Best pho I’ve had! (After ones in Vietnam) so so good! Authentic flavour. I’d recommend adding extra beef. Great price and very friendly staff.

What better way to comfort yourself on a cold day in Vancouver. AHHH, a hot bowl of pho.
I gotta be honest, I was a little nervous stepping into this place because I have my top favourite places to have Vietnamese. From start to finish, my service was quick and friendly. My bowl of pho was decent, but the shocker was the salad rolls wow...
Usually it's just noodles, lettuce, with your choice of meat or seafood. But they added cucumbers and veggies. Would I come back? Yes.
The restaurant is very cozy inside as well.

Nothing like a warm bowl of noodle soup to warm your spirits (and your body) on a cool rainy Vancouver night. Usually, that would equate to something along the lines of Pho, Ramen, or some other kind of noodle soup. The subject of tonight’s visit is Ha Long Bay, located along Pender Street in Vancouver’s Downtown Core.

The classic rare beef noodle was fresh and tasty. Good tasting broth (not too salty) and perfectly shorn strips of beef. Spring rolls seemed a bit on the pricey side but their size and the number of shrimp you get seems to make up for that. Friendly staff.

I don't enjoy Vietnamese food as much as I would like to, so when my friend and I visited Ha Long Bay, I asked him to relay a few things. First, the broth had a good consistency and wasn't too salty. Secondly, the meatballs were cooked well and nicely seasoned. Lastly, the pho noodles were tender and had absorbed the broth well enough to enhance the taste instead of changing the taste. Based off of his experience, I may have to go back and try this for myself. The score we agreed on is a 4.0, but that may go up to 4.5 if I get a chance to get first-hand experience.

This is my favourite Vietnamese restaurant in the city. I am addicted to their Pho...it's amazing! I come here for lunch at least twice a week. Service is super friendly too!

A small and quiet restaurant with friendly and attentive servers. I had a house special pho. The portion size was a bit smaller than I expected for a large bowl at $9.50, but it filled me nonetheless.

They accept credit and debit cards which is nice.

I have been here a few times. The beef stew is amazing! The soup is rich and tasty, but not salty. The pho is very good too. The price is good considering the quality and large portion served. This restaurant is my top three Vietnamese restaurants.

Quality over quantity is what I look for in a place to eat.

The exterior states it as a hole in the wall but inside is cute, charming, and ridiculously clean. It's a mother daughters establishment and they keep it well with pride.

Keep in mind, the prices had gone up $1 on each item since the last time a menu was uploaded.

I ordered the special Pho and it came it a smaller bowl, but it was well put. The soup shined as it had a rounded taste and with the squeezed lime, it had a pleasant tang!

The special includes tripe, rare slices of beef, cooked slices and beef balls. I liked how the cooked beef had edges of fat that added a buttery flavour without the textures that would usually say "ew fat". There was enough bean sprouts and basil. The large side was ordered by a lady nearby and it's considerably larger, if that's your thing.

Next, I ordered their rice salad roll with homemade pork patty. Very fresh and the sauce is noticeably less sweeter than other versions I've had, which I appreciate. I thought 4.50 was a steep price for a salad roll but it's huge! 8.30 for 2 is for sure a meal for all the ladies out there. Honestly before this I didn't think there is much to a rice salad roll but I'm wrong!

If you want a cheaper option, go for the banh mi, all priced at 5.50.

I'll come back soon again! This is sure to be a regular favourite.

The best Vietnamese in the city. Truly, hands down the BEST Vietnamese in Vancouver. Consistently delicious, generous servings and an unbelievably low price keeps us coming back. The service is friendly, too. Can not recommend highly enough.

Great Pho. Having gone to most of the Pho places within a mile of this (probably about 15 of them, including down Main st). I keep coming back. Insanely quick, cheap($ wise) and incredibly good. How can you go wrong? They have great hours and great service to boot!

Hip Viet Restaurant DT. I love this little place. They play good old house music, the servers are nice, the food is good and best of all its affordable so i can eat there on the regular. Keep up the good work ladies!

PS its usually pretty busy between 12-1pm so I'd recommend going either before 12 or after 1pm.

Cheers,

Fresh and yummy!. Have only had takeaway from here as I usually just nip out in my lunch break and grab a quick bite. The pho has been wonderful every time I've had it, the rare beef is fab. When you get the takeaway and pour the wonderful broth onto the meat, it cooks right before you eyes. Highly recommended for a quick and satisfying, very reasonably priced lunch.

Great Pho and other dishes. The Service is great, even when they are busy! I keep coming back, 1-2 times per week and I am not the "regular customer type" but it is hard to stay away from this place!

Really Good Pho. Went here for a quick lunch one day without expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised. The Pho was clearly made with care and the broth was excellent. You could actually make out the component spices as you ate it.

This is one of those rare finds... A good Pho place downtown!

Been here a couple times for lunch and love the soup. Had the veggie pho today and it was full of fresh veggies and tofu. Very flavorful broth. Happy to find good pho near the office! Staff is also very friendly - love that

Fine pho. This place is packed at lunchtime, but there's seating at a bar area so the wait is not bad when eating alone. I ordered pho with rare beef, spring rolls, and a lime soda. the pho broth was excellent and well-seasoned. the spring rolls were unremarkable but good. service was pleasant and prompt. they go easy on the sugar in the lime sodas, which is very refreshing. I will happily stop by for a lunchtime pho again.

I decided to check out this spot because it's got the highest reviews for Vietnamese food in the area. I went in around 6 pm and decided to get take out pho. I was greeted by a polite young lady who took my order and offered me water while I waited. It didn't take long and my meal was ready and off I went to my hotel room. ( just in town for a conference). I was delighted to discover two bowls in my bag. One with the broth and the other with the meat and noodle. Ingenuis ! My meat didn't overlook on the walk back! This broth rivals my ultimate pho restaurant in Victoria (pho vy). The broth is deep and delicious. The meat was sliced perfectly thin and I had a generous portion of sprouts and basil with lime and sauces as well. I'll probably go back tomorrow night instead of trying a new place. Friendly service and good food.

Just after one sip of the beef broth, everything ceased for a second and I was feeling a soulful moment. Yes the broth is THAT good here at Ha Long Bay. Off a good start, my date with a bowl of pho continued. Noodles were perfectly cooked, and the texture was right on the money. Beef tasted fresh and delicious. Beef balls was crunch and full of flavours. Beef stripe was slightly tough but acceptable. Basil, sweet onion, bean sprouts, lime, chili pepper, all could not be any fresher. It was a very commendable bowl of pho! “Everything” Pho @ Ha Long Bay I heard about Ha long Bay a couple months ago. When I decided to give them a try, they were closed for renovation. So this long wait was totally worth it. I just hope next time when I’m here again, the broth would still taste the same. My friend ordered the spring rolls here and they were petite, and looked more like the rolls you usually get at dim sum. Was it really hard to make the spring rolls with rice paper wrap?

Ha Long Bay Despite their vibrant food posters plastered across the window, it would be months before I finally took notice of this modest vietnamese restaurant on W Pender before I finally took notice. Finally, as I embarked to Sushi 01 for some lunch, a distraction caused my companion and I to take a different direction. The food posters finally caught our eyes. It's been a long time since I had vietnamese food and my stomach was agreeing with my brain to go in. We took a quick look at the menu and immediately knew what we wanted to get; an order of 8 spring rolls and a vietnamese sub. The lemongrass sandwich made our first visit a great experience and memorable. Succulent grilled chicken, marinated with lemongrass and seasoning, rested along side of julienned cucumbers, carrots and cilantro. The french baguette was fresh and toasted. The sandwich tantalized my palette. I enjoyed every single bite of it and continued to fantasize about it from time to time afterwards. It was a done d

Its interesting when restaurants close and a new one pops up. In the case of The Best Pho House, it looked sketchy as hell. A few weeks ago, a new Pho restaurant called Ha Long Bay opened up. The definitely refreshed the look of the exterior and changed it to a bright blue. It seemed more welcoming, so Mandu and I headed out for some lunch. The interior is quite small, but there were enough tables for the rest of the lunch crowd. The server was super awkward most of the time as well. This must be run by a family since this little girl kept filling up our tea and clearing out dishes. She was super cute, but of course not in a pedo kind of way. Looking at the menu, there are the usual items you would expect in a Vietnamese restaurant. There are also pictures surrounding the walls of the restaurant, so you can see what it looks like before ordering. Everyone loves pictures, I sure do! Honestly, if you are new to the cuisine, you would want to some pictures to see what you are getting. Man
