We love the food, and service. It is always busy, but worth the wait. My family loves celebrating their birthdays there. Great deal on birthday days.

Great food. Large, descriptive menu. Prompt and friendly service and almost no time at all for our food to arrive. Decorated nicely and it went from empty when we arrived to completely full when we left! Definitely our new local sushi joint.

Honestly there is something really original and I love the flavour. Service was quite welcoming and patient. The prices are modest and well spent. Love it here!

My office is in the neighbourhood and if I don't pop in for lunch at least once weekly they send out a search party. The staff's friendly and efficient, the food's exquisite in quality, flavour and presentation. Do yourself a favour, check them out!

Delicious Japanese food in a cozy spot.

Just off West Broadway & Granville, it’s a convenient place to get to.

Been here a couple of times & always great service & food.

The sashimi always top quality as it’s sliced perfectly & melts in your mouth.

The assorted tempura is crispy & crunchy with the standard root vegetables & 4 lightly battered prawns. Great share plate.

The sushi variety is amazing. The Nude Boy replaces the seaweed with rice paper roll, the crab meat & the finishing sauce complimented the overall roll.
The Bacon Mountain is an impressive roll, bacon wrapped around the sushi roll topped with crisp shards of tempura.
The salmon oshi is good portion, large slices than others I’ve tried.

My recommendation- try any of the special rolls & if you are definitely try the Nude Boy. The sashimi is also a go to dish.

I wasn’t expecting much from this place: it’s really humble looking; the chefs and staff are Korean; and it’s so cheap, I was wondering: is the food going to be good? But it’s a favourite of my mom’s and I ended up going there with her and my brother on my trip to Vancouver. Some great dishes, like the black cod.

First time going here at the suggestion of a friend. We came here on a weekday around 12. It wasn’t too busy right before noon, but as soon as it was noon several groups started coming in and a line began to form. Good thing I got in here before then lol. It was louder in here than I expected. This is a Korean run sushi restaurant and we were given Korean chopsticks as well which aren’t great for picking up sushi.

My experience here at sushi van was pretty decent. It was almost a 4 rating, except the decor kinda dampens your experience. Service is friendly and prices are very friendly. It's definitely a great place for people wanting to eat frugal. I would come back again for take out. I got the Spicy salmon roll and chicken katsu. They were delicious!

Try the Love Love roll (❤️) and the salmon rose sashimi. If you are dining alone get the Tokyo Tower ("donburi"). This place used to be better when they used green tea rice in their sushi rolls. I'm not sure why they decided to take that out but now I'm disappointed and it has become more average.

excellent choice for sushi in Fairview. The sashimi was delicious and the rolls that my kids got were good too. I couldn't believe how cheap it was. I would have given a 4.5 but the food was much more excellent than the setting and decor.

Sushi Van is located on Granville near Broadway, and is among one of my favourite spots to have lunch with my colleagues since it’s close by and we don’t really have any other sushi restaurants nearby. It’s tucked away underneath the Vancouver Bullion Currency Exchange, so is a bit of a hidden gem for some. The tiny, but busy restaurant is run by Koreans, but the food is still pretty authentic and there are some decent eats.

i go here often for lunch, the lunch specials are good, beef and chicken bentos are good, rolls are good, the tempura was off, i think the oil should be changed more frequently.
but all in all, a good spot, try to get their before 12 or after 1 to avoid the busy lunch queue

Sushi Van is one of the few sushi restaurants in the Broadway/Granville area. Their food is of higher quality than Sushi Town/ Garden and their service is friendly and efficient. 12 pieces of tuna and salmon sashimi is only $9- a great value in my books! The "Tokyo Tower" has a tasty mish mash of flavours as it contains layers of rice, spicy tuna, imitation crab, and chopped scallop!

Delicious, affordable sushi with friendly staff. I usually don't like weird westernized sushi rolls but the stuff here has converted me. All the rolls are neat and well-made and you can tell the fish and other ingredients are very fresh. There's no nasty tempura batter smell when you enter the restaurant that a lot of places often have and the place is very clean. I came for the 100-day anniversary promotion and ordered a metric crapton of different rolls so I can basically recommend everything. Some of the best stuff include the Volcano roll, Sushi pizza, and the roll with seared tuna + fried garlic chips. Also, the restaurant is korean so they also have delicious huedubbap. I would say the only thing I would say was mediocre was the sushi risotto which was basically just a seafood fried rice with cheese. Definitely one of the best non-japanese sushi restaurants in Vancouver.

Quite Good. I went [here] earlier tonight, when I was out to buy some Gluten Free beer at the local liquor store a street up from Sushi Van. I bought an Alaska Roll with real crab (minus most of the masago / fish eggs; personal preference) and a Spicy Salmon Roll. As the title for my review indicates, it was quite good.

I'm going to go [there] again, probably tomorrow lol. I should have bought extra for tonight, that's how / why I found this Urban Spoon profile ⎯ searching for Sushi Van sushi. I can't say for certain whether you'll enjoy the food or not, but I recommend it. Note: I usually don't write reviews of establishments.

Ordered the takoyaki, appetizer tempura, selifornia roll, gyoza, chicken karaage, and cali roll. Cali rolls are quite small but overall, the food is pretty good considering the prices (which aren't all too bad). Our waitress was very kind, and the place was clean. I enjoyed my first time here, and I will be back!

Delicious! Very friendly service. We ordered the gommae, takiyaki (deep fried octopus), red dragon roll, and tuna tataki roll- everything was fantastic! So glad there is such a high quality sushi place in the neighborhood. Will definitely go back.

Great Joint!. This place popped up few weeks ago and figured I'd give it a try.
Dropped by for dinner time. Was relatively busy.
Nice clean deco and friendly staff. Whole sushibar and kitchen is open so you can pretty much see everything getting prepared.
There aren't too many nice sushi places around so it's now super convenient to grab food.
Overall food was great, cheap and fresh.
planning to try their lunch combos soon
Recommended.

Nice little place. New little sushi place where "Wrap Zone" used to be. The owners have redecorated and brightened it up. Nice clean but casual atmosphere with free wi-fi and pop hits playing. The sushi itself is decent, and very good for the price. They use green rice which is a bit of a different taste, but overall still good. Super convenient and great lunch specials.

I was attracted to Sushi Van after reading their menu online and discovering their repertoire of unique special rolls. Who doesn't want to try a Sushi Risotto, a Burning Love Roll, or even a Nude Boy Roll? In addition to their special rolls, they also offer dishes in every major category of Japanese food from teriyaki to tempura to udon. Every time I visit a Japanese restaurant, I always want to try food from every category, but

A new sushi restaurant on South Granville. A welcomed change to the neighbourhood, from the “Wrap zone” that previously held the location. This week was their grand opening and the no tax banners and signs attracted my attention. Though it not being on street level and the need to walk down a flight of steps hid it from general view. Once inside the space opens up, with a sushi bar by the door and a dining space done in black and white to the right. The bar was left simple with black shelves holding white dishware. Their logo branded behind all this and spotlighted with lamps. For a small sushi place it was eye catching. A cozy space to have dinner at and enjoy your company in. I am sure “Sushi Van” will give the two sushi restaurants in either direction a run for their money. Three chefs worked behind the sushi bar. Two in black coats and caps, one in a traditional male style kimono. A server/hostess in branded tee and a bus girl in all black ran the front of store. Both buzzed around
