Signature dish: hk styled Curry Beef 咖喱牛腩 is always our first choice
The portion is big enough for 2 persons to share.
It is a must-have dish when I returned to Vancouver every time. I will recommend to western friends if they really wanna to try and taste the Hong Kong good taste.
After day of work and a few hours of shopping at Ikea, we were faced with finding a spot to dine at 9PM on a weekday in the Victoria Drive area. Everything closes early there, like around 9, and we were starving. Mui Garden was the only option for “good” food past 9:30PM:. I had the curry beef brisket with rice noodle in soup (left), P had the same with vermicelli, and J had the curry beef brisket with rice. Clearly, the curry is a good choice here. Mui Garden has renovated in the past few years, since I was last here in my high school days, and now it looks much cleaner! They still have the same servers that I grew up with, and although there are slight changes in the menu, it still feels like home. Looking at that photo makes me hungry…
Food quality was good, and price was pretty good! I had the Laksa, which I thought wasn't as coconutty as it could've been, but their mapo tofu was nice. Meals also came with a drink! Ended up not being able to finish because there was quite a bit of food, so portions were a little big. I'm not complaining!
Definitely can be a little hard to flag down someone to take your order at times, but it wasn't the worst.
Everything is great about this place. The people, the service, and the food. I always get their HK style milk tea and curry brisket on rice noodle, the curry is so unique that you probably can't find anywhere else in Vancouver. Other than that, their Hainanese chicken on rice is also a must try, go with a oil rice, it would taste even better with the chicken and sauces. I don't have a complaint about this place other than parking is always hard to find.
Solid place to get good Hong Kong and Southeast Asian flavours. You can't go wrong with plain rice with their beef curry and a glass of iced milk tea.
Quick mini-review! We got a take-out order of sliced beef curry. It's a go-to curry without thinking too much about it. This time I thought the sauce was a bit runny but still has that same taste as every other time. There's a good portion of beef and sauce. Since it comes with rice, one order is good for about 1.5 of me if that's all you're eating, or about 3 people if you have other dishes like a carb, meat, and veggies.
My favorite childhood restaurant. Growing up, my family and I were frequent patrons of Mui Garden. Even to this day, we never fail to order the same dishes consisting of their Hainanese chicken and chicken satay skewers. These dishes are must-tries!
Love this place! Mui Garden.... Love this place!
Mui Garden on Victoria drive.
Great food and very good service.
The ladies that run this place always greet us with a smile.
Before we can get our butts parked in the bench seat, they always have a complimentary bowl of soup for us to enjoy.
We come here for the hai nan chicken with ginger. And the hai nan rice.
This with an order of gai lan....
HEAVEN!!!!!
Even though we stuff our selves they always have the complimentary Chinese dessert :)
I love theses gals .
One dish you have to try here and make sure to order couple of bowls of rice is the curry beef! Outstanding!
As Good As It Gets. I was discouraged by my cousin in Vancouver not to go to Mui Garden because it was old style. I insisted to go there after I was disappointed with a couple meals in Vancouver/Richmond during my 4-days stay. Mui Garden didn't fail me!!
We ordered a meal for six people even there're only three of us. Half Hai Nam Chicken was cooked to perfection. Aromatic chicken meat was firm and juicy; it went so well with ginger sauce and oily rice. Sweet and Sour Pork was freshy fried, cruchy outside and covered with right amount of sauce; meat was juicy and it came with plenty of pinapples, onions and peppers. Beef Brisket Curry was another killer, meat was tender, thick curry sauce cooked with coconut milk. I hardly had room to taste String Bean and Satay, so I could not give much comment; but they looked pretty good to me.
Needless to say, we packed at least half of the food home as expected. Servers were down to earth and provided decent service.
Skinny seats. Food is good, waitresses are impatient, seating is tight, prices are good, Richmond location has better seating
Free range chicken and curries are what they are noted for. Chicken kabobs are what I usually order.
It’s sort of like a Hong Kong Cafe, such as Golden Oscar, but it leans more towards something Deer Garden would serve. Good food, but portions on the small side and prices on the steeper side.
We’ve been to Mui Garden in the past, but we were completely unaware that they have a “secret” dining room in the back of the restaurant. Okay, so it’s not completely secret but it was a surprise to us.
Hungry after school, my friends and I decided on Mui Garden on Victoria and 43rd. I'm pretty sure I've been to Mui Garden a bit when I was younger, but since I got my license (and accompanying freedom), I don't eat around my neighbourhood much anymore. Mu
