Hello my foodie friends! I feel like my posts lately have been alternating between noodle shops and bubble tea joints but I can’t help it. Summer brings this side out of me!. The first time I came to Ramen Takanotsume was when it was known as Ramenman which was only just last year. The ramen market in downtown is so intense that unless you’re one of the popular choices like Ramen Jinya, Ramen Koika or Santouka ramen, it’s pretty hard to survive. As much as Grayson and I enjoy the chain ramen shops every so often, we usually go for the little guys because sometimes they end up being better than the chains.

Ramen Taka has become one of our to go ramen places in Vancouver now. We came here during their grand opening and it was an awesome experience!

We tried their Shio Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, Spicy Miso, and Chicken Karage.

The ramen texture is perfect! We really enjoyed the Shoyu Ramen and Spicy Miso. The broth was very tasty. You can also get extra soup if you’d like to.

I recommend you to try their Chicken Karage as well! We love it because it is very crunchy and flavourful. Good portion as well!

Heidi - the marketing manager - was really friendly and professional.

Ramen Taka is a new ramen joint located in West End. Apparently, this particular joint is their first international location outside of Japan.

Ramen Taka has become our new favorite place to get a delicious bowl of authentic Japanese ramen in town!

The ramen is delicious and packed with flavours. Each bowl is carefully crafted to deliver the real authentic Japanese ramen.

The noodles have the right texture and firmness -cooked perfectly.

Their broth is well-balanced, rich, and has a good amount of lard (not excessively). The layer of lard on the top is meant to keep the ramen pipping hot from beginning to end.

The slice of pork (chashu) is lean without any fats - which we really appreciate it.

Our personal favorite is definitely the Dynamite Pork Kara Miso Ramen (level 3 spicy). It definitely has depth of miso flavour. If you are craving for a bowl of spicy ramen, this is the place to go to!

The service is definitely excellent. We could tell that the staff are passionate about their ramen.

We highly recommended this place

If you've been keeping up with my instagram stories, you'll know that I recently started taking CBD for my speech and OCD. I've been testing it out and it's been helping quite a bit (granted I still stutter but to a lesser degree.) Will my speech impediment ever escape me? One can only dream.   A side effect I didn't expect? Everything tastes overwhelmingly sweet or salty now! The first few times I thought it was the food (why did they put so much sugar in this?!) but after it started happening at every meal, I knew it had to be my tastebuds.

There is another new ramen shop to hit the “ramen district” on Robson, a strip offering you all the various ramen shoppes on one stretch of road. They have taken over for “Ramenman” and walking up to the restaurant, I immediately noticed the difference in ownership. The awning is printed with traditional Japanese characters, the store front is framed with paper lanterns, and cloth banners hang above the threshold. And best of all, a showcase of plastic dishes that are offered within are displayed outside. They tempt you with what could be, just as they would if you were in Japan. Each of these elements spoke to the difference and the authenticity of the new tenants.
