The best sushi place I've been to in the area so far. I've not deviated from my typical order of salmon and tuna maki with miso so I can't speak much to their specialty rolls but their tuna and salmon are good. My go-to for sushi when I'm at work until / if I find a better place. Also the couple that work here are lovely and it seems like they put real heart into what they do.
Good Sushi at a good price. They have brown rice sushi which I really like and it's quite tasty. This has become our go to place and they deliver to.
The BEST! Our favorite sushi in all of Vancouver. My partner and I have been getting take out from here once a week for almost 2 years. The prices are reasonable, owners are friendly, and best of all the sushi is fresh and great selection of rolls. Some of our favorite rolls: Amber, Alaska, Green Hornet, Passion Fruit.
Affordable, large portions, high ratio of contents over rice and quick service. Not to mention that it's a 30 second walk from my workplace, so lunch is always at my fingertips. I ordered a Salmon and California roll as my usual testers, and a Dynamite roll just for kicks. There was a lot of salmon in the Salmon rolls, which is surprising considering the cheap price. California rolls weren't too mayo-y, and had a hint of fishiness that Cali usually doesn't have, so points there. Dynamite came with two prawn tempura instead of the usual one, and was fresh from the fryer which you never find anywhere unless ordering from AYCE (and even then AYCE sometimes brings out cold tempura *tsk* *tsk* *tsk*). No longer than a ten minute wait, and a solid 4.0 for Ro.
My wife and I ate there last night and we really liked the sushi. The green hornet was especially good. We had edemame tea miso and four types of sushi for $20.
Overall was very satisfied with my meal. Was left full and had leftovers to go. My mom and I ordered salmon/tuna/toro sashimi and the cuts were not too big or too small. My mom also had the clam miso which wasn't too special but it was different from just ordinary miso. Also ordered the Bbq ribs which were delicious but very chewy. Flavour was on point though. And lastly, had two rolls, dynamite and the Vancouver roll which were all delicious as well. :)
Good sushi and quick takeout service. Lots of veggie options, including rolls and combinations I had not seen in other places before. Reasonable prices as well.
Good Sushi at a Great Price. Really cheap pricing by any standards, but the rolls were good, and the portions were excellent. You definitely get your bang for your buck with Ro Sushi.
I am friends with the owner. He will be opening sometime in the next week. His new address is 678 W. Broadway (Heather St.) A block away from his previous location.
Yay they are re-opening!. I love this place! I eat a lot of sushi and this place is one of the best I have tried in Vancouver and very reasonably priced... if you just want excellent Sushi with no frills this is the place to go.. I was so disappointed when they closed down due to a condo being built on the block they were on.. but I just called Julian today (the owner) and he said they should be open next Thursday (Nov. 28th) or the latest on Monday December 1st. Their Golden California rolls are amazing and the Green Hornet and Dragon roll is sooooooo good! So happy to hear they are opening soon! Their new location is just one block west at: 101-678 West Broadway :)
I went to Ro Sushi a couple times a month for the last 5 years working nearby. Best spicy agedashi tofu in town. I was sad to see it closed due to a condo building going up. If anyone knows if they are reopening somewhere, let me know.
My first sushi experience in vancouver and this place was delicious. The service was very kind and we ordered a whole lot of sushi. It's cheap and delicious.
Cheers... to SUSHI RO!. I love Ro Sushi, though I usually change the name to "SUSHI RO" because it makes more sense. Or I just call it Ro. There's only one Ro.
I really like the food here. Agedashi Tofu has fantastic batter. Special rolls are a little expensive, but tasty and filling.
It can be slow at times, usually during lunch rush. Also, I've had a couple disappointing experiences with the Yam quality, usually at the end of the night. I usually forgive and forget though.
Wonderful food. This place has been a favorite for a number of years now.
I'll admit sometimes the quality of service is lacking.. however; the food never dissapoints, the prices are super cheap, the tea is hot (and free)
17$ can totally fill 3 hungry adults
The best place to sit is at the window bar, it's really a good spot to chill and watch the people on the street.
also the location is close to bookstores, transit, and everything really..
bonus this place has double ply name brand toilet paper in the bathrooms..
:)
Good Sushi. I like this place. Good to sit down or even get delivery. Volcano rolls, Viva Las Vegas rolls. Vancouver rolls. Yum!
Ro Sushi looked like a small low-end restaurant from the outside, so I didn't have high expectations for the food. The decor inside was actually not bad, and the food was fresh and reasonably priced. For example, 5 thick slices of toro sashimi was just $5.50. The fish was a bit too cold though, so we had to let it sit for a while before digging in. Aside from that detail, the toro was really fresh and not mushy at all like regular tuna sashimi. I ordered a veggie roll called the passion fruit roll ($3.95) with papaya, yam, carrot, avocado, cucumber, and inari (which is sweet bean curd). I got it partly out of curiosity because I didn't think sushi without fish would taste good. Surprisingly the yam had a strong enough flavour which combined with the sweetness of the papaya to make a pretty decent roll. The 3 nigiri sushi served on the same plate were hamachi sushi ($2 each). They were quite pricey (although still cheaper than at most other Japanese restaurants), but they were well wort
