)
A decent lunch. We came here for a quick lunch today and the food was pretty good, but the service was lacking. We ordered combo 22 which included a number of different meats with some veggies and broken rice on the side. The grilled pork and meatballs were quite good in the combo. We also ordered one of their sandwiches, but we thought it wasn't as good as the other times we had ordered it. I usually prefer to have more of the pickled veggies stuffed inside of my sandwich and this one seemed a little sparse.
All in all, it was still a good lunch, but the quality wasn't as good as I remembered it to be.
This broth is what dreams are made of. With that added spicy tang, it still has that beefy pho taste I love without being boring. It’s got not one but two kinds of meat. What more could anyone ask for?
This day also marks my first brush with beef stew here. After some serious and thoughtful consideration and a great deal of noisy slurping, BoyToy had this to report about his meal: “It receives top marks with nicely stewed carrots and a velvety smooth texture.” (snort)
overall, the food here is pretty consistent.
A common complain about places like this is the cleanliness. In my case, the table given to me was a bit of a mess, i.e., there were several packs of chopsticks in the table in disarray and I think I saw a couple of pieces of shredded cabbage on a corner
Pho Thai Hoa is one of the best and most well known Vietnamese restaurants in Vancouver. It has a lot of competition along Kingsway – Vancouver’s version of little Saigon.
