owners are friendly and nice. prices are reasonable and the sushi is also good. been going here for a couple of years and it's always been good
I look for high quality-to-price ratios, and Jako delivers splendidly. The Sushi is mediocre, and it's very cheap by downtown standards. I eat here regularly.
delicious, had the Sunshine and Davie roll. would recommend. pretty humble aesthetics, but the staff are super friendly and helpful. relatively quiet for lunch so no problems getting a seat.
I've been coming here frequently for a few years now and with these prices and this type of freshness, it can't really be beat. The fish and seafood are fresh, the prices are remarkably low, and the quality is amazing. They're also very good at altering orders if you have intolerance, allergies, or just dislike something. They'll also make to order some of your favorite rolls (eg; I love the Sunshine roll, but as I'm allergic to any sort of peppers, I get it with mayo and no cucumbers instead of spicy sauce). They're also very good at remembering faces/patrons and have a congenial attitude and personality.
For price and quality, it's really hard to beat, particularly in the downtown core. Easy to access and I get mine to go to enjoy at home.
Working nearby today and found Jako on Zomato after failure at Sushi Ville since they only take cash or debit. I saw a sign outside showing a bunch of combos around $6.95, considering its downtown I find it pretty cheap. While looking at the menu, I overheard other tables ordering Teriyaki Chicken Bento. Seems like a popular item.
Service - Good. While dining the kitchen chef was serving the food and he would have small talk with his customers. Seems like they are regulars. He also brought me my food with big smiles. The lady waitress needs to learn from him!
Teriyaki Chicken Bento - $6.95. Good deal. The assorted tempura that came with it was warm. I guess it had been sitting for a bit in the kitchen. It was also a little brown assuming the oil may not be that fresh/clean. The teriyaki chicken was slightly dry, but still very tasty. I think they put a little too much sauce though. Miso soup didn't really have any tofu or greens in it. However it wasn't salty.
Spicy Scallop Cone - Biggest cone I ever had at Japanese restaurants. Also the only one with tempura flakes in it. It added a crunch which was different. Wasn't too spicy.
My favourite sushi stop. Always fresh, affordable, good portions and friendly service.
Fresh delicious food, decent portions, great prices and very friendly service. Highly recommended!
Great, fresh and delicious food at great prices. I got the deluxe bento and was content with the portions and quality of the food.
???. Confused with everyone else's reviews on Jako.
I have been coming here for the past 3 years regularly and havnt had a bad experiance once. The owners are there everytime and are always very curteous and nice.
The service is fast (90% of the time) and the food is good.
I'll admit it's not the best sushi I have ever had but for a fast food style sushi it is very good and cheap.
Best Spicy Cali rolls I've had DT.
Good and Cheap! And people dressing very bad give me the chance to take pics like at Walmart
Spicy tuna roll = yum yum's this is my fav place in town
A local favorite. I live within a block of Jako, which means I also live within a block of several other sushi joints, but I always order takeout from Jako. IMHO, this restaurant has a great balance of quality maki (that's all I get), prices and service. The staff are always pleasant, my food is always made right AND the place is open on Sundays too!
Great food and best prices. One of our favourites. Not upscale but the quantities are in good portion and the prices are the best.

Loads of competition in the immediate area and every time we go there the place is packed in addition to two or three locals waiting for takeout so there must be something good about the place. Portions are generous and prices are the best in the downtown area.
Really good sushi, great value. Had the salmon bento box and hubby got spicy combo B, both of which were really tasty and fresh. Quick and efficient service in a no-nonsense, no-frills atmosphere (photos of food on walls, you get the picture). Will definitely come back next time with a larger appetite. And I think my large Kirin cost more than my meal...recommend for a casual night of delicious sushi.
Best little Sushi place downtown. Amazing quality. The tuna sashimi melts in your mouth it's so tender!! Sometimes I eat here 3-4 times a week!
We were greeted by a very nice and friendly man who showed us to a small table. The place was packed – when we had a look at the menu and the many pictures of dishes on the walls, we saw why: bargain basement prices! So, while I didn’t get to use my Group
