Ramen, no complaints here. Arrived at noon, but friends were there slightly ahead of time to grab a table. Very busy. Had the gomoku ramen. Nice flavored broth (mild, and not salty). Pork was tasty -- almost sweet. One lonely tempura shrimp, greasy, but quite yummy. Good-sized portions, all under $8. What's to complain about?!? I'll come again.
Decent for the Money. I have been coming here for probably close to 20 years. The prices haven't increased much in that period of time.
The food is decent, and I've always ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Don. Sometimes I also get the deep fried pork wontons.
The service is quick at lunchtime. Sometimes too quick. They try and gear themselves to handle the office lunch crowd so they want to get you seated and served in about 10 minutes, and out the door in another 15-20.
Sometimes this is good, but sometimes- like today- it's bad.
It's bad because the waitress forgets half your food order.
I'd still go back. Cheap prices, good portion sizes.
Good curry. Try the curry Ebi fried rice. Comes with soup and sprouts. Seating can be cramped but food is good. Decent prices.
You should try the other menu items.... I looove this place! It's a lunch diner setting, so you can't really expect much with the decor....what matters when you only have one hour for lunch is the speedy service, and this place has got it down like a well-oiled machine! Yes, the ramen is just so-so (especially because it is Korean-run and not authentic), but the fried rice with spicy ground meat is yum yum yummy (I'm drooling right now just thinking about it!)....oddly enough, it's their other menu items that outshine the ramen, so they should think about changing their name to Fried Rice Shogun :)
In a world where customer service is fast becoming a dying art and the tipping regime is getting outta control, it’s hard to blame a girl for falling for Shogun who treats her right. Even if the food errs on the side of subpar and the sushi is almost inedible, welcoming attitudes, happy spirits, and most especially, free appetizers go a long way. Creeping into the restaurant for a late lunch at 2pm, we have the owner’s friendly assurances that he’s waiving the normal charge of $1.50 Miso Soup and Kimchi for us.
