The place is located in Dunbar area and the ambience is amazing.
We tried their vegetable samosa, malai kofta and aloo naan and the taste was certainly good. The quantity and portion size was sufficient for the three of us and we really enjoyed the authentic Indian flavour in the food. Totally recommended!
Close to UBC, Vancouver so you get home delivery in 30 mins ( areas close to UBC, good for UBC students)
Food: They serve awesome aloo paratha and butter chicken pizza (a bit spicy).
Well priced.
*May not be a place for trying Indian curry items
Love everything I have ever ordered from here - from the pure Indian fare to Pizzas. The best fusion pizzas and the butter chicken pizza is to die for. Eat it hot, cold or lukewarm, you won't be able to stop! The service is really good, the owner is warm and friendly.
Mostly great food and great people, however I would not recommend eating in as the place is tiny. The owner of this place is down to earth and very kind, and they make killer butter chicken. I am not a fan of most butter chicken dishes around the city but this stuff was great. Whenever I feel like Indian food I go to him, he works hard and deserves more business.
I have only had pizza from here, both delivered, as well as eating at the place. It's a pretty tiny hole in the wall restaurant, with barely space for 4 people to sit inside and another 2-3 chairs outside. But they do make a mean butter chicken pizza!
I like their other pizzas as well, but whenever we order from them, we get at least 3 butter chicken pizzas, since everyone is a big fan. It may seem like a strange combination, and I was quite apprehensive at first, but the thick creamy gravy goes perfectly with crispy pizza bread, cheese, and of course, big chunks of chicken.
If you live close by, it's better to have them deliver or get take out, because the place itself is nothing special.
Dunbar pizza is a weird little hole in the wall. They serve primarily pizza but also offer a huge selection of Indian dishes. I decided to try their Indian fare as I was in the area and alot of other places were closed for lunch or really busy. I got their chicken curry, an order of rice, and an order of naan bread. The food was actually really good, however their prices match some of the more expensive Indian restaurants in Vancouver. It was far from a bargain, but the man working there, who seemed like the owner, was really nice. Overall, I might get takeout or visit this place if I'm in the area, but its not worth a trip just to eat there. They also have delivery.
THANK YOU - LIFE SAVER!. So, I'm in town from Wpg solo with baby daughter in tow. She's finally asleep and I'm starving, but I'm vegetarian and everything is closing! Cue Dunbar. Saved my life, I ordered the chana masala and aloo gobi. They delivered, thank goodness. Delivery guy found me. Delicious. I'm so happy right now. Thank you for saving me from room service! :)
It's okay. The rice is good, although they use frozen Costco veggies for the Pulao. The sauces are really good. The chicken is okay, I get the impression it's cooked separate and then added at the time of order to the sauce, because it's bland and lacks moisture. The naan bread is bad.
I will be ordering again I'm sure though!
I read a lot of the reviews about small portions, bad service etc. I have been ordering delivery at Dunbar pizza for three years now, none of those ever happened to me. They deliver within 40 min max to UBC, food is always hot and full when they come. And the portion is HUGE, I can only finish half, maybe 3/4 if I'm really hungry. And I'm not a person who eats like birds. I honestly don't understand why some people think this portion is small. Only thing happened was once we order over $30 (not sure about the price anymore) and got two cans of free coke, but they forget to bring the cans, they apologized and the next time we ordered they gave us a 2L coke to make it up. The phone answering person and drivers were always super friendly too. Will always order :)
The shahi paneer is AMAZING. So rich and creamy with loads of homemade cheese. Great value. The pizza is delicious. always a lot of quality toppings. Butter chicken wasn't very impressive, as it was a cooked chicken breast added to the sauce almost as an afterthought, but having tried the other food, I would give it another shot. New favourite pizza place!
