Been to Cafe Barneys a bunch of times for breakfast and it's pretty great. The breakfast burrito is my personal favorite although the Bennies are good. The service is good too.
Decent food & service. We avoided this place because of negative reviews, but were pleasantly surprised upon our visit. I had the veggie burger, it was a bit crumbly but I used my knife & fork and it tasted great. My boyfriend had an Eggs Benedict which looked really good with perfectly runny poached eggs.
Our server was speedy, eager and patient. Had our food and drinks within 20 minutes. We came during non-peak hours, so I can't comment on how it is when it is busy. But from our experience, the servers are friendly and fast.
Something to look forward to.... I have had the enjoyment of great food and fine beers at Caffé Barney on two occasions now. On my first visit, I took a friend, newly arrived from California: He loved the place. The food took a while, but the wait was pleasant with good humoured banter between staff and customers. It's a place I look forward to visiting when I'm in the area. The food offerings are interesting and very tasty and the variety of beers is outstanding.
Nice spot. I do like the interior very much, it has a cozy type feel with the art, the brickwork, and the bar area. The patio is tiny but it feels very intimate with great views up and down Main Street. I felt so indecisive and everyone I was with started ordering so I just went with the burger, i forget exactly what it was called but it was something the effect of "the burger" lol. It was pretty good! The beer prices were a tad cheaper than the average joint, the Fat Tug Pale Ale was good as always. Cool place!
Great service, average food. You get what you pay for at this spot.
Service at lunch was great - had salmon omelet with cream cheese and pesto. Found it good but by the end it was tasting a tad too salty. Couldn't do the hashbrowns though they are deep fried - with the sausages. That is not how to cook hashbrowns....
Good Service and Food. Friendly service, and big food portions. A wide selection of wines.
Big fan over here. Friendly staff, good service, and consistent food are all great reasons to visit Caffe Barney on main street.
For a casual drink or something to eat, I frequent here probably once a week, and never leave disappointed.
The Bob Cobb salad, the tofu veggie stirfry or chicken wings and french fries are our go-tos but the whole menu is good.
That being said, if you aren't a fan of Blue Cheese or bacon, then the Bob Cobb isn't for you. It can be heavy on both at times.
If you're looking for highbrow fancyfood, or a soggy pizza, then this isn't the place.
If you're looking for friendly staff, great service and a casual vibe, then go and check it out!
Granville location is awesome. The Granville location has a really delicious brunch. The staff are friendly, and I go there every weekend. I've never been to the Main St. location, so I can't comment on the service or food, but know that it's much different.
Barney's On Main. This is my favorite watering hole on the main strip. The staff are great, take their time to get to know you and the food is consistently good. On the drink side of things it is one of the best ceasars in town. There are always characters around the bar and it makes for good conversation.
Was there last week on a visit to Vancouver,B.C / had a great experience - great food - atmosphere for a quick lunch was second to non / super friendly waitress - good music and overall a place I will come back to soon enough when I'm back In Vancouver. Make sure to have a Pint on the local Red Truck Lager - a must for any beer fan!
The other review is crazy. My girlfriend and I go for brunch all the time at places around the city and Barney's does a great brunch. Don't forget to go later in the day for dinner and drinks.

We will be back , since mom loved the burger so much that she asked for their card. I know she will be requesting for this place in the near future!
A couple of months ago, I was working out of a different office for a day, and the locals took me to Caffe Barny for breakfast. The place had a nice atmosphere, and pretty lively for the time of day (around 11am). I had the Eggs Benny with Smoked Salmon,
Caffé Barney is one of those solid, Vancouver institutions that serves reliable, comfy, honest-to-goodness food that doesn't break your wallet. BUT it surprised me (very pleasantly) when I invited my friends HF and family for brunch along with our common friend ML and they were INCREDIBLY accommodating to HF and IT's children (4 and 2 if I recall correctly). So, they earned brownie points on my book. Long story made short? Also, short post because I can't find the damn website for Caffé Barney. Brunch was fabulous, chorizo scramble on a bagel with potatoes, and I really enjoyed it. The chorizo was quite authentic (I'm not sure if it was Mexican or Spanish, but it did taste spicy just like I prefer it), and the scrambled eggs were fluffy and savoury, without being runny. I would definitely give Caffe Barney a try again.
