Ba Le Deli and Bakery is a sandwich shop that focus on banh mi. They do not serve pho or iced coffee, which are the two of my must-get in a Vietnamese restaurants. What you can find here are banh mi, bottled drinks, and Vietnamese desserts. There are several locations in town. This is the newest one on Broadway and Fraser St. It is an interesting choice for them to open another franchise store so close to their Kingsway location at 691 E Broadway
Video review on youtube: vancity food crew ba le deli & bakery
.
I tried this place out due to a recommendation while chatting with some foodies. This place is a bakery that sells banh mi and vietnamese products like sauces, snacks, and desserts.
I tried a house special sandwich #5, and it was good. The bread is legit and the sandwich is solid. I recently went here again and the sandwich was of the same quality. Its a dependable place if you want a decent banh mi. I haven't tried any of their other types of subs but perhaps someday I will.
I've heard good reviews for Ba-Le but have never really gotten around to try. Finally I tried their banh mi (special and the chicken) and they are both equally good! and the price is excellent ! I was having cravings for it again the very next day!
Everyone says Ba-Le has great banh mi because they bake their own bread in-house. What's the difference between the two Ba-Les then? We went and tried them both.
○fast food/ service not applicable
○excellent Vietnamese subs/ my go to place
○inexpensive / good place to order catering viet subs for events
○limited seats for eat in
○limited parking
○would I go back? Yes
Great place to get a Vietnamese banh mi sandwich. Prices are great and service is usually prompt and friendly. One of the more tastier banh mi joints by far. Love their freshly baked bread. The "special" sub is my favourite!
Not much seating but they cater to mostly take out.
Parking can be super tricky though but still worth the trip.
YUMMM, classic vietnamese subs that never disappoint. I would prefer more meat and fillings but I always just end up getting the sub that comes with extra meat haha!
Great place for a quick bite, the bahn mi's are cheap, satisfying and flavourful. I think the bread definitely makes the sandwich and ba le has that crispy light baguette that really brings everything together. The lemongrass chicken was a good choice, although I wish they had spicier peppers or at least some Sriracha sauce, I was really hoping for some heat.
Pretty good banhmi and great pate taste. I also got the ice coffee and that was good too. 😛 Lots of people came in to get sandwiches and snacks to-go during the time I was sitting there eating mine.
Fantastic place for a dessert drink and sandwiches. They pump a massive volume and cater to a big community of people. Service is fast and prompt. Food is always consistent. Prices very affordable. It's always good here and you can't go wrong.
BEST VIET SUBS. I've been eating vietnamese subs my entire life and Ba Le's are the best I've had. The French bread is made from scratch and baked in house daily and it shows! It has so such a perfectly baked crunchy shell and the most soft and flakey inside.
I always get two tofu subs and eat both...they are so good!
the best Vietnamese sub in town $3-50-$5 pair it with Iced coffee, yum! Choose from sausages, head cheese, cold cuts, pork bbq, meatballs, beef, veggies, tofu etc
Later afternoon lunch. H & K wanted to intro some of their food and "subs". H & K liked Ba Le for the subs. We had bbq pork, beef, and chicken with yogurt and something coconutee. YUM! mini french loaves were fresh, the ingredients tasty, the yogurt light & creamy, the coconut treat delicious. winner.
One I compare all others too. Bought one when they had a video store beside them back in the day. Been hooked every since. The go to spot for subs.
Yummy Banh Mi!. This is a great place to get Vietnamese subs, made to order and tastes great!
Had the Grilled Pork, Chicken and Grilled Beef subs.
BUN me. The banh mi thit's @ ba le are just plain yummmyyy. extra cilantro & diakon plssss. this is vancouver's go-to spot for banh mi thit's without a doubt.
Best deal for taste and value. I've eaten a few Vietnamese subs in my life, but I can't say I'm an expert in how they should be made. It's hard to imagine that any could be better than the bánh mì at Ba Le. The green peppers, carrots and other vegetables on the sandwiches are fresh and crisp. The meats are tasty, with a hint of exotic spicing. There's a decent lashing of cilantro for that Southeast Asian flavour vibe. Plus the smallish sub rolls, which they make right there, are crispy on the crust and white-bready tender in the centre.
The place looks daggy inside, with a mish-mash of odd Asian food products (at least to my ignorant Westernized eyes) in a cooler case and on counters for sale. To my mind, that makes it more authentic. The staff who work there go like dynamos, making your bánh mì to order, and FAST. The best part is, it's cheap! None of the subs, which are decently filling but not overwhelming, cost more than $4. Why anyone would go to Subway or McDonald's or some schlock chain and pay more for less-worthy sandwiches is a mystery to me. If you want a good small meal that you don't have to feel guilty about, buy it at Ba Le!
Cheap fast good. I came here based on the great reviews and over 90% Likes from Urbanspoon. When I first walked in, the place was empty and judging by the look of the counter and storage, I almost left right away. Honestly the place looks like a dump: cluttered, messy, tables looked like it is from a yard sale, and it doesnt look remotely like a place I want my food to come from. On the way out the door, I saw a huge pile of at least 40-50 crusty sandwich rolls and thought if they plan to sell that many sandwiches at 2pm on a Tuesday, they can't be all that bad. So I mustered up my courage and examined their menu once again. I went for a number two: hot viet sausage sandwich for $3.75 (incl tax). The result was a very fresh and crusty roll with hot fillings, pickled veggies, cilantro, and hot sauce. It tasted very good, great value for money, no msg. Unpretentious little place worth a try if you are in the neighborhood. I didnt have time to try their individually packed creme caramel desserts in the refridgerator, but will try next time.
Cheap and tasty. Great Bánh mì (aka namwich or viet sub)! Love it here. It's cheap, fresh and tasty.
If you like it toasty, bring it home and give it a quick toast and it's even better!
Banh Mi for Life!. Best $3 sandwich you'll get in the city. Thank you Ba Le.
Nice, simple Vietnamese sub shop. The bread is fresh, the beef sub is tasty, the employees are polite and the establishment is clean. Don't go there expecting miracles, but for a $3 or $4 sub you can't go wrong.
My fav vietnamese subs in the city. These are so good! and unlike most places they now actually bake the bread themselves. when i worked near here i ate way too many.
Great sandwich & deal!. Most affordable vietnamese sub I've had in Vancouver. These used to go for $1 in Toronto (now $2 I believe). The special was $2.75 and there was just enough meat and veggies in it. Great, cheap on the go meal.
Awesome sandwiches and now they bake their own bread. Fresh French bread for less then $2. I've been going there for two years now and you just can't beat it for the price. It's always busy.
Ba Le Deli & Bakery. I like to come here for the food and it has the cheapest food price in town. the employees are very friendly, clean, fast and very helpful. the shop is located at #21-701 kingsway by the corner of fraser st. in vancouver.
Great and Cheap. Awesome Vietnamese sandwiches. You will be covered in crumbs though, the bread is crisp outside and soft inside. The perfect balance. For 3 bucks, it's a great deal.
Bitchin sandwidches !. I mean like I'm hittin this place like twice a week and thinkin about it every day.. waiting by the phone. The subs are killer son.. and theres all kinds of weird stuff in the display case in case your lookin.
GREAT Find. Great Sandwiches -- Fresh baked bread, nice folks. Try #-9, Beef extra spicy at $3.50 cannot be beat
This place is the bomb!
...decided to get the #4 Viet Bacon Sandwich. I liked the type of sandwich meat that was used, as its high fat content gave it a semi-jelly like consistency that almost melted in your mouth. The vegetables created a crunch, and the pate completed the sandwich. I got this for only $4!...
Ham, ham, ham and pate - what else could a girl ask for?? This thing is packed to the brim with various cold cuts and the pate here is a bit more robust than I've had before but it's good because there are so many competing flavors going on. The bread is crunchy on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. It's not as fragrant as their competitor's bread but good nonetheless. All of this for $3.50??? That's a steal!!
We're now halfway through my bánh mì pilgrimage after our visit to Kim Chau Deli and Tung Hing Bakery . Unlike the previous two shops, Ba Le does have limited seating available (3 tables).
I wanted to visit this bakery long before they weren't baking on their own. Since they got an in-house oven now, it made more sense to pay a visit.
Do you carry spare change at all? At Ba Le they give you $3.25 reasons why you should spend it there. Some of their sandwich specials are well known throughout Vancouver for the sole reason of...
One of Jenkins and my favourite places to go for Vietnamese subs is Ba Le right at the corner of Kingsway and Fraser. We found out about this place a few years ago and it is a great place to go for cheap and delicious Vietnamese-style subs. If you go betw
The sign is obviously a little old and faded…and doesn’t give a good description of what’s in the sub. Good thing I picked up a menu from their counter, there’s a big stack of them. Unfortunately, I have no idea where I put it so I can’t scan it for you a
Located in the corner of Kingsway and Frasier, Ba Le is located in a really odd strip mall with an odd mix of shops. Worst of all is the fact parking in the area is really, and I do mean really, bad. Spots are really tight and I saw at least one incident
I have not yet found a lunch meal with a bigger bang for the buck than a Vietnamese sandwich. Bahn Mi, for me, is the ultimate in fast foods. You can walk in to
Ba Le is well known f0r the Vietnamese baguette. Between the Chinatown location and this location, you MUST come to this location. This is because …… Ba Le had just started operation of their new expensive oven just a few weeks ago. As reported on Chowhou
